  • Loretta Young was an extremely popular Hollywood film star in 1953 when television was beginning to sweep the nation. Taking a tremendous career risk, Miss Young decided to explore the new entertainment medium by extending her popular and diverse movie roles onto the 'small screen'.
The Loretta Young Show premiered on Sunday night, September 20, 1953 on the NBC television network where it was broadcast for the next eight years, in over 250 episodes, quickly becoming a ratings winner. The series was awarded eight Emmys as well as many other major acknowledgements.
Miss Young's signature show openings, the many and varied roles she played, the high production values and moral content of the series became the standard for the early days of classic TV in America.
Not all 266 Loretta Young Show episodes survived over the years. This collection, transferred from Miss Young's own private 16mm syndication prints, represents nearly every episode in which she appeared in the dramatic content of the episode.
    Enjoy!

SIX movies with Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. -- seven if you include the short "The Stolen Jools" -- and her lifelong friend and he's not included in her list of leading men???
