Well, the first Crew Dragon flight was named ‘Launch America’ with a heavy stress on ‘American astronauts on American rockets from American soil’ so not really for all human race anymore. Its good to see that China is willing to collaborate with international partners while the US has a policy excluding nations/companies
A backup core module that is already built could be launched after 2025. Along with another 2 lab modules (likely to cooperate with ESA) the CSS could reach twice the Phase I size.
@@archangel7052 China's modular space station is designed to be continuously expanded by increasing the number of core modules, and each core module can theoretically be connected to two experimental modules. According to reports, Italy has decided to sign a contract with China and manufacture an independent experimental module to connect to the second core module. Russia or other countries may also use Chinese core modules and their own experimental modules in the future. China’s space station may become the next-generation international space station.
An amazing engineering feat....just wish our entire planet had been partner's since the beginning of space exploration, we could have been so much further by now
well this station is developed and managed by China alone so you can't expect it to be as big as the ISS. And its size is comparable to Mir which was operated by the soviets before. And im sure given the modular structure of space station they could add more modules in the future but 1 core module plus 2 experiment lab modules is what they planned. of course the whole system also includes the manned spacecraft and next gen manned spacecraft plus the unmanned supply ship.
ISS's core station is Zarya: 13.1m (Length)x4.35m(Diameter), China's core station Tianhe: 16.6m(L)x4.2m(Dia). It's actually bigger than ISS's core module.
Congratulations China Space Agency, it's a great opportunity for humanity and invite another nations. Space should be like sports, a moment for peace between people. Don't forget Portugal, too. Cheers fr Madeira island. Ivo Pestana 🍀
The launch of this unit coincided with the death of a worldwide hero astronaut:Michael Collins. He sure was great inspiration to ALL space-engineers, pioneers. So what about giving the name "Mike Collins Space Habitat" to this module? He would be too modest to think of it -But it would be giant leap over gravity of nationalism.

So the space station is going to be way bigger than just the two side modules?

Cause this is only one core station module, and actually it is much bigger than the ISS core mission module.
