I have the same agrifab thatcher. It’s a good product. If you do add the cement blocks for weight, it does stick right in the dirt to not only get the thatch, but also make grooves in the soil. At least that was my experience. This does pull up a ton of dead stuff. I was impressed with it.
I like to add weight when overseeding as it makes some nice channels on the soil for the seed seed fall into. No overseeding this year. I find this puts a lot of strain on my lawnmower.
I would cut as short as possible and wont let it grow over three inch and leave the cut down lawn as fertiliser. That how it has been done here last 30 years. Theres no room for moss when lawn is healthy.
