Tractor pulling is a blast to watch live. My heart goes out to these teams that blow up, though. That’s a whole lot of money on a total rebuild. I’ve got to figure that the sled rear-ending a blown tractor adds insult to injury.
yes i must agree an insane amount of Dollars but i supose if you have the Dollars to build it and run it then a rebuild is in there as well the other thing you mention is the sled rear ending them i dot see much of this unless the tow vehicle is doing some sort of dance then maybe any way Cheers to you and those that build these things so we may watch it all gone in less than 60 seconds !!!!!!!
The flashing was from every time that cylinder lit off and the resulting escaping combustion... I'm sure there was burning head gasket and aluminum all mixed into it also.
I like how the flag guy still raises the red flag after the blower or head done blowed through the hood and laying next to the front tire, like they are about to drive off in the sunset with half a motor.
would love to get one of these out on the 1320 and see how fast they can run in the quarter, this dirt stuff is fun, but. man these would make some wild drag rides too.
Tractor pulling - the emPHasis is on the pPulling not speed. It's a contest of p-uulling. When you get to the end it's called a Fuuuuuull Puuuuuullllllllll............... It's all about who can out Pulll the other, so they can show everyone who is the biggest puuuller. No one in tractor Puuulling gives a tosss about speed.
A lot of these guys do this type of motor sport because it's slow and relatively safe! Undoubtedly, the tractors would require extensive modifications to put all that power to making speed, though. I do believe speed is important; at the start of the pull, the sled is relatively easy to pull, and the person who can get going fast at this point, can gain a good advantage!
@@garybulwinkle82 Doesn't the sled get harder to pull the further you go? Meaning that it will get harder to pull at the same speed as you are dragging it?
All I can think of is the great Brian Regan bit that goes, “whelph Shelly I had a rim tac full of shim folds and we nailed er pedal to the firewall and hung on to the sumova bitch and threw two tie rods and a ramisplanter, not to mention the plugs were gapped at 2 impeller coils off the harbor freight book but by the time she’s taxiing at 12,000 rpm’s we had to SHUT ER DOWN.”
Feel bad for these men that put all their time & money into a machine & have it disintegrate in a few seconds. And yet they keep doing it! Over & over.
Thats the sport. In germany we say it's the hottest and loudest sport on 4 wheels. They do it mostly in teams as far as i know from here in europe. Also most teams and guys have sponsors like a metal company or oil/fuel companys to help with money and parts.
The fact that I can't see anyone in the first 20 comments talking about that first truck is surprising like who the hell can miss mater of all characters
Speaking as an ol Dodge fan, it's hard to watch several of Rams that didn't make it that far; especially the oldest and rarest of them all, the 50 year old Big Horn, at time index 10:00.
i love how the guys with the fire extinguishers just take their time and casually walk up to put the fire out while the guys 70,000 dollar puller is burning to the ground.
Go back to the start of the pull. He had 2 silver exhaust on the hood. He started smoking really hard after the left one was gone. So the driver got all the black smoke in his cabin from the exhaust.
Where the white smoke is coming out from? It's simply a breather hose, connected up to the crankcase to let the pressure that builds up below the pistons, to escape. Without it, the pressure inside the engine block would build up very high and push seals, gaskets, and oil out everywhere.
This makes me want to design, build and modify an engine that's able to show the next-weakest thing - the link between the traction unit and the load! I think you'd win by default if you manage to sheer the link between them both! Blowing up is a spectacle, but *almost* blowing up and then pulling so hard it loses the load, that would be hilarious! Kingpins are fairly strong though, but i can't imagine they're using a Fifth Wheel?
You would think they would have someone watching with a red flag looking freaked or sparks etc. And wave down the driver to kill it? So not to have their shit blow up. Unless that's part of it. Run it till you finish or burn it down.
This is an example of a sport gone bad. It began when miners boasted how much their teams of ponies could haul out the mine. It turned into competitions to see how much dead weight the teams could pull over a prescribed distance. The animals seldom if ever pulled to the point of injuring themselves. Now we use machines operated by people with little regard for the inherent limitations of the machine's design. This results in the spending of fortunes on machines that are never used for production and are broken intentionally for an brief instant of adrenaline.
