Random: Help Save Andy's Dinosaur Reviews Channel

- One of the most prominent dinosaur review channels on RUclips, Andy’s Dinosaur Reviews, is in danger of being shut down. Hopefully this situation can be resolved fairly and civilly, but in case that happens, Andy has created a backup channel.
Most creators put in plenty of time, effort and love into what they do. If there are flagrant violation of rules and obvious malicious or selfish intent, it’s hard to have any sympathy. But this isn’t the case here at all.
Please watch his first video explaining his side of the story, and hopefully someone from Mattel will hear it eventually. Meanwhile, consider subscribing to his channel so that you won’t miss his new reviews. Most importantly, it will give him a starting base of viewers as he recovers from this situation should the worst come to transpire.

Finally, please register your concern to Mattel through their feedback channels, firmly but civilly. The more visibility this gets the better, but if all of it is hostile then it may well cause the opposite effect. That’s not the negativity we want associated with a channel we’re trying to save.
Wow! This was unbelievably kind of you to make this video. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! I actually watch your channel quite often and have become quite the fan. Also my favorite dinosaur as well as Carnotaurus so it looks like we have more in common than we knew. Again I really want to stress thank you so much for doing this and bringing attention to not only the situation but also my new channel as starting over is going to be a nightmare if I can't get this worked out. I truly appreciate what you have done for me here!
An honour to have you here Andy! Thanks for taking the time to write in the midst of what must be a tumultous time for you. I admire your passion and your dedication, and you have to know by now what tremendous goodwill and respect you have. If it comes to having to start over you can be sure many of us will continue to support your new channel as you work on rebuilding.
We will definitely continue to bring awareness and generate publicity. I can't help but feel if a real live human being upper up were to hear of this, they would immediately see the ludicrousness of this situation and the obvious, reasonable win-win solution. I hope your contacts at Mattel can help with this and that you'll get the odl channel back. Andy's Dinosaur Reviews is the reason I started buying and repainting dino figures in the first place. It started with watching his content on repaints, and then started doing my own. I've since repainted tons of figures, and have got pretty good at it. Most people don't even believe I painted them, make the bases from scratch, etc. I've been told some of my best ones look like museum pieces...and they all started with repainting dollar store figures using Andy's work as inspiration. I don't think this would have happened without stumbling upon Andy's videos randomly one day.
Oh yes I recall now that Andy paints himself. I remember now watching a Passion Charger model review from him. This is very sad and a miscarriage of justice. I really hope that at least someone _alive_ from Mattel gets to speak to him. There is a lot of history and love that goes into this. Even _scrolling_ Andy's channel content can take minutes.
All that said, kind words and all, some actual support like subscribing and writing to Mattel is all we can do right now.
It's crazy to me that Mattel would do such a thing when he's basically advertising their products. I mainly collect scientifically accurate models, so I refer to your channel, Killershrewfan, and dinoscream more, but I have to appreciate all of the hard work Andy puts into these videos. He's always releasing new videos, obtaining the figures early, and he always finds all of the positives from every model, even if he thinks they're stinkers. In fact, he got me back into Dinosaur collecting last year with the Nanmu Giga, and even convinced me to get the Monty Requiem Maquette. I really hope Mattel rectifies the situation.
Just look at his video roll. You'll see he uploads almost every day. That's real passion at work. Even if this was his full time job, he certainly doesn't need to be doing that, but he is. I have no doubt he has brought in plenty of business for Mattel. It's almost surreal.
I think that was not a Mattel idea but from Universal. Mattel has always let reviewers talk about the toys, as you stated, it's in fact very good for them, free advertising! But Universal got really pissed off when those leaks came just before the Dominion trailer that's was just about to be released. So they probably asked Mattel to do something inmediately and they did. Notice now there are a lot of new leaked toys that didn't appear in the Dominion trailer and nothing happens, because the trailer has been released.
Great to here your voice DD. Sites like yours and ADR are so good to preview our next prehistoric purchase! Let’s hope we can all get back to just enjoying our dinosaur models!

