I was a graduating member of class 3-81. The Academy back then was 16 weeks. We started with a class of 27 and 20 graduated. It is a high stress environment but there's a reason for that. The inspections first thing in the morning were a real in your face yelling time. You must know your definitions. Nowadays you have the advantage of knowing all the definitions and 400 codes before the academy starts. In my day that wasn't possible. Preparation is key for everything you do.
I am going to need plenty of exercise. I spoke with Officer Garcia in recruiting so now I need to get fit for the application, pass it and academy time! Can't wait to work with some local heroes!
Is there a weight limit? I’ve been working my ass off to be able to do the physical requirements and I can do them all except the vertical jump because I don’t know how to practice that but I weigh around 280 pounds so I was wondering if that’s too much?
GioCx Gaming I don't believe so man. I've gone through the military training so I know what you're talking about about weight limits and being a certain size. If you can pass the physical requirements then you should be good. The only other thing that may be an issue might be is the medical test but there's only way to find out. Good luck if you do try and go for it!
Can depend on your height and bodyfat percentage. Also, can you run a few miles at an 8-10 minute mile pace (or faster) and can you do a minimum of maybe somewhere around 50-60 push-ups? When I tried to join I was easily in good enough shape to pass the physical test, and they had a preacademy and I was still nowhere near where I needed to be at 203 pounds at 6’2. I cut down to 190 pounds and still felt I would be overwhelmed at the academy. I still had too much bodyfat and not enough stamina. I’ve always been a horrible runner though fwiw. Also planks was an exercise I hadn’t practiced and it killed me.

Just do what some of the rest do, disrespect the public!
Or what most do, avoid crime.
Some?!?!? Most do that BEFORE the alleged assailant starts it!!!!
If only I respected the State of Nevada I would totally go for this. I'm going for Idaho. I'll see you on the other side.
