Hard to put into words how those snapshots caused a flood of emotions for me. I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived some of those moments in remote wilderness camps. As crazy as things may be today, even a weekend of getting together with old friends off the grid is soul cleansing.
Thank you so much for sharing that Jeff. This is why I made these three videos, because for some people it brings back fond memories from years ago. I can remember my dad getting ready for some of these hunting trips, when I was growing up. He always came home in November with a deer and a couple Christmas Trees, all tied onto the car (not together mind you) 🙂 I think the deer was tied into the hood of the car and the trees were on the car roof!
Yes the Christmas trees were a sure thing the deer not so much. Thanks for your work the images and music go well together brings back memories. I was only a boy at the time most of the pictures were taken I’m jealous of the quality of their lives back then. Thanks again
I have an old photo of my grandmother in red flannel coat, rifle in the crook of her arm and a buck stretched across the hood of a Willy’s Jeep. Love that image!
Yes, the days when people actually talked to each other, cared about each other and weren’t too busy text messaging. Simpler but much better times in my book. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos. God bless. 🙂🙏🏻👍🏻💕

What a beautiful montage. I wish I could’ve experienced a day out in the woods hunting in the late 1940s -50s. What a great montage of memories and a perfect choice of music as well… my gr-grandmother’s boarding house which I grew up in hosted 20-25 hunters every deer season and was a special time with some great memories for me. I also have many pics from days past of the friends and traditions made on my family farm in the Catskills of NY. The old ash tree finally died but not before the numerous big bucks that adorned its lower branches from successful hunts had made their way into some incredible pictures… to see the 8 big racks on those deer and the proud hunters posing under them is a long tradition that lives in that 8 x 10 I cherish in my game room..
What wonderful memories for you Richard! Thank you for sharing those memories here. I’m so glad you have the pictures, and I appreciate you stopping by.
I'm 75 years old and was born and raised in Northern NY in the Adirondack foothills. This brings back so many memories of my youth and my Dad and his friends. Thank you
Great job love the images of the old camps. If only those walls could recall the stories that entertained on cold winter nights. Jokes and tall tales possibly later on when the younger generation was sleeping war stories. The new generation will probably never know or understand how much time in deer camps meant
Thank you. Those men worked hard when they were there at times, but they also pulled some jokes on each other as well. As a family when we would visit, it was so peaceful with a fire going in the old stove, no traffic, no electricity. Oh, I bet they had some great stories. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it.
Those photos sure bring back memories of my youth..Time when family and friends would gather here in the North woods of Michigan… Remembering the 50 and 60s..Never missed a deer season..starting at 13 and I’m 71 now..
Awe, thanks so much for sharing that Eric 🙂 I appreciate it. I have more slides from this collection to process and then I’ll put out a part 3. I’m happy to share, and Glad you enjoyed.
I'm right behind you Eric. Never missed an Opening Day, of Deer Season from 15 until now 62, and I'll be climbing into a Tree-stand ,Sunday morning, God willing !
I got misty on this one boys. Thinking about my dad and brother at camp. Especially the pic where he's shooting out of the door, my dad did that too. When we weren't deer hunting we ran beagles for rabbits and pat'ridge. Dad's gone and it sure leaves a hole, but I'm passing this on to my little brother now. Thank you
Hi Scott, I’m sorry for your loss. Hold onto those fond memories you have. I’m glad to hear you’re passing the tradition on to other family members. Thanks for sharing your memories.
Kat in the North, you are so, so lucky to have all these old photos. I am betting all the family members in these photos are smiling down and saying thank you for remembering us all. Such a nice presentation of days gone by with family.♥
Thank you so much. I’m very thankful that they were gifted to me, from a cousin. They are all slides, and with no slide projector, it got tricky to turn these into digital, but I did it. The original slides are now put away. I’m glad to share, and happy for the positive responses. It makes this project well worth sharing. I appreciate you stopping by and commenting.
