I'm English but I completely agree with Horgans comments about England. What ENG can't do is come into the Six Nations thinking they played well in the World Cup. They didn't. They surpassed expectations but didn't play amazing rugby at all. This Six Nations is a big opportunity for them to put how they want to play out there so will be v interesting.
It was mentioned a lot before the World Cup that England scraping past, but on paper looking good would be the worst outcome. The idea you're ever going to out bok the boks is for the birds if they continue with it they will just lose by fine margins to South Africa over amd over. The closeness of the scoreline lies when playing against that style.
We’re all the harshest critics of our own nations mate arent we and that’s fair enough but from my *hopefully unbiased Irish perspective, I think Steve Borthwick and England have had a fine year and I absolutely take your point re WC but even Sir Clive didn’t win a 5/6 nations for I think three years? I’d be more concerned personally for Owen Farrell’s return and a bit of consistency in the squad because ye have some outrageous players, as always haha
@@stabcitySB I appreciate this and I know what you mean. We just need one game where everything clicks to kick on and build momentum a bit like, no disrespect, when we beat Ireland in 2019 Six Nations in Dublin. I think the first Six Nations after a World Cup is the most interesting but England need time. Unfortunately, it seems with every week that passes, more and more ENG fans are questioning the style in which we are playing- not something that can be said of Ireland! Looking forward to having you at Twickenham this year.
@@ElliotG89 Absolutely right, momentum is crucial, it gives you something to play for. It’s almost an embarrassment of riches for England, like rather than having the same 9,10,12 partnership for consecutive seasons I feel like Smith/Ford/Farrell/Care et al have been in and out over the past few years and beyond because there are essentially so many good players to pick from. I think a bit of stability would go a very long way for your boys, given their quality.

Well the weekend really threw a spanner in the camel or the camel in the haystack or something like that with Ireland dismantling France in Marseilles, England having to fight to get a win against Italy and Scotland falling apart in the second half of their game against Wales. Scotland were very lucky to walk away with the win. Italy were very unlucky and Ireland made a statement of intent. I think Wales are in the ascendancy and will only improve as the competition progresses. I'll be very interested to see how France recover from their defeat to Ireland - Will they regain their spark and show that they're still a team to fear? I think the second round will give us all a better inkling as to how this will all pan out.
I’m so shocked by Shane, I truly thought based on the way he looks whilst he was playing that he was the Worlds thickest player … pure sense on England situation
Did they really just leave e.g. Will Jordan out of the winger discussion around Damian Pernaud? Wow, no surprise the Northern hemisphere gets blasted every four years. But mentioning a Mack Hanson who comes nowhere near that.

Try not to sound too bitter Shane Horgan. FairPlay he was a crap player in his day. England were a deliberately collapsed scrum away from making the final.