I much rather just focus on enjoying and reviewing dinosaurs, but when I was told about this I wanted to lend some support, but more importantly encourage some moderation as I've dealth with customer complaints before and I know a little about what happens on the other side. Now for another review!
I actually am a huge fan of Mr. Andy. I've had some message conversations with him and he is so down-to-earth, talented, and so friendly. It is so sad to see something like this happen to a wonderful person like him even though he helped to spread the word about Mattel productions. Mr. Andy's figure collection is without a doubt one of the most amazing and valuable collections I've ever seen. And he pours his blood, sweat, and tears to build his channel and his good name. I'm not a fan of those Mattel products but for those who are interested, I'm sure Mr. Andy helped a lot to decide about the figures through his videos. After all these years it's so unfair for a huge company like this to ruin another person's effort in a few hours. Hopefully, he will get back his channel and continue to give us more amazing videos. ❤
That's one of the most horrible things in this situation. All the volume of fans buying a figure after watching his videos, and then now not even being able to reach a live person from Mattel who could really resolve this quickly and so easily. There's a real, feeling human being behind these videos who doesn't deserve to be just erased like that.
So true. That's the worst part because for such a huge company no one is taking the responsibility and talk back to Mr. Andy. Hopefully they will resolve the conflict 😮💨
I didn't know about the problems of the Andy Dinosaur Review channel that I have been following for some time, now I have also subscribed to his new channel.

Yes I figured that there would be plenty of people who only subscribe to his RUclips channel and also like me, don't really keep up with what is going on. I realised if his channel was frozen, he would not even be able to update his viewers who would still be waiting for his next video wondering what was going on. What we can do is spread the word to fellow fans. Thank you for subscribing to his new channel! The plan is that if he gets his old channel back then he will give up the new one.
Andy’s Dinosaur Reviews is one of my inspirations for making my channel, it makes me sad that he had to start from scratch again.
I think there are some levels to this that only a content creator could truly understand. We aren't just shooting videos aimlessly, we put a part of ourselves, our personality, spirit, and love into it as well. What we can do is to subscribe to his new channel and help him get a headstart, and also write to Mattel to make this issue firmly but politely highlighted.
I recently discovered your channel and you do an amazing job with your videos. I also enjoy Andy’s channel as it’s what originally drew me into this hobby in the first place. What’s happening to Andy is shameful. I don’t involve myself with Twitter or Instagram, but I did send Mattel a civil e-mail concerning this situation. If something like this can happen to Andy, it could happen to just about anyone and that’s scary. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I hope people get behind Andy and do what they can to hopefully undo this travesty. We have to let companies like RUclips, Instagram, and Mattel that this type of behavior is not ok.
Thanks R Tobin. "Travesty" is right. This is really surreal to me. Imagine how many people have bought Mattel's figures because of watching one of Andy's videos. Makes me wonder if anyone is really aware of this at Mattel because it seems a no-brainer to immediately resolve this reasonably.
I'll admit it - I was subbed to ADR before you, DinosDragons, heh. His news videos sometimes contain a gem or two and I've often found about a new release first from Andy.

I hope he gets through this and comes out unscathed. It'd be a shame to lose ADR, but I imagine it'd be crippling for Andy himself.
Speaking as a creator I can certainly attest to that. You can see that he has reviewed almost everything in existence, and to have that all taken away. The most horrible thing is all the Mattel figures he's reviewed for them, and all the sales probably generated for them after watching a video of his. It's a miscarriage of justice.

Videos and messages like this are yet another reason why I enjoy your channel. I was also subscribed to Andy’s channel, am disappointed to see this happen, and will definitely subscribe to his new channel.
It's going to be tough if he really has to take that course, but the least we can do is to make sure he gets a running start and as much interaction and encouragement as he can. This whole thing seems surreal to me. Conventional business says you be grateful to your influencers who bring you publicity, not cut them off at the knees. I wonder how much is bot related and how much a real, reasonable human being from Mattel is actually involved.

