To be fair, this is big bits of dark age tech. And most of the dark age tech i believe to have been focused on non military stuff, up until the men of Iron went rouge. At that point they kinda had to go full war economy, hence why so much of the dark age weapons stuff is incredibly unstable and prone to causing collateral. It's not missuse, it was never refined to the point of being safe to use, it was just shat out in a desperate bid to stop the men of iron.
As for the necrons being ripped apart by it, well, it was designed to fight mechanical monstrosities, and the Neko boys are just that. Although you also must remember that they once had an empire bigger than the imperium, and it was far more efficient. What we see now is just a Tau sized portion of the Necrons, and they have still managed to do this entire pariah nexus thing.

They are still out their in the lore, they were relegated to have been the test subjects of at least one to a few low-key necron forces. Most likely ones that had lost their ruling dynasty and were co-opted by the “mega mind” supercomputer running the various cron systems. Hence why they still thought ctan were in charge and why their highest leaders were just lords. So the computer set them to follow one of the directives of finding a cure to the biotransferance limitations.

Necron's experimenting on humans and biotransference. The soul sapping "pariah" effect. It'd be madness to NOT re-introduce Necrons Pariahs. The only reason they weren't popular originally is that taking them effectively ruined your phase out limit in the old rules (I was a Necron player back then and you REALLY had to worry about that phase out limit!). Cool models and lore bring them back!!

Chaos is so fun! It's unpredictable, constantly changing, and there's always something new to try! And you look so cool with your new and ornate armour and mutations.
Jokes aside, it's interesting that the Pariah Nexus can stop warp entities. There's always been ambiguity as to how alive they really are. They don't truly die in the Materium. They just fade back into the warp. But it seems to behave differently to life born in Real Space. I do love how Vastorr is a constant threat in the lore, but hasn't matched that on the tabletop just yet.

God knows, 10th edition book has him running around arguing with rogue dynasties so at least he's still around.
It could be cool if the silent king appointed him as the head of the triarch praetorians. Could get an interesting new plastic model out of that.

Was there some sort of error on the Warhammer Community site the other day where the Chaos Daemon codex was meant to go up for pre-order? I'm sure I remember seeing it but the pre-order link didn't work and now all mention of it seems to have vanished.

So where are the souls of the Necron race? Weren't they eaten by the C'Tans? How would they ever become living beings again without souls?

Make new souls, illuminor Szeras has been trying to figure out how for a long time without success but if anyone could figure out how it would be the necrons.

For really tin foil hat reasons this makes me think Ferrus Mannus could come back. The Necron are trying to move minds and souls between flesh and necrodermis. The end of the Horus Heresy has just had an impossible cameo from Mr Iron Hands himself and everyone seemed to be all over his Skull. In life his body was fused with some necrodermis so I think it is not unreasonable that the stars could align and ferrus comes back. Most importantly we could follow on from shipping Guilliman and Yvraine with shipping Ferrus with The Silent King.
