What'll I do
when you
are far away
and I'm so blue?
What'll I do?
What'll I do
when I
am wondering who
is kissing you
what'll I do?
What'll I do
with just
a photograph
to tell my troubles to?
When I'm alone
with only dreams of you
that won't come true
what'll I do?
Song by Lorenz Hart and Richard Rogers Видеоклипы
The piano, the genius, the voice, all come together, too capture this song, like no others have ! BEAUTIFUL 👍 👍 👍
Beautiful voice--and a master class in accompaniment by Larry
a wonderful arrangement, sung superb
What a voice! What a collaboration. Breathing new life into this old American Irving Berlin classic.
I heard this tune watching old Northern Exposures, I listened to every version I could find, but I think this one might be the best, great music, great vocal interpretation, wonderful piano. Big smiles and bigger thanks for making this. Amazingly beautiful. Best tune to have stuck in my head.
What an incredible duo. Subtlety, nuance, harmonies that make you want to live. Thank you Kathleen and Larry.
In a better world this would have 5 mil hits...
I’ve listen to 25 different versions of this tune from all the greats and you, my dear, have sung it so beautifully better than all the rest
Beautiful! Wonderful harmonizations/voicings and overall performances! 🤩🤩🤩
Beautiful voice. And no matter what Larry G is playing -- ballads, funk, pop, straight ahead, Brazilian -- literally anything. it's always PERFECT!
So beautiful, both of you. Heard this song all my life done by various artists. It was written almost 100 years ago. 1923!
Tidbit from wiki:
"What'll I Do" is one of the few songs by Irving Berlin that is clearly biographical. His fiancée, a society beauty named Ellin MacKay, had been sent to Europe by her disapproving father, a very wealthy Long Island magnate, in the hopes that MacKay would forget Berlin. (She did not and eventually they married.) The song was written during McKay's "tour" of Europe. In the lyrics, the singer longs disconsolately for his love, imagining how he can go on without her.”
Took a little bit of the melancholy out of it by changing 'troubles' to 'secrets' :)
What great work, thanks so much.
Yeah, it takes real chutzpa to change Irving Berlin lyrics. And, as one would expect, the change was not an improvement. 🤷♂
Jazz can ask questions and sometimes provide answers of great music that had not been explored before, I thought I knew this classic but now I listen to each interpretation with wonder. Thank you.
One of the most beautiful recordings I've heard. Absolutely gorgeous from all perspectives - just perfect!
Sehr sehr schön gesungen, tolle Stimme! Und fantastisches Piano!
Dream work on the piano ♥

Lovely oldie Thank You
I found this by a random link from a Pomplamoose mashup and what an exquisite end to my day this has been; thank you both for this apparently effortless and perfectly judged and understated thing of beauty.
Brava!
My word! That was so lovely and mellow. Without a doubt, this is my favorite rendition of this gorgeous ballad.
What a great performance! Beautiful feel, music that breathes, complex and compelling harmonic content .. reminds me of a Woody Allen soundtrack (Hannah et al) Magic!
What a beautiful partnership. Your voice and delivery are captivating. And Goldings is so sensitive to the needs of singer and song. Nice! ❤️
Took my breath away. Bravo!

2023년 가을 문턱에서 듣는 이 노래
너무 좋네요
Stunningly gorgeous 🌹
That was dreamy. 💯
Amazing
Love love love this performance. Spectacular rendition @kathleen, it's so obvious-to great effect-how much you love this tune.
so beatiful.... wowwwwwwwwww
This was so nice. Flooded with thoughts as I listened. Very nice. Thank you.
most excellent..
I think of a young woman sitting on a porch in Kansas, thinking of a man she met at the local air base dance who romanced her and made her promises and now was over in England flying with the 8th AF. The sense of helplessness, of intense love for the boy, the desire not yet resolved, come through to the listener. Maybe she is rewarded with his return, maybe not even a letter that he died in war, maybe...
Nice story you've made there!
No words
Just love

The sound of God
Hmmm. De acuerdo. Es el sonido de DIOS.
This is beaultiful. Thank you for sharing.
I think it might be a Berlin tune rather than Hart and Rogers?
You're correct, it's Berlin. They should fix that...
Ahhh, I see they say Berlin at the top of the description...
Irving Berlin 1923!
:)
Her blouse looks like it has bats on it! Very beautiful
Silly me. I thought Julie London, Linda Ronstadt, Johnny Mathis and Art Garfunkel nailed it. Very nice. Never done better.
