Male lions always have a mane, lionesses don't have one. That's how Timon could tell Nala was a female when she started chasing Pumbaa.

Actually, there are lions in Kenya that don't grow thick manes like other lions do or don't grow them at all. They're called Tsavo lions.

    Scar was the "lying king".

22:00 Actually, spotted hyenas are apex predators and hunt up to 95% of what they eat. Even the striped hyena, which is primarily a scavenger, will still hunt whenever necessary.

My priest did a pretty good Rafiki impression in a sermon a couple weeks ago. He was talking about how sometimes we hear something that is uniquely suited to call us back to who we are meant to be and what changes we need to make. And a person standing next to us won't need that exact realization, so they're just... "Very peculiar weather we're having!"

I know that there are some ministers/pastors who are decent impressionists especially when it comes to Disney - "Jurgen Matthesius" actually does a fantastic Rafiki.

Simba was tricked by Scar twice!!! Not his fault.

It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. Especially the fact that Scar gaslights Simba into thinking it was his (Simba's) fault and Johnathan Taylor Thomas' line delivery.
Also, I am very glad they cast James Earl Jones as Mufasa. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken.
Side note: Some of the character's names have meanings translated out of Swahili
    Simba: Lion
    Nala: Gift
    Mufasa: King
    Sarabi: Mirage
    Rafiki: Friend
    Pumbaa: Slow-Witted
    Zazu: Movement
    Shenzi: Savage
    Banzai: Skulk or lurk
    Taka (Scar's original name): Waste
Timon (His name actually comes from Greek): Respect or Honor

@@petechaklas6168 I'm glad you enjoyed it, but I didn't want another CGI Lion King movie, even if it serves as a prequel that looks into Mufasa's origin.

This movie is actually based on Hamlet, by Shakespeare. So you're not wrong when you say that its themes show up in famous literature! 😁

How did Simba know that the lioness attacking Pumbaa was Nala (41:10)? She pinned down his shoulders in the same way that she had done to him twice previously whilst both were still cubs (just before the elephant graveyard bit); that was enough to jog Simba's memory and make him realise that this was Nala pinning him down and not just some other random lioness.

9:10 And what do you think would happen to the earth's ecosystems if carnivores weren't around to hunt and eat herbivores and stop them from multiplying and feeding off the plant life everywhere?

Well about Ed 16:56 The name itself is sort of a pun. "Ed" as in special ed, ya know special education pupils. Or if need to further spell it out, mentally challenged individuals. Maybe not that intuitive to pick up at first.

He interpreted the film well, he understood the message, it is intelligent and it is true The Lion King as an animated film, it has quite strong and even dark moments that an adult could understand better 👍

Hey if you want more questions on the history of The Lion King check out The Lion King 2 Simba's pride The Lion King 3 hakuna matata or if you live in America it's called Lion King 1 and 1/2. It takes place in between the Lion King and The Lion King 2. Then you got to check out the live-action Lion King with realistic lions and then go to the movie theater dec 20 🎉❤ to watch the new released Mufasa The Lion King in honor of its 30th anniversary. In case you want to know how scar got his scar and how Mufasa became king. According to the trailer, Mufasa was an orphan not born in the royal family.

Actually... Nala its not Simbas friend.. Nala is her cousin, because the Lion leader mates with every female lion, so... Nala and Simba are in a little family affair to be honest.

Let's be honest Disney throws almost any and all real animal behaviour right out the window as soon as it gets in the way of the story.
