This happens alot here in Houston. Here is what the police tell us.
Look for people just sitting in their car at the bank or if they reversed into their parking space.
When you drive away make sure you are not being followed if you are call 911 or go to the local PD.
Or so since you are in Texas make sure you have one in the chamber don’t drive home go to the nearest police station and if they are still following you stand outside your car and when they try to rob you stop them.
I hate that some people must back into a parking space when they park. The way you park doesn’t make you a gangster just in case you aH thinks so.

On your way home, if you don't like the look of a car in your rear view mirror, here's what you do: make three right turns and if they are still with you, you have a problem. Drive straight to the police station. Most criminals though, if they see you keep making rights, they will realize they are made and break it off.

The ATM at our local bank is located on the opposite end of an otherwise empty building, with a huge stand of cattails just yards away where an army could hide. So, I always did my banking inside. Recently the bank has decided that any cash withdrawals have to be done outside at the ATM! They will no longer allow cash withdrawals inside the bank where you'll be safe! I'm currently looking for a different bank to do business with that won't intentionally set me up for a robbery!

Stay Aware of your surroundings, every time I take money out I either take someone with me to watch my back or I am constantly watching around me, sometimes there are shady people just standing by or inside their cars, watch out for everyone! Put your cash in your strapped wallet I usually have a Fanny Pack hidden under my sweater, out the money there and leave. If you must carry pepper spray but have it ready to spray. Sucks that California is turning into such a trashy place.

This has been going on for a long time. This is not new.
How do they know you got a large amount of money from the bank? The tellers must be involved, depending on the bank and their agreement you are only allowed to withdraw no more than $300 from the ATM.
They usually watch if you got envelope in sight- they take a chance to rob you. because of lightened California laws- those "shaded" folks are not scared of robbing in a broad daylight, knowing those are now considered "petty crimes" and if arrested, the liberal DA/judge will let them out the next day! Welcome to lawlessness.
I can withdraw $1,000 from my bank's ATM and anyone within sight of it can see the cash being pushed out the slot for you to get. A different bank that I used to use would allow two $500 withdrawals in a row from their ATM!

First of all, you live in Commiefornia, secondly in the crap state you are not authorized to lawfully use a firearm.
It appears they are advertising the method, rather than informing anyone about it. Wouldnt the more practical way of informing people of this problem, be, to place a bulliten in the bank and around ATMs? Now theyre just giving thieves another heads up.

I think the bank tellers are in on it. They text the person who is sitting outside if someone withdraws a lot of cash. I usually go to the ATM and take out about $200. Then I go home. I live in a gated community. Then you need a have a key fob to get in the garage for our building. Then the actual key to get inside my condo. There are cameras everywhere. We can't even throw away trash without being on camera. So it would be a lot to go through for $200.
Bold that anyone would think that I had money to withdraw.
I rarely go to the bank to get money but when I do I usually carry something with me just in case!

I was in line at Chase Bank and the teller was counting out a large sum of cash to the person at the counter. She wasnt even trying to be discreet about it. The tellers really need to try and count money back to the customers in a more discreet way. And the customer should put the envelope away before walking out of the bank. Be aware of your surroundings. Be safe!

This is always an inside job someone at the bank is tipping off criminals/friends outside.unless someone behind you in line noticed how much you took out and followed you thats the inly way anyone would know. Thats why it has to be someone inside the bank

Here's a few things that I do when I withdraw large amounts of money.
1. I go to one that has a an armed security guard outside.
2. I never go when it's busy. Too many people that can communicate by phone with each other.
3. I park close to the bank. Never far because thats when you can be robbed.
4. I go directly to my car. I never talk to anyone outside, I'm never on my phone, or go to a store next to the bank.
5. I go to banks that open on Saturday and go when they are about to close. There's only like 1-3 people when about to close.
6. This is the most important one. When I go home or to the next destination I take different routes each time. If no car is following me or looks suspicious, I go about my day. Theres been a few times that i thought I was being followed but it was just coincidence. How did i know it was a coincidence? Easy. This is the most important thing I do. I make four right turns. If I'm on A street, I make a right on B strret. Then a right at C street. Lastly, a right on D street. That bring me back to A street. Back to where I started my 4 right turns. Only a car that is following you will make 4 right turns.
Hope this helps. I know depending on where you live you might not be able to do everything I mentioned. At least you can take precaution with most of what I mentioned. Let's outsmart these bad guys. Good luck!

This is why people like to go inside the bank, to be more discreet. But you have bank staff that are trained and forced to yell at customers to use the ATMs. Also, banks are now designing ATMs to be completely exposed outside--secure ATM rooms are being phased out, because homeless often sleep inside there at night.
My bank used to have an ATM inside a vestibule only accessible by swiping my card. Now, it's also outside and don't like using it. Fortunately my banker set up an app on my phone to eliminate having to stand outside in the parking/drive thru area.
