When this error happens the common steps you want to go through are
- Deactivate your plugins
- Revert to a default theme
- Delete your .htaccess
- Update your site url

Thanks for the video. But I am testing my website locally. I tried all the steps to login as you have said in the video. not able to login. Is there any alternate for this. I did'nt get the last step.

First of all... Thank you! It looks like my theme was causing some issues and i dont know why. There was no update to the theme and everything was working perfectly fine before.
It's hard to say the specific reason, you may want to reach out to your theme's support and they should be able to assist.

I just had this come up on a client's website. One specific admin user out of four is having this issue. When I try to login using their credentials on my end I get the same problem. My credentials work just fine.
You could try clearing your cookies and cache but otherwise we would still recommend the steps in this guide for fixing the issue.
damn! almost 4 hours searching for an solution and that delete .htaccess made my day!.. life saver thank you very much :) smash that like and subscribe!. I got error because off that sakura ssl fuck!, can't login all google search and lots of youtube search until this video hit me.

Why do you have to use ftp? Can't you just go into cpanel?
Not all hosts have a file manager built into their hosting but you can use it if your host has it.
Hi, after I go to setting > general on my Wordpress dashboard and changed URL and URL site from http to https and then SAVE CHANGE for ssl purpose. Now I can not login to my wp dashboard anymore. Could you please give me your suggestions how to fix it. Thank you for your time and much appreciated.

If none of the methods are working properly you may want to reach out to your hosting provider to see if it could be an error on their end or if they are able to see an error on your site.
I tried changing the name of the file to plugins_backup. When I changed it back to plugins, the plugins were still in my hosting's (FTP) folder, but not in my wordpress admin backend. Furthermore, I cannot install new plugins in the admin backend. I get an"Installation failed" response. Please help.

I did all that, and it does not let me access, when I deactivate the plugings, they are not deactivated, when I deactivate the main theme, it is not deactivated, I already reinstalled a backup and even with that it did not work, I even played with lines of code that I found on the internet in the wp-conf.php file, change the password and nothing..

With your plugins not deactivating when you force deactivate them, you may want to reach out to your hosting provider for them to take a look to see if there is a server specific error that you are running into.
I am having login issues as well. Each time I try to reset the password it says invalid reset links
. What could I do to get it fixed..

Hello, I tried all your steps and nothing worked. I called the hosting and they are sying that the problem is on my end. I don't know how to find it.
If your plugins are deactivated and your theme was changed without a change to your login page, we would recommend checking with your hosting provider's error log to see if it specifies the error on your site.
I have a problem with mine. I did it with hostgator. When I go to the wp-admin page, it redirects me to my custom website. How can I fix this? Thank you.
You may want to try going to wp-login.php to see if there could possibly be a redirection error from a plugin or similar

You cant clean all browsing history all the time isnt it? I tried the below steps it worked:
if your website is example.com/wp-login.php then just add ?asdasda at the end or any other characters. now it will be
example.com/wp-login.php?asdasda and hit enter. it should work this time.
This is not clearing your entire browser history, this is mainly clearing temporary files to ensure your browser is showing you the most recent version of the page and not a broken version.

My issue is Dasboard is getting open...but once i click any link in dasbard...it shows page not found

Whenever I wanted to login into my wordpress it replies: Proxy or VPN detected - Please disable to access this website! please help me how to login
If you are using a VPN you may want to disable it for a first option.
It doesn't work to log in to wordpress wp admin. I also know the password and the username. When the login page appears, I write the login details and nothing happens. When I try on the phone it goes to log in. I also tried Chrome, Edge, Mozilla, etc. and it still doesn't work. I installed the Tor browser and it works to log in to the site, it works. What do you think needs to be done? Thank you in advance!

@@wpbeginner Thx, i clearing all the browsing data and cache before, not working.The person hosting the site went into my computer ( with any desk), and installed the browser Tor, said it was the ip problem, said he would check with imunify 360, but i need my site:( faster.
how do you know what ftp company you working with
FTP is a program and not a company, depending on which one you download would be the one you are using :)
Can’t someone fix that so it doesn’t happen? We can fly to the moon but WP has login problems?
Technology can always have unforeseen problems this video is in case that happens.
I think there has to be these hitches especially on passwords because if it works itself out wrong people will always have access in some cases!

I got but my all themes was deactivated
You should be able to reactivate anything on your site and if the issue crops up again you should be able to narrow down the issue.
Good video but none of the suggestions here fixed my problem. If you have above issues, and in addition cannot create new users you might have a database issue like I did and none of the fixes worked, try this: The problem was that AUTOINCREMENT flag was missing from primary key of some database tables. For me this included _users, _usermeta and _term_taxonomy database tables. You will need to go into the database (phpMyAdmin), and for each affected table: first change any rows with primary key values of 0 to some unique value other than 0, for example one higher than the currently highest primary key in the table (and update any related tables that reference the changed 0 primary key), then go to Structure tab and add AUTOINCREMENT to the primary key (A_I checkbox) and apply.

You can force set your password under Users>Your Profile and click the generate password to bring up the password field to ensure it didn't save a different password.
I didn't connect my wp site to filezilla and my wp-admin page is redirecting to my custom login page. can anybody help me?

With AWS I can't find .htaccess :-/
AWS has a different control scheme than standard, You could try editing your wp-options table to set your site url that way.

@@wpbeginner I downloaded wordpress and installed XAMPP and installed the wordpress folder into the htdocs folder
@@wpbeginner Instead of the using filezilla I just changed the name of my folders on my computer itself
