“Growl” is a fully improvised piece that was inspired by the neck pickup of my trusty Peavey Cirrus. The tone of the bass’s neck pickup is traditionally described as “growly” (think P-bass), so it was easy to go there with the title.
Interestingly, though I rolled the pickup blend all the way to the neck pickup, I ended up playing with my right hand over the bridge pickup for part of the piece, probably to add a little bit of clarity to the growl (I say probably because I did it unconsciously!).
Thank you for listening!

Came for the bass, stayed for the virtual world of liking things.
Lovely composition Josh and expertly played as always!
There we go joshy that's what we like to see
Haha thanks Lincoln!
Thanks Josh ' hope all is well
T2 main theme vibes (that root, 2nd, m3 played in succession). Nice moody stuff. Would sound even cooler with some ambient effects like the EQD Afterneath or OBNE Dark Star, played slower (in my opinion, not to everyone's taste). But I liked it nonetheless.
I'll have to check that out, I've only seen Terminator 2 like once many years ago. And agree, this could be cool with some effects. That Dark Star pedal looks really cool! And of course the Afterneath is a trip too, all those EQD pedals are so cool.
I like that you use the high end of the bass register a lot to make chords and stuff. Pretty basic but lots of basis don't even touch upon it (and that's ok)
...what mutant would thumbs down that piece?
Must be a mutant with thumbs!
