I often wonder what sort of rules they have for extinguishing fires in tractor pulls. "A glass full of water shall be carried by officials, only if they think of it at the time!"
I didn't see a glass of water being used to extinguish a single fire. What I saw was small, very effective extinguishers used for alcohol fires. Those extinguishers are mandated by a very strict regulating body for rules regarding tractor pull competition safety. Do you really think all of this happens without oversight? Really?
probably depends on the location of the fire and what the combustible material is. for liquid fires (like gasoline or hot oil), putting water on it will only spread the combustible material (and therefore spreads the fire). those are typically smothered (like a fire blanket). considering what is going on here, the vast majority of these fires are likely class b fires so water will make it worse
It was wild and crazy action, and not too mention pretty intense as well. So much so watching the video had me sitting on the edge of my bed, I guess I only needed the edge of the bed anyway 😂
I was wondering why some of these tractor pull sites have minimal fire extinguishing equipment or it’s ancient stuff. Most of these trucks and tractors are pretty expensive and it would be nice to see proper fire fighting equipment on site and readily available, not up in a shed 300’ away.
There's plenty at every event. They are alongside the track in case they need to be used. Some associations require the officials on the track to carry a small one on their belt as well. Most fires aren't that big of a deal and will go out on their own as it's usually fluid burning on a hot surface. Many competitors don't like you using them unless absolutely necessary as they make a mess of everything.

After watching this whole video ive came to the conclusion that they either have some terrible fabricators or they arent checking their rigs after bouncing them down the track! Which also makes you wonder why in a sport where the probability and ammount of time you bounce down the track youd think they would figure out some sort of suspension by now and not solid axle hard mount them! Because you know its not a matter of if but when it will happen.
Pumping as much fuel as possible for as much power as possible isn't for efficiency, it's for raw power. You want efficiency, hook a Prius to the sled. Wont be fun to watch, but it will be efficient.
@@MorganOtt-ne1qj I wouldn’t touch a Prius with a 10 foot pole. It is possible to get as much power as possible and do so efficiently. Look at the newer model year diesels, putting out 1200 ft/lb of torque and they do so WITHOUT rolling coals.

WhyNever could understand this sport. It's such a waste of money. Invest so many thousands of dollars in these motors and they just blow up money just gone. You could have all the mathematic calculations to build a motor in thinking you got it all right but there's always going to be something you miss where it could cause an explosion and it's just a matter of time before it blows up in your face and you're gone off this earth. Stupid sport and what a big waste of money. Also they have these tiny little wheels in front of these machines with no suspension and all that weight behind it it's a no-brainer of course they're going to break off. So stupid!
lol so true but so much of nascar is the same, all that time and money for smash up, any vehicle sport gives the same result, the only question is HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST TO FIX.
I understand that some don't get it but some like building a beast that can move the weight of a two story house, I would loved to have done this but never did. Unlike some sports these guys and ladies are for the most part great sportsmen and help each other instead of fighting.
It is the thrill and fun of it. It is like gambling like on horse racing, tables, or slots, some get the thrill and fun out of it but yet they just toss away 1000's. That I do not understand why some spend and lose so much money on that.

My problem with most fires at the pulls is that the officials, and even the fire department on site, are VERY SLOW to get there with an extinguisher.
It just kills me when the engine abandons ship an flops out onto the dirt like a dieing fish
