    The pictures reveal how rural the average American's life was back in the 1950's. Do you recall what state your Ebay purchase was sold from? Texas, California, Oklahoma? It's amazing that 70 years later the camera would be flown from North America, across the Pacific, to the Philippine. And into the hands of a camera collector and competent photographic film developer, who shares his story on RUclips and invites to world to see. What a wonderful world we live in. Nicely done!

      Thanks for watching! Apparently Verichrome Pan was a very "long lasting" film. A lot of people have had success with developing old rolls of Verichrome. The photos really surprised me too, it was like going through a time machine.

    I'm late to the party, but if it helps you , the 1st truck is a 1953 GMC 5 ton Cab Over, the 2nd truck is a 1959 GMC model 370. Give or take a year.

      Noticed the windmill pump in one of the images. I think that puts the camera in Midwest USA or possibly Manitoba from the style of it.

      I am about the same vintage as the photos
      Looking at my family's photo album I was wearing the same fashion at about the same age as these kids ; )
      I just turned 65 and was raised on a farm in Ohio. So I would say that the film is older than 50 years closer to 60

    I have an old exposed roll of film I found in an old camera from a thrift store.
    Never had it developed because I don't know what could be on it.
    I don't want to get into trouble over it.

    I always did Verichrome Pan in D-76. It was much faster, and the grain was acceptable. I used to push Tri-X to 1000 and develop it in Acufine.

    great result mate well done. I just got hold of an old 6x6 folder with a roll of exposed verichrome in it. I've used D-76 in the past for film from the 80s and 90s, results were good I added 50% to dev time. I'm going to try this on the verichrome too, maybe double the dev time. I'll post the experience on my channel when done. Fingers crossed there's something on there. I've told the seller I'll send her whatever I find as it was her dads camera from way way back. Liked and subbed mate.

      Just deved the roll D76 1/1 dilution 13 mins absolutely gob smacked, there are 7 what look to be well exposed images and one half image. They are of 4 young kids, the seller and her siblings maybe? I've mailed her let her know how it's going can't wait to get these scanned and sent her. Pretty excited about this roll, this might just make the ladies day. XXXX

      scanned and sent to her. These are amazing pictures from such an old camera on such an old roll of film. No fogging, good contrast throughout, pretty damn sharp too. Happy as larry. I'll get the ok from the seller first before I post a vid of the exercise on YT. Hope she's ok with it I'm buzzing at this result.

    The film looks like it came out really dirty with heaps of hairs on it. Did you properly clean the negatives?

    • @GoneWithFilm
      @GoneWithFilm  3 года назад

      Thanks for the observation. I originally thought it was on the film too so I left them there "as original". Checked the negatives and they were clean. Looks like it was the glass carrier I was using back then (these were developed and scanned about 3 years ago) to scan the negatives had some lint on it. I'm using a different carrier now to avoid this.

      Based on what I see (the trucks and cloths) I'd say these photos were taken in the mid 50s, making the now elderly "kids" somewhere in their 70s.

    Where can you have a 120 film developed here in Manila?

    • @GoneWithFilm
      @GoneWithFilm  2 года назад

      Most of the recommended labs are in Quezon City-try Fujifilm/The Wonderphotoshop in Megamall and Sto Domingo Ave., Fotofabrik in Scout Tuazon, and Sunny16 Lab in Matino st., Teacher's Village. Most labs can develop 120 film as long as it's C41, color slide or black and white.
