    I actually quite like the 2005 design and probably have one myself. I don't think I've bought any half Sovs in a few years but do remember getting them in the £90-£150.

      The days of half sovs below £100 seem long gone at the moment

    Great video I have a question
    Do these half sovereigns count towards your 100 sovereigns goal?

    • @SovereignSaurus
      @SovereignSaurus  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately for my wallet, no. Neither does the 1989 double sov I bought recently or the jubilee head shield half. Some special ones coming up though along with some different dates and portraits 😁

    Can I ask what the red & blue tubes are to the right do the frame and where you got them or could get them from?

      Hello. They are £1 coin holders. You might find something similar in an antiques shop or coin shop. Ebay might be an option too. Try searching vintage coin holder or something like that.

    I can remember buying the 2002 full sovereign when it came out for less than £90. I still have it too. I think the special edition sovereigns are one of the few coins RM mint that genuinely go up in value and always a good buy. Great collection there!!!!

      Fantastic. Not bad just over 4x increase in 20 years. I've picked up a few slightly special ones recently like a 1989 so look forward to sharing those soon. Wish I'd started in 2002 in some ways but I have done well with other asset classes so no complaints

      @@SovereignSaurus I started when Gordon Brown sold half our gold reserves now costing us billions. You could pick up the Victoria Shield sovereigns in collectable grade for £125. A modern half sovereign cost £35 and a one ounce Krug cost £225, but it just keeps going up and I am still buying. Some coin dealers remember when a sovereign cost about £3 too but that was before my time!!!

      @@SouthSideFrankie yes I wonder how long until we will be wishing for the good old days when we could buy a sov less than £500