Reminds me of my grandfather's photo album from his days in camp thru these same decades til we found our own 80 acres in green county I still think back when I was first starting going to our camp grandpa would set up the slide projector on Thursday night an my brother, father, cousins and hunting buddies would listen to tales from grandpas younger years every year buck was a lil bigger lil farther away an always tons of snow my grandpa has been gone now 22 years an I would give everything I have to watch 1 more slide an gear 1 more tall tail. No one can understand the feelings one gets from spending time together outdoors unless they have done it. Great video I really needed to watch this with my grandpas anniversary coming in a few weeks thank u for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing. There is a part 1 too this as well, but you may have seen it already. These were actually slides as well, so it is interesting to read about your fond memories. Having no slide projector myself, I took each individual slide, photographed it in bright light, edited, and now they can be shared digitally. It was a slow process but it was worth it to me. My father, grandfather, uncles and cousins always had a good time at the old hunting camp, and the stories! I’m so glad you enjoyed this video. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Back in the good old days where everyone gave you permission to hunt, and hunters were respectful of their neighbors and all that the outdoors had to offer. The old Woolrich plaid hunting suits did their job before fluorescent orange took over. Now that was a real "cabin" not like some of the camps now days. thank and keep em coming.
this is Excellent thank you for posting...... its not so much the hunt its about being in nature you can clearly see this in a few photos.....just wonderful
Thank you for memory lane ! I grew up in western maine, i remember the hunting and the snow with dad and my next older brother. Live in maines sister state now in the midwest. Thanks again miss kat! And if i have misjudged the name i do apologize! Blessings to you and yours!
Great video!!!! Im lucky enough to have had the same experience for the past 22 years and in 46 days I’ll head back to Vermont for my 23. Cheers to all the good people and memories in our lives. Thank you for sharing
My Grandfather and his Best Friend built a camp in Northern Maine (closest town was Patton) we hunted there for years and took many large White Tail bucks. Got my first buck with a single shot .410 shotgun with a slug not 200 yards from the camp at 7 years old. Gramp taught me and my brother all about weapons and how to Properly use them safely and with accuracy. We had spent many an hour with single shot bolt action .22s learning how to be still behind the weapon. Years later those drills helped me easily pass Sniper School at MTU, Fort Benning, GA.
Wow! Thanks so much for sharing that. You must have wonderful memories, and your first buck at age 7! That’s so awesome and I’m sure you made your grandfather proud. Very cool! Thanks!
I love Maine. My son and family moved to Ellsworth a few years ago. I visit as much as I can. I just returned to NJ a couple of days ago. I don't like leaving. I traveled up to Calais this time. What beautiful country! So wide open, both the land and sky. Causes me to praise my God. Next time I want to drive to Greenville. I too am a Christian and I echo your sentiments. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to more of your videos. Thanks for sharing your story there in Maine.
Thanks Karen! I’m glad you’re able to get away for awhile. It’s nice up in Ellsworth, I have family there as well. Greenville is a nice place to visit. I’ve been there quite a few times. I appreciate you stopping by and subscribing. I don’t post as often as I used to, but I thank you. Take care, and God Bless!
Our family had a hunting camp in Northern Michigan, starting in the 40's. We last hunted with family members in the early 70's. It was a great way to grow up.
😢😢Thank you for sharing with us. Happy simpler more innocent times. I think much kinder. Children had a childhood didnt know or hear things too old for their innocent ears, played in the fresh air all day. People had much less but felt like they had the World. This was very moving beautiful thank you for sharing with us the music was just right 🙏🏼♥️🙏🏼
Thank you Mary! You are so right!! It was a simpler more innocent time. My father, grandfather and other relatives are in this video, and when I watch it I can’t help but tear up. I loved going there with my parents and sister. I appreciate you stopping by, and God Bless!
Reminds me of our hunting camp in Vermont every year like eight of us would go my uncle Freddy was awesome he loved the woods he would stay even when season was over had lot of memory's of everyone's first buck even mine
Thank you for watching ♥️ This is the second video of the hunting camp I’ve done, and every time I watch them, they still bring me to tears. I loved that camp. Blessings to you!
I also was very fortunate being able to experience this in the late 80’s and 90’s with a family up in east millinocket Maine, memories I’ll never forget! So much so I built a camp of my own and had friends and family join me for some hunting adventures and memories as well.