The worst thing is Andy not even getting to speak to a _live_ human being from Mattel to resolve this. It would be so easy to do.
Andy’s back. Mattel has seen fit to correct themselves and remove any “dings” from Andy’s channel. Thanks for being one of those people that put the word out. I have to believe that it was a community effort that helped turn this injustice around.
It's the decent thing to do, and it's pain that all content creators can relate to. I've always believed that very broadly speaking, you can always rely on many people to be decent, and most peopel to be motivated by self-interest. Probably a live human being actually heard about this and realised what a lose-lose proposition this was going to be. You don't do this to influencers who help promote your product! Possibly IF a real person and not a bot was involved, Mattel may have received pressure from elsewhere. We'll know more when Andy has a well-deserved rest and update us more! But I'm happy as I'm sure all collectors and creators are! 😁
I've just subscribed to you channel because I've just discovered the incredible quality of the information you share (I appreciate a lot the part with the scientific approach). And because of this video, I think it even adds more to the great person you seem to be. You and Andy are now my favourite reviewers and the only review channels I'm subscribed to.
Thank you very much for your kind comment Gaua1! I decided I didn't want to do straight review videos, but to share what I love and have learnt about dinosaurs. I feel that can either help people make a decision to buy or not, or if they already had it, to then appreciate them even more. Because many times happiness is in appreciating what you already have.
Regarding this video, it was something that I had to do. If you just do a simple scroll through Andy's content you will find it will take you minutes just to do that. You can also see he posts almost every day sometimes, and that kind of dedication is not just about making a living but a real passion. It is an utterly cruel thing to have that under threat through absolutely no fault of his. And even towards the end when he thought he had things sorted, there was still doubt. What a stressful and cruel experience I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Glad he's out of the woods! Thank you for supporting both our channels 😊

As a content creator yourself you can certain appreciate this on an even deeper level. These aren't just video clips, they are works we have imbued and invested a part of ourselves in. In a way it's also connecting with a lot of people we would never have met, so there's the community aspect as well. I remember when Lichlute lost his Transformers channel it hit me hard too, even though I'm not even a serious Transformers collector. We may not watch a certain creators content, but we can certainly understand his pain. The worst thing is there's no recourse and no live person to even appeal to.
@@DinosDragons Its an extremely concerning matter. Us who review dinosaur models aren't trying to involve ourselves in malicious or political agendas, yet are now being cancelled, yet some people that post horrible and obnoxious content are allowed to remain. Its through guys like Andy and yourself that we are informed about the next specimens coming out and are a positive influence on people, especially during them lock downs.
I know. I am personally enraged. Andy loves what he does, and you can tell from his voice how much passion he has dinosaurs figures. I will be deeply saddened if he loses his channel.

Oh man, this is terrible. I can’t believe this channel is in serious danger. I mean I like one of those heads up news videos of whatever Dinosaur Figures might be coming out soon. Such as the Tyrannosaur series from The Beasts of the Mesozoic. See that Andy’s Dinosaur Reviews is backed up & show us some new news videos of whatever interesting Figures or collectibles might be coming someday. I myself have good taste for most things that interest me now & then. Or was it then & now? Which reminds me, I better reply on “Top 10 Safari Ltd Models part 2” so I can say which one of those Figures or Models interests me. Oh & may Andy’s Dinosaur Review be supported to bring us some news videos again.
It's a terrible situation. First on the human level, you feel for him. Second on the justic level, you feel incredulous given how many people would have first watched his videos before deciding to buy a Mattel figure. But third and perhaps worst of all, is having no recourse, no _real_ person to communicate with which could resolve all this so easily.
@@DinosDragons Well, I did say I liked one of the news videos on one of the upcoming Dinosaur Figures or Collectibles that’ll be coming someday. Especially one of those Tyrannosaurs from Beasts of the Mesozoic I look forward to adding to my private & Insurance collection. I have to make sure I have a little insurance Incase if something should happen. Oh & I have yet to see how the Rebor version of the invicta dinosaurs is coming along. I only saw some 3D images & have yet to be painted. Again, I hope Andy’s Dinosaur Review will make a comeback.
This situation must be incredibly stressful for Andy-who obviously throws so much passion and enthusiasm into his channel. Cool see the RUclips community rally around him. Pure class.
He deserves a LOT better. There is a gross miscarriage of justice here. This is not how you treat influencers who support your brand. The whole thing is so surreal that it almost seems that a large part of this is bot-driven. If a real human being upper up were to know of this, I have no doubt they would immediately see what the reasonable solution was.
I always thought while watching your reviews that you have an unbelievable way with words. It‘s impressive. Wonderfully said and I am sure he appreciates it a lot!

