We ventured out with our friend Sam to see an amazing local New England waterfall, Race Brook Falls. Although we've hiked Mount Everett before, we hadn't seen the waterfall and it proved to be spectacular.
Along the way, we found a few wild edible plants. First, we found an invasive species called Garlic Mustard. This plant is a fun one to forage because it's extremely invasive (so pick all you want) and it has a great flavor! Tastes similar to a spicier garlic, so it's great added to dishes in replace of garlic.
In addition to garlic mustard, we found a TON of wintergreen berries. Wintergreen is a low growing plant that is easy to mistake for a poisonous lookalike such as mountain laurel or poison ivy. It is where we get wintergreen flavoring from. The leaves smell super minty and the plant produces light red-pink berries that are delicious.

After a steep climb, we finally got to the waterfall. It was so spectacular!

Mount Everett and Mount Race are on my list for this year, we did Bear, Round, Frissell and Brace in the spring. Beautiful spaces.
I love hiking omg and that is soo true about hiking while the leaves are off the trees to be able to spot wildlife and omg I would’ve loved to see that hawk omg that’s exciting!!!!! I love everything about being outdoors

This was definitely a challenging waterfall to get to! It was so steep but so rewarding. We had a really fun time. I’m glad we could provide some comfort in this scary time!
