    That large gap at the end of each row is smaller if you slip stitch into the "V" stitch space, instead of the 3rd chain stitch. Love the tutorial!

    Hi Clare, thank you for the tutorial, this is really helpful. What about if i want to make the holes bigger. Do i chan 2 instead of 1? And will i have to reduce the number of double crochets at the beginning?

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  10 месяцев назад

      No problem!
      Yes, do a chain 2, and yes I would reduce the first round to half the amount of stitch and see how that goes

  • @CrochetwithClare
    @CrochetwithClare  11 лет назад

    Yes of course :) I would make the hat about 2 rows shorter other wise your hat and brim will sit over your eyes :D

      The stitch count will be different for each persons hat. It will depend on what size you are making.

    When i get to the third row my work starts to curl, is this normal?

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes your work will start to form a bowl shape.
      If it is ruffled, I suggest starting with 2 less stitches at the start

      @@CrochetwithClare will try this! It’s ruffled and I’ve tried changing hook and adjusting my tension but it always ruffles

    Say the crown of your hat needs to be 7” and the hat height needs to 9-10”. Does that mean you need to do the work 9-10” over the 7” that you have already worked for the crown of the hat or does that mean 9-10” total for the whole hat. Sorry I am so confused.

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  4 года назад

      Hello Johna, If your crown needs to be 7" then you will stop your increases when your hat reaches between 6.5-7" (crochet stretches so making the crown half an inch to an inch smaller is good). Once your crown gets to the size you need, you stop increasing and just continue your normal rounds until your hat reaches the length you need which in your case would be 9-10". You will work your rounds until your total hat measurement is 9-10".

    Is there a way to turn this into a slouchy beanie?

    • @CrochetwithClare
      @CrochetwithClare  9 лет назад

      Yes Connie Tang and you will not believe how easy it is, to make it slouchy you just add more rounds to the length....if you want it more baggy , you add more increase rounds
      thank you for watching

    • @CrochetwithClare

      Hi, I’m sorry but I can not speed up my tutorials. I go at the speed that I do so that everyone is able to learn no matter what skill level they are at. You can speed up the video on your own RUclips settings. On the bottom of the screen click on the little gear icon and then click on playback speed.