I was lucky enough to experience a very similar hunting camp set up like this in Belfast Maine best times with dad and friends. These great old time pictures warm my heart!!!
Very nice. We have a 4 generation deer camp in northern Vt. Times may change, people change, life changes but the memories made in the woods, up ta camp or on the water always stay rich and warm.
That’s wonderful! I’m so glad it’s still in the family. In his later years, my father found so much comfort & relaxation whenever he went to the camp. I’m sure he reminisced while there. Thank you for commenting.
I had to watch this video twice, then my wife watched it. Wow just breath taking. Lots of pausing to look around. Best 40 minute video I've watch in a long time.
I some how stumbled onto this video, probably because i seek vintage hunting type videos. I have to say it was a wonderful 5 and a half minutes. I felt like i was watching the intro to Band of Brothers and i guess in a way i was. You did a wonderful job putting this piece together and im quite sure you have many family members who appreciate it. I do and im a stranger. Thank you for sharing those memories
Love this, so relaxing. I wish my father and grandfather had had cameras of their hunting trips, I have heard so many stories and was a delight as a kid to gather on the wharves and hear their hunting and fishing stories.
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed. I am very thankful that the “slides” were gifted to me by my uncle’s daughter. Not having an old slide projector, it was a bit of work to produce these pictures, but so worth it! I enjoyed putting it all together. I appreciate you stopping by.
What a great video. Even though I don't know these people, this video made me feel as if I were family. Kind of sad to think most or all of these folks are no longer with you. Thank GOD the memories will always be there. Thanks again for sharing your memories.
Thank you so much Elmer, I’m glad you enjoyed. I’ve still got some more old hunting slides to process and then I will get another video out. I appreciate you stopping by!
brought a tear to my eye I was the young kid once now the hunting companions are gone or gave it up....i thought i would give it up also ....but your presentation changed my mind I may only be out a little while but I will be in the field at least one more year if even by myself.....
Thanks so much for sharing that with me. I really appreciate it. My dad is gone now, but in his later years when he couldn’t hunt anymore due to health, he would still go to camp (sometimes alone). He would reminisce, cut the grass, and watch the wildlife. I have a couple more of these videos coming out soon. I appreciate you stopping by and commenting.
Thank you! 🙂 I remember my dad preparing for those hunting trips. It used to be a quiet & peaceful place, but a lot of ATV’s go through that area now, and they’ve dug the nice trails all up. Different times now. I appreciate you stopping by my friend 🙏🏼
Good morning Ms Kat I wish we had them days back it was nice n peaceful back then I hope everyone is doing good I enjoy the good video thank you for sharing the good video you n your family have a bless day 👍👍
It is a real blessing to have old family photographs. When I hear of fires, floods, etc. I always think of the terrible loss of evidence of who they are and where they came from found in old photos, documents, mementoes, letters, etc. Memories are wonderful but they only go back as far as you do but the "paper trail" can go back many generations. Thanks for sharing your precious past.
Thank you Eldon. These were slides that I received from a family member when she discovered them in a collection of items that once were her husbands, and prior to that they were her father’s. No one seemed to want them, so when I was offered them, I was so excited. I don’t have a slide projector, but I was able to put the slides up to light and take a picture of each one. From there I edited each picture into what you see right now. I am happy to share them here for others to see and enjoy. Growing up in the 1960’s I have fond memories of the old hunting camp. And, seeing the old pictures of my father, uncle, grandfather, and cousins has been wonderful. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for sharing this part of your life! I just love seeing pics like this, of generations of yester-year enjoying the great outdoors. Best wishes to you and many thanks!
Grew up rural, I remember people from out of state coming north to hunt. Deer camp was special to them. It was every day living for us. We were poor, but we didn’t know it.
@@chiefjoseph8154 Thanks for sharing that. These men were related and lived in the area, but they always enjoyed getting together at the hunting camp. My father went to camp until he couldn’t do it anymore for health reasons. I appreciate you stopping by!

