Needless to say, I was also a novice to "freedom" in Pretoria, Sunnyisde. I always told myself that if I ever got pregnant out of wedlock I would without a doubt get an abortion for the same reason of not wanting to disappoint my parents. I don't know how I did not ever get pregnant!!

Isn't it scary or rather sad that often you find that as the chrisitain /church community that tends to have unhealthy expectations - we expect people to be 'perfect' or 'well behaved' /flawless all the time and to uphold the standards without failing and we care more about 'reputation' than reaching out to people and just helping them through their weaknesses and brokenness. It's sad. Such pressure is what keeps many away. And worse they end up measuring God's love and grace based on what they received from the church and not God himself. They begin to believe that God is also judging or condemning them.

So true. We may deny it but non of us are immune to 'influence'.. If you stay long enough eventually parts of you are likely to cave... If influence wasn't real then Adam wouldn't have had that fruit 😢the friends we choose matter. They add to who we become.
