However, I want to point out for anyone who's going to be wearing something made of a cord wrapped around your neck and has excess cord hanging down to please be careful, know your surrounding! These materials (without a fastener) will not snap off your neck if they are caught or pulled by something so please please be careful if you are wearing these around!
Good point! (Ever heard of Isadora Duncan?!) When I make my ribbon chokers, I put a little piece of velcro on the back of each side to hold it together. For the cords, I use a cord clasp which can also be found at the craft store and are super easy to attach.
If you work around any machinery, you should remove all jewelry, but I am pretty sure your place of employment should have some policies about the wearing of jewelry, if it's a hazard to your health and safety.
