- A fun day in the inflatable Decathlon Itiwit Kayak on lake Derwentwater, Keswick in the English Lake District ends a bit sooner than expected. Following this, Decathlon sent me a full set of new bladders for my 3yr old kayak at zero cost, so alls well that ends well.

I was thinking to go for an Itiwit 3seat to take it around lakes and salt water (close to the shore) but your video made me think. Do you think I could potentially have the same trouble you had?
Decathlon replaced the internal bladders completely for free for me. I think this model has had an update since, so should be more reliable now. I'm still using mine.
Evening Stephen, us again. Hope you ate good and well. Never guess what we ate looking at getting 🤔 any thoughts of feedback 2 years down the line? Loved the drone shots and footage as always, top draw 👍 catch you soon, Ceri and Kat ☕ 😀 ❤
Ahoy Ceri & Kat. Still have the kayak, still using it a few times a year, still good fun. Definitely got my monies worth from it. Although sometimes one of the chambers can very slowly deflate if all valves etc not tight. If I was buying now, I might go for the high pressure version instead. Although it requires high pressure pump etc.
@@StephenJReid thanks for the tips Stephen, Kat is on the Decathlon website atm, all very exciting! ☕❤🏆👍
Always a delight to see your wonderful wife Louise. Looking forward to seeing her more often.
I'm having to see her a lot more often now myself!
@@StephenJReid rude!
We needed a Video like that at this time. Thanks 👍🏼
Thanks Neil 🙂
That was really great you are both funny. I need more of a review on the kayak though please. Does the bag come as a back pack? Would it for anything else? Are the oars good? Did you find out why she sprung a leak? Are the skegs good at keeping you on course? It looks better build quality than it's competitors in that price range. I plan on doing a hike in September. Day one kayak across wast water, walk to skafell pike, then walk to derwentwater kayak up that and then camp near Whinlatter Forest. Day 2 walk to grasmoor kayak crummock water and butteremere then walk back to wast water. You think this kayak will get me through that?
Simple answer. This is definitely NOT a kayak to take on a hike. It weighs 17kg and isn’t designed to be carried long distance. Also once it’s been in water it retains some moisture and gains a lot of weight. You’d be better researching light weight pack rafts.
Oh and thanks 🙂
@@StephenJReid hmmm. That's a little heartbreaking. Yeah was looking at packrafts but so pricey. This pack raft is cheap and easy to transport but I've no idea of such a weird shape would get me across a proper lake :( klymit.com/products/litewater-dinghy. Actually the one man Itiwit is 11kg That should be doable if I upgrade the straps on the bag or something, what you reckon? Cheers for replies
Maybe? You know your own strength. Might be fine for you. Maybe try filling a backpack to that weight plus your gear and doing a test hike?
Wow great idea for seating facing each other im going to try it on my itiwit kayak 👍
Yup! Means you can chat rather than shouting at each other. although means one person ends up doing most of the paddling!
A Steve, can the paddles be feathered or is there only one position for them?
Yeah there’s two positions you can set them to
Cheers! Hope all's well with you and your family.
You need a dry bag for your electronics.
Oh don’t worry I have several 🙂
Another beautiful and funny video. Thanks :)
Thank you!
Great escape watching this one Stephen, stunning location - it’s on my list for the underwater stuff now! Thanks 😊
Thanks Gordon! 🙂 Love the lake district. Reckon the water is fairly clear too, once you get away from the goose poo.
Hi, how are you? I want to know if the kayak is good at sea because I will travel 20 kilometers on it. What do you advise me
Hmmm I probably wouldn't want to do that distance in it. The furthest I've gone in it was about 10km and it was very slow. At sea it tends to take in water which makes it even slower. Personally I think it's best used for trips of a couple of hours. The other thing is that it's very susceptible to wind as it has a large surface area. I wouldn't go much further than 50-100m off shore in it.
@@StephenJReid Do you have some other kayak to recommend for that purpose? For 2 adults and one child. Tnx.
Very nice editing ;-) Nice story to tell.
Thanks 🙂
Love it 👍👍
I was leaning towards an inflatable but this has me swaying away from them again 🤔
I love my inflatable Kayak, been using it loads over the last few years and not had too many problems. Actually would be difficult to sink it as you would have to burst three separate air chambers.
What was the cause of the leak?
I think one of the inner bladders had a tiny hole. That or the valves weren’t tight enough. Not sure which, was a very slow leak
You both are a funny team. ;-)
Haha, thanks 🙂
Anytime you say “True Story” I’m instantly inclined to not believe you 😅 You’ve been sitting on this video for a while haven’t you? Perfect time to release it 😁
Truth be told I totally forgot about it. And when CoronaVirus scuppered my plan for this week, went rummaging in the vault of forgotten vlogs
Next time, bring two pumps. What, no Lock monsters?
There's only one valve though! Haha, the Loch monsters are further north in Scotland
