- Hearts win the Tennents Scottish Cup after a hard-fought penalties victory over 2nd Division Gretna at Hampden. Despite Hearts having the majority of the game, Gretna managed to hold on for a shootout. Pressley, Neilson, Skacel and Pospisil were successful for Hearts, and a Craig Gordon save and a Skelton miss meant that the Scottish Cup was coming to Tynecastle for the first time since 1998.

This must be one of the greatest achievements in football well done Gretna you were the real winners even though you lost
Bollocks! St Johnstone doing the double last week was the greatest achievement in football. Gretna were s shit stain on Scottish football and represent everything that is wrong with the game. Some idiot splashing cash left right and centre to fulfil his own football fantasy with no regard to the sustainable future of the club or the real fans that supported it.

Class day regardless of the loss. My favourite season as a football fan by far.
I always laugh when the commentator says how great to see the Hearts fans applaud Gretna at the end, do you think they would've if they had lost the shootout?

Did Gretna ever get respected getting this far I give them that Shame they couldn't finish it but Hearts were strong that year finishing 2nd too.
Jordan Morrison they got my respect even they achieved something that would never been repeated ever again getting three promotions In three seasons that took them to the the top flight sure Rangers where in the third division a few years back but it took them 4 seasons to do it
Gretna lost all respect when they dragged the game into disrepute and went bust a year or so after. The Gretna experiment was never going to be sustainable

Nope not just coz they beat Gretna but coz they beat all the other teams in the rounds before the final then lifted the cup
Aye, fucked Hibs 4-0 in the semi and Aberdeen 3-0 earlier in the competition. Those were the real results. Gretna were always going to be up for that.
