Can’t wait for this build! I have basically the same van on order. I’m planning on sleeping side to side but without flares. Just by jetting out inside the frame. I’m 5’10” so I think I can swing it. Keep making awesome videos!
Your smile is so warm! Sometimes I have to watch video multiple times as I am here to learn but I often get lost in your smile. Thank you for sharing the build! ☺️
Looks really nice. The Ford seems a step above the Ram and the lift kit gives it a nice stout look. Will be watching your progress, thanks for the great vlogs!
Love your videos! Will you use Thinsulate again for insulation? If so please video the process. Are you heating the floors? How much space do you gain with the additional flares on each side? Will it accommodate a 6'2" person? Thank you!
So glad you are doing another build! I do wish Ford made a true 4x4, not just the AWD. I am tempted to get one of the Ford Transits 2016-2019 with fairly low miles, have a Quigley 4x4 system put on it, and then have it built out. I love really getting onto four wheel drive roads. Sadly my 4x4 Xterra was totaled last year and it is so missed. At 75 I still love doing that :)
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds Thanks! I agree, I haven't met another peer doing so, except occasionally online:) When I try to get others in their 70's and 80's to go they normally look at me like I have two heads:)
Did you put furring down under the 1/2 plywood subfloor? If so, can you share the size (1x1, 1x2, or?) dimensions of the furring strips for the floor? There are a million videos on subfloors (and I have even purchased van build guides) and no one states the size of the furring needed for a 148 wb HR transit van.
This is the van I am most interested in, cannot wait for this build series!!! How tall is this van with the lift kit and roof rack? I know they are about 10 inches taller than Promaster to start with, but how tall with all the needed goodies?
I like the awd but the inside is not as big as the ram, am I correct in that? Also, sleeping side to side, would you recommend flarespace? Or being 6'4" it doesnt really matter? Which has the most room inside, ford or ram? Im fairly sure you won't speak ill of anything you use or may use but the above questions I've had for some time and because we're about the same height and size I'd love your in put. Also! Awesome video as per the usual!
I’m willing to speak Ill on anything worth speaking Ill about! Being 6’4 sleeping side to side in the Ram is going to be painful. The flarespace gets you 81” horizontal in the transit which is awesome. So with the bed sideways in the transit will actually get you more floor space than a promaster with the bed lengthwise. Transits will also let you stand straight up once the ceilings are in. The Ram you’ll be hunching.
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds so the ford has more space? I had thought for awhile the promaster had a lot more room. I believe the specs say it has more room. But, seeing your vid and reading the chat it obviously must not be the way. Being able to stand straight up is a major plus! Also! Kudos for being able to speak your mind, I've seen youtubers that won't in fear of not getting a sponsor or whatever
@@Tracor3k99 I was saying a Ford with the flarespace and bed side to side will give you more space than the Ram with the bed lengthwise. The Ram may have a tad more space stock since its a couple inches wider and longer. But not much. And yeah I’m not worried about that stuff!
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds looking for more info just now, I stumbled across another youtubers video that measured each vans dimensions in all the different locations to be measured. The ford, like you said is significantly taller, which yep that is awesome, not having to stoop is pretty great. While the ram is less than an inch wider at its widest. Ford 76.125 while the ram is 76.875 but then we have the 156 vs 148.. Maybe I'll just get one of those giant ups trucks lol but those things are around $100k newish. With that height and the awd you have given me more to think about
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds thank you for the reply. For a basic solar set up with 2 200 watt panels or 3 100 watt panels, what sole kit did you need and what number watt goal zero box to you have to go with it?
@@GriffinHill he wants an AC unit on the roof. The 1500x is good for your standard build! I have links to the ones I bought in a couple of my electrical videos :)
After this video, I went to my local Ford dealership and they had nothing in stock for Transits. I would have to put in an order which could take a year or I can drive to Idaho and pick up a 2022 Promaster in a few days. Would you settle or order an wait? My dealership also said it's MSRP so I won't have to deal with mark-up.
@@AnkeneyVanBuilds yeah, I'm going to sleep on it. Maybe I'll look for an old van and work on that until the Transit arrives. That way I can get some practice and won't pass out from cutting a giant hole in the van. I can always post it on RV Trader for 3x the cost. Lol.
Love that you continue to make these build series videos!

I am using thinsulate! I am not heating the floors. The van will have a heater in it tho. The flare space gives you 81” across!
I can't wait to see how this turns out

You should checkout this video. It has two AWD transits in there that killed the 4x4 Sprinters.
