We love the New City Catechism! The songs are so great, I’ve been amazed how my kids including my 3 year old have absorbed not just the songs but what they mean.

I’ve watched a ton of homeschool for pre-K/K videos and by far yours is the best. Concise and well thought out recommendations. Thanks for sharing.

I have a 5 year old daughter and I decided to homeschool her last week. I am going to teach her kindergarten, but I have no idea where to start, what books to buy, etc. This video is a good start for me. Thank you.

Memory work is SO GOOD! We do CC so I totally get the spongy brains thing at this age. ❤🤓
Great picks! Yes! Whatever you choose will be a great one! ❤

Thank you!! I like CC too! I guess I didn’t mention that :) I just use the memory work and adapt it to what we are doing.

It was between TGTB Primer and AAR1 for us too... I decided to go with AAR... For that age, with the time we have together, I wanted to focus on reading and I think AAR does it the best!! (I've also done it with my oldest) The added focus on grammar and other things can taught in other ways or when they are a few years older..
AAR sent me a very helpful message about grammar and how the focus on reading is important at that age.

Linsey K that’s very true! I think I am leaning that way like you are. Thanks for your input!! It helps a lot 💗

Did you happen to ever do peaceful press nurturing nature kindergarten? It's tempting me, I like the idea of only one book/unit at a time, between that and gather round letters and numbers...

They really are like little sponges! I've been looking into before five in a row and five in a row. Have you done any of them before?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLearning

Rolling with the Rouses I did the Before Five in a Row books last year with my youngest and with each of my kids when they are 4 and 5. I haven’t bought their teacher’s guide before, but I may do it for this More Before Five in a Row. We love it! Super simple. :)

I used it last year and liked it! My daughter enjoyed lots of the activities and we lapbooked some of them with things I found on HomeschoolShare.com and TpT etc. 😀

Hi! I watched your 2nd grade curriculum and was super excited to hear Kate Snow has her own Math Curriculum (As we loved her "Facts that stick" series). I have changed up my original plans for my Kindergartener's math. We were going to go with stuff I made up myself paired with Easy Peasy all in one Getting Ready 2 Math (which is their Kindergarten). This was because I couldn't find a math book that did all I wanted. I found either they were too advanced or too simple for our needs. Plus, as you mentioned I wanted hands on math/real life and games in math without going into 100$ price. Easy Peasy has the games which is great and paired with Kate Snow's Math with Confidence, now I feel very very excited for Math for my Kindergartener!!! Soooo, thank you for making me aware of this curriculum!!!!
We are doing "Handwriting without Tears". She has loved this series. She picked it up off the shelf and started on her own when she was 4. So we are just continuing with what works.
As for "reading", I plan to use Sherry K. Hayes free reading program from her website: Momdelights.com I love how she includes games :)
Then she does group studies with us that include all memory work, poetry, picture books, ReadAloud chapter books, Science, History, Geography, A.S.L & Latin, drawing & crochet....Ballet when we feel like it....etc.
    Thanks for sharing!

@@JoyfulNoiseLearning Momdelights.com is a great resource!!!! She has a lot of free material and she is super encouraging for me as a mother and homeschooler. We are also using her free assignment sheet printables and handwriting/lesson pages that are free (for my oldest who is in 2nd grade).

Do you think it can be an easy transition to start out with Kate Snows math and then in a few years go to Right Start Math? My older child is a year ahead of what Kate Snow has to offer so is in RS math, and I'm not sure if it would be too confusing to start my younger one on something different.

What did you decide to use for reading? We are homeschooling my daughter and really need a new curriculum for readying since she seems to be struggling. I’ve heard good things about both TGATB and AAR. Curious what you picked?

    • @JoyfulNoiseLearning
      @JoyfulNoiseLearning  3 года назад

I feel like he is not ready for AAR actually, SOOO I just ordered TGTB Primer. I just got an email that it was misprinted and I have to wait a few more weeks for it, but we’ll start it in January. I will probably try AAR next year when he is six. My 7 year old did AAR 1 when he was 6 and he is now in AAR 2 and it’s working great :)

Hi Corinne! I remember you :) I actually was your secret RUclips Sister last year when we did the box swaps. I am SO sorry I fell off with that! Please forgive me. We moved to a new State and I quit RUclips for a few months. It was an honor to bless you for a few months :) I hope you are doing well! Thanks for stopping by.