Thank you Michael, this is the 2nd one I’ve done on the camp. Growing up, I loved going there. In those old pictures is my grandfather, father, uncle, and cousins. I remember my dad getting ready for hunting season every year. He’d get everything together a day or two before. In a couple pictures here, there’s a relative wearing a long white nightshirt. He was on his way to the outhouse, and upon his return, it was discovered he got locked out of the camp! Of course it was all done in fun. His attempt to hurry back into the camp was caught on camera by my uncle 😅 They were always pulling pranks.
This was a time when life wasn't complicated. Great video, thank you.
Thank you!
I'm 75 years old and was born and raised in Northern NY in the Adirondack foothills. This brings back so many memories of my youth and my Dad and his friends. Thank you
@@michaelmonnat7765 Thank you so much for sharing that Michael. I’m so glad it brought back some nice memories for you. I appreciate you stopping by!
@donaldvonlintig8445 Good luck to you!

Hello! You’re welcome, and thank you so much for stopping by.
Loved these videos.
Thank you, I’ve got a couple more coming out at some point. I appreciate you stopping by.
Thank you! Better times for sure. I’m glad you enjoyed. Thanks for stopping by!
this is Excellent thank you for posting...... its not so much the hunt its about being in nature you can clearly see this in a few photos.....just wonderful
Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for memory lane ! I grew up in western maine, i remember the hunting and the snow with dad and my next older brother. Live in maines sister state now in the midwest. Thanks again miss kat! And if i have misjudged the name i do apologize! Blessings to you and yours!

Great job, this brings back memories of my cousin's deer camp in Maine, near Kingfield. I got to experience it in the 70's and 80's.
Thank you Dave, it’s nice to have those memories. Thank you for stopping by!
Very cool! Thanks!
Oh what memories this video brings back. The old hunting camps.
Awe, really? 🙂 I hope they are good memories.
This was really great - really nice video. I love the old hunting heritages.👍

Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed. I am very thankful that the “slides” were gifted to me by my uncle’s daughter. Not having an old slide projector, it was a bit of work to produce these pictures, but so worth it! I enjoyed putting it all together. I appreciate you stopping by.

brought a tear to my eye I was the young kid once now the hunting companions are gone or gave it up....i thought i would give it up also ....but your presentation changed my mind I may only be out a little while but I will be in the field at least one more year if even by myself.....
I love the 'Elmer Fudd" look. Very relaxing video. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Thank you! 🙂 I remember my dad preparing for those hunting trips. It used to be a quiet & peaceful place, but a lot of ATV’s go through that area now, and they’ve dug the nice trails all up. Different times now. I appreciate you stopping by my friend 🙏🏼

I remember going to hunting and fishing camps as a kid. I’m still an outdoorsman, but it’s more of a solitary thing for me now.
Thanks for sharing, and stopping by. For my dad in his later years, it became more solitary as well.

During off season, we visited when we could (as a family outing). I loved it there. Nice and quiet, peaceful, and an ice cold spring was our drinking water. My father went to camp until he couldn’t do it anymore for health reasons. I appreciate you stopping by!

Kat what a special video. Those were some of their fondest times. Life is but a blur and you miss it. A lot of the camps in my youth are some of my biggest memories. All my buddies are gone. Except 2 and life has taken us apart.
I’m sorry all your buddies are gone now, but hang onto those fond memories my friend, and God Bless!
These are amazing photos. I'm so glad you recognize their value and have shared them. And the music these images are paired with is perfect.
