I’m glad they recognize it as the historic landmark, when they finally decide to retire it they can’t tear it down. Michael! Michael! Michael!
I'd argue that it would make little sense to retire the ride if it cannot be torn down.
I’m a big huge fan of roller coasters! Except for the one that goes upside down. Happy 100th birthday. Santa Cruz’s 1924 giant dipper.
One of the first "real" roller coasters my dad took me on in the 90s. Went a few years back and it's just as good.
Of course, Friday the 17th was the actual anniversary, and only 1 person could be first in line yesterday, and that person was me!

When the Dipper's rails were changed in c. 1990 it made the ride far to smooth and the ride just was never the same. It's too smooth today. I stopped riding it in c 1994. Even my 5 yr old son was getting bored......It was like being in a Mercedes.... The wild mouse was fun but I assume it was removed as too violent?
I use to love the Wild mouse ride when it was still around. Rode it many times in the mid 60's. Was sad when it was replaced with the water flume ride. Before it was demolished in 1972, Playland at the beach in San Francisco had a good old wild mouse ride, but it was called the Alpine racer. So sad that ocean side amusement park didn't survive. Now it's nothing but condos!!! 😡
