    Hi DinosDragons, thank you very much for your review of my Spinosaurus Ramses from Mesozoic life. I really appreciate constructive criticism from professional collectors, as it will help me to improve future figures of prehistoric creatures, in the hypothetical case of making them, of course. And last but not least, seeing the figures reach the homes of Kickstarter backers and Shandorashop customers is a dream come true. I deeply appreciate everyone's support and understanding on social networks, especially considering that this is our first figure.

    love the videos! I design and 3d print 1/60th scale models, and your videos are great inspiration, and sometimes great reference, very few channels go over the models in such detail, but having such in depth reviews is a great aid when designing my own dinosaur models.

    I remembered back when this figure was still in its early phases and seeing the actual final product now trickling out is pretty awesome. It's like a figure 2-3 years in the making and it did not disappoint.
    Now I guess my only real criticism as an avid Spino enjoyer is that A. It would be nice if it was more or less 10% smaller to make it more accurate to the 1:35 scale and B. It would have been perfect if the upper chest, body and base of the tail was made a bit wider and more rotund to give it a bit more heft like of a creature it's size. But these are just personal critics and are honestly very minor lol

    Hi! I love your videos, you're my go-to reviewer for dinosaur figures!
    I also got this guy last week, and I was frankly shocked at how large it is. It's completely out of the advertised 1/35 scale, and now I'm torn because it's *beautiful* but far too large for my display.
    Also, I have the exact same problem with the left foot and the base. I have seen a picture in a Facebook group of a figure that didn't have that issue though. I intend to write to Kevin about it and see what's up with that. The leg doesn't look warped though, which is strange. Maybe it's an assembly/leg attachment problem.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  4 дня назад +1

      Thank you for your support but you are too kind! 😅
      I'm delighted that you have yours! I'm sure you'll see in person that it actually looks better in hand than my video might suggest. But damn... that huge size! I thought this would be smaller, and this is really like a showpiece that takes up plenty of real estate.
      Regarding the leg, it doesn't look warped at all, which is why in the end I chose not to heat it up just to fit the hole. I think it's just a miscasting in the mold, and hopefully this won't be an issue in future offerings.

      @@laseriedeladilophosaure9246 Are you saying that PNSO scales are too big? It does not feel like it. Personally I feel that the scale design throughout the body is more realistic and appealing to me than this figure. I am not sure about the legs either. There are reports that the skeletal PNSO used is in itself erroneous due to some claim that it uses leg bones from a juvenile. This is still debatable since they haven't done a bone cross section to find out for sure if it is a juvenile. SO basically, a dinosaur interpretation is still very loose, especially for Spinosaurus, it is very subjective even for a very well known dinosaurs like the T rex.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  9 дней назад

      In choosing models for something so fragmentary and contentious (some might even say "dubious" in measurements), I think there is some leeway for measurements taken.
      I am sure things will change again. So I would stress less, and just choose the one that appeals to me. I would say that as much as I like this Mesozoic Life version, the PNSO is one I would not want to give up for this if I had to choose only one.
      Both are very good models, on very different scales, which is why I didn't compare them directly. The better one is the one that _you_ like! 😁

    Después de un largo tiempo esperando la famosa figura de Spinosaurus de Mesozoic Life, por fin llegó. Creo que hay ciertos detalles que podrían haberse mejorado, sin embargo, tiene muchos puntos buenos y me gustaría resaltarlos primero. La textura de la piel es posiblemente la más precisa en cuestión de tamaño en comparación a las "escamas gigantes" que presentan algunas figuras de grandes marcas como PNSO. Este detalle me parece de gran valor, ya que se ve poco. Otro punto importante es el pintado, que parece tener muchos más detalles y transiciones de las que aparenta a simple vista. Lástima que el gran acabado facial se vea cortado de forma tan abrupta en el patrón blanco de los laterales de la cara del animal, por el corte de las piezas del molde... Y con respecto a los cortes en las piezas del molde, ese es el punto negativo más notorio. Los cortes en la cabeza del animal y la sensación de un mal acabado del interior de la garganta del animal... La cabeza, aunque sea una parte pequeña, causa muchísima impresión en toda figura de cualquier terópodo y hay que darle siempre un extra para evitar caer en "lo típico". Un buen degradado de color del blanco del rostro hacia el cuello y un buen acabado del interior de la garganta, harían que la figura fuera mucho mejor de lo que ya es. Sobre la base... Es mejorable, pero hay figuras que ni siquiera llevan un extra a modo de soporte y se pasan la mayoría del tiempo tiradas por el suelo por su mala estabilidad. Así que, enhorabuena a su creador y esperemos que lleguen más figuras de su línea y que estas tengan mejor suerte en su producción. Gracias, amigo por traer una reseña tan esperada de una figura que ha dado tanto que hablar durante mucho tiempo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

      ¡Ah, gracias por tu análisis detallado!
      De hecho, la proa es un punto central para muchos modelos, por lo que realmente era la parte más importante a tener en cuenta, seguida de cerca sólo por la vela.
      Las demarcaciones en los colores de la pintura son realmente muy marcadas y estropean las aplicaciones de pintura más sutiles en otros lugares.
      Realmente espero que Kevin Miguel tome esto como una valiosa experiencia de aprendizaje y que su próxima oferta sea mejor y también menos estresante para él. Estoy seguro de que cuando la gente tenga esto en la mano, apreciarán que tiene puntos positivos y estarán dispuestos a darle otra oportunidad si decide seguir este modelo.

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  18 дней назад

      It's hard to talk about accuracy because many people believe (myself included) that the current iterations that are based off Ibrahim et al's work are not all convincing in terms of proportion. We don't have enough bridging specimens to help us make an accurate estimate of hindlimb length.
      Given the arguments against Spinosaurus being as adept a swimmer as initial papers might have you believe, it seems likely that both wading models fall into the realm of believability. This Mesozoic Life ones looks less awkward as it hints strongly at some help from the front limbs for occasional support. And price wise, it's hard to say because I don't know how much shipping works out for you for either of these models 😢