I was really glad. I know even after he announced things were clear, he then had problems uploading video and it was still slated to be terminated. So it has been a very very trying time for Andy for sure! I hope he's taking a well deserved break! :)

The thing that's really frustrating is I'm convinced if a REAL human actually became aware of, and handled this, they would see immediately the ludicrousness of the situation. I wonder how much of those rapid strikes were the work of a bot or perhaps someone without real decision making power at Mattel.
On a secondary note I know he's not a toy channel but if somebody or anyone could get a hold of maybe Charlie moist critical he's always tackles soft handed random topics like this out of nowhere and I'm not saying it's highly possible or anything but maybe he might make like a short 5 minute video or something on the topic matter if that's the case it will definitely see RUclips's eyes and maybe something will finally happen with it..

So let me get this straight if I have this correct he got one strike and RUclips wants to delete his channel with no prior strike warnings. Or another scenario he got multiple strikes on the same video by Mattel leading to the deletion of his channel.
But as we just saw currently with a tohie animation case with another RUclips creator there's a rule on RUclips that as a copyright holder you can't put more than one strike on one particular piece of content at a time if Mattel decided to bypass this by any means it breaks RUclips's terms of service which would put Mattel in a serious situation
If this is the case by any means which I'm kind of new to this factor and not knowing what's going on with this particular channel if Mattel is trying to copyright strike him out of Oblivion they can't simply do that unless he's had two prior strikes already one strike shouldn't lead to the deletion of his channel.
It's as simple as that that's why we have the three strike system to begin with even though it's flawed it's still works to some content agree although copyright holders tend to abuse that power treating it as if it's just another day on the job when in reality it's not you're ruining a person's livelihood..
Men at the end of the day that's the funniest story it's all free publicity even if you want to argue people doing reviews of let's say the last avatar on reactions online these people are going to get people interested in the series and they in turn might just pop it on Netflix and watch it themselves and it's even more say when it comes to figures because you're not just there to watch a figure a lot of times if you watch a review on a figure you're looking at an interest to buy but a simple screenshot from a website isn't going to tell you all you want to know about said figure but a review with articulation and everything else will..
So that said when there has been other instances of leaked out content from movies before they released nobody has decided to make it a physical problem besides Mattel until now which also means what if Hasbro starts pulling stuff like that..
It is very worrisome but toy leaks are extremely possible look at the case with the eternals if you're going to put a movie in a back burner for a year you're most likely going to get all your spoilers released in toy format there's no way around that..
The only ones who did a semi-good job of protecting that factor were probably Ghostbusters after life the only leak was muncher if I'm not correct and there was a toy that leaked part of the ending that was never released during pandemic..
Showcase in point I do believe Mattel is in the wrong here the only correction for this would be to remove the strikes from said channel,apologize to said person, and if they really want to go after somebody legally how about not the legal toy representative who was selling the toy at the time under false pretenses as it was their fault that they released it past embargo date.
At the end of the day stuff like this shouldn't be handled as harshly as it is all the time but it is handled as harshly as it is all the time because corporate executives and people who are usually behind the ones giving out the strikes or content warnings don't usually give warnings they go straight for the punch and try to just obliterate you out of existence. This is because copyright law is still sitting in a day and time where people would used to do this for a living with movies and FBI warnings copyright was taken much serious back in the day and although copyright is much different in nature now the laws for are very much the same every single person is treated as if there's some big movie corporation that can shell out thousands of dollars out of whim they're just lucky that they only got their entire channel and livelihood deleted and not illegal lawsuit and that's the problem with copyright law nobody should have to go with that nobody should have to go through that.
And until that's fixed corporations are just going to keep pulling scummy stuff like this without being held accountable and it's a shame because at the end of the day and it all is all free advertising I don't even see that many people making dinosaur toy reviews especially off of the little stuff that Mattel pops out like even when I'm going down the toilet I usually just browse past it unless it's a giant t-rex or something. So it's literally a damn shame that they pull crap like this because well people are simply just going to stop buying their products as a result
Andy's video on his new channel explains the situation exactly but in summary it seems he received notice, took down a bunch of videos, and in rapid succession others were marked as being in violation and before there was time to even breathe, he had three strikes.
The frustrating thing is how much of this is bot handled and how much by a human. Seems to be such an easily sorted out thing if a real live human were made aware of the situation, see how much Andy would have helped in bringing in customers for their toys, and just handle this civilly.
Also, how much of this is Mattel's decision and how much Universal's. Nevertheless what we can do is to bring this ridiculous situation to light as much as we can.
