Vegas sets odds to balance books. More money bet on other teams from even before the season started. They are giving low odd to get more money on Red Sox also along with what they believe. Keep that in mind. In the NFL for instance if you look back both Dallas and the Giants usually spot opponents an average 3 points because Dallas and Giants fans heavy bettors.

I think Breslow will look to improve the team, regardless of the Sox place in the standings. I think an under the wire trade for a starter, like maybe A's SP Paul Blackburn or Rockies SP Cal Quantrill, maybe even SP Jordan Montgomery from the Diamondbacks. I wouldn't be surprised if Jansen is moved to a team like the Dodgers or Phillies.....it will be an interesting hot stove for sure. I do prefer we keep Hamilton at SS over a hitting liability in Paul DeJong......

    • @redseatradio

Hey Corbin. I think a solid defensive shortstop would be a nice add. I have to admit though I am liking Hamilton's bat quite a bit as well as his speed. He's been robbing the opposition blind with those steals. I have seen David play second base and liked him better from that position. Shorter throw to first. I did see him make some above average plays from there. I wonder if he could handle second base reliably. Except for that shovel pass recently with his glove that didn't work out I think he's shown some improvement. All that being said I am not expecting any big splash's trade wise. Atlanta has a need for an outfielder since the season ending injury of Acuna Jr. Their minor league system is flush with pitching. Might be an opportunity for a smart G.M. P.S. Thanks for putting Bobby at first base tonight! :) :) :) How bout that David Hamilton coming up big again in tonights game vs the Phillies. Bomb to right field. Wow!!!!

I'm in the camp to buy and sell. I think it's very possible with the roster they have. To assume they can't get a wild card berth so you should sell isn't giving the players any credit for being at 500 with all the injuries is a bad message. Now if they were healthy and had this record I'd be all in on a sell side.

The Red Sox play a lot of close games, and he has been a positive. His saves have mattered. I think a trade for a starter and a temporary shortstop might work. They are going to sell but at the same time make a run. They ill sell all the expiring contracts, O'neil, Jansen, Martin, Privetta but at the same time, they will add 2 starting pitchers with multi-year control. Once Romy comes back they have a back up shortstop. If they trade for a shortstop it will be someone multi-year with options. They will trade those contracts for players who can either help the team now or very young players for the future. They have a lot of almost major league players that are eligible for the rule 5 draft this winter. We the roster as it is, they could lose 5 players including: Yorke, Sogard, Lugo, Guerrero, Jordan, Fulmer, Fitts.
By trading Privet and adding Fitts to 40 man and bringing him up gives them a fresh arm until they can trade for 2 more. Give him a little experience while seeing what he can do. Trading away some of the young guys for Major league pictures. We have seen teams have what looked like a firesafe actually go on a playoff run at the end of the year. I believe the Red Sox are a team that can do that. This also fits into the Red Sox new philosophy.
By the way, the Red Sox will have a lot of players on the 60 day disable list which will need to be put on the 40 man roster over the winter.

The only thing I’d like to see now is a sell of O’Neil for a pitching prospect. A lot of people wanting an outfield power bat which could drive his cost up for us. A shortstop would be nice, but we’re all assuming Story will be healthy or Mayer be ready.

Lets be real, if we make the playoffs do we see boston beating teams like yankees, braves, phillies, dodgers? We should keep our current roster until healthy, let them mesh and build chemistry, and hit it hard next year when more talent is availabe. Our rookies are playing big innings and proving to have potential. Let the young core develop and see what they turn into

  • @remaracs6283

I could take it both ways. On the one hand, Sox have been completely snake bit with injuries and they should be getting some guys back. They have 2 documentary crews following them around and this could be Cora’s final season in Boston so you might want to send all of that off in style. They also have a TON of guys they’ll need to protect in this upcoming rule 5 draft and not all of them have futures with the Red Sox.
On the other hand, given how bad they’ve been against left handed starters, how bad they’ve been against above .500 competition, how bad they’ve been at home and 2 teams in the division light years ahead of you in the standings idk how you invest in this team. It’s going to be a very interesting deadline for sure. Still a lot of baseball before it happens

some teams just can’t get healthy. This team feels like it this season. Over 40% of the games have been played thus far and the issues we were worried about going into the season are the same issues we have now. Is there enough depth in SP to carry you thru the season? Probably not. Trevor story is the most important bat in the lineup because he’s a righty power hitter and stunning defensively. Injured for the year. Will the handedness issue rise up considering all of their best hitters are lefties? Absolutely has been the case. We also haven’t been able to really get into a groove from a w/l perspective it’s been win 2 lose 2 all season. We get a few games against weaker teams and maybe we sweep, then we face 2 good teams and go 2-4. I get there isn’t continuity in the lineup but at some point you are who your record says you are. Again, we have over 30 games more to play before the deadline and the schedule lightens up a bit in the coming weeks but if they don’t go on a 15-10 stretch or something like that idk how you can invest in them

Sox need to draft SP. If they draft two more shortstops I think I’ll barf. The Red Sox have a PR problem with the players being let go without paying them. I like the Bailey hiring. Why is Cora being pushed out? Writers need to calm down up there. Stop the blame game. Henry is probably right about his team. They look at least a year away. Being patient this year might be the best way to go. Pretend you are Cardinal fans and just be happy this year to be a baseball fan. Jansen might be someone you trade for highest bidder. He could bring a piece or two. The Red Sox have a sure thing catcher in Teel. I watched him at Virginia and he is getting close to being ready. Mayer looks so much better this year healthy. Time to move Devers to DH. I’d add Yoshida to Jansen as trade targets. Could they be packaged for a young 3B of the future? Possibly one who will be ready about the same time as Teel and Mayer? I would think both players would love the Dodgers. Not sure they want to take on that money. Maybe the Padres or Giants will make things interesting in coming weeks?
