Al Unser Sr,. what a class act. His daughter had just died less than two months before at age 21 in a dune buggy accident you can see is sorrow and hear it in his voice, but is still a pro in the interviews.
Thanks for posting this video even though it has been up six years! First time I had seen footage of the Foyt/Cogan incident which appears to me either Cogan moved down or Foyt drifted into his left rear... what a mess for Cogan as his career really got off to a bad start.
Finally, we get to see live footage of the Cogan/Foyt crash! Although, I have to say, it's funny that Gary Lee refused to cut his interview with Rick Mears short for sake of the wreck.
If I am not mistaken, this completes the entire 1982 CART season on YT, or at least the races that were televised. (in case nobody knows what I am talking about, the Atlanta & Road America races were not televised that year, although for the latter race, a small highlights package is available on the Riverside race UL'ed on this channel, or you can see that race posted separately on Ryan Holman's channel. this race felt like an exhibition race because of how short it was, especially for a Michigan race

Unsers beyond tough.

AJ to Cogan "not again" and "I'm too old for this shit"

That goddamn "Coogan"!
notice Bobby Rahal's name is misspelled on his firesuit!
Rahal way underrated
Foyt got creamed by Hector Rebaque in the Michigan 500 that same year.
Rutherford crashed again. he already had broken fingers.
