We have a realtor and are looking in the DeLand area for a house. We LOOOOOVE to fish and look forward to Lake Beresford!!! Thank you for the great video!
My grandparents lived on the lake in a retirement park with lake access and we used to go down the st john's river all the time. Great memories there. It's a beautiful place! The only had part was the cotton mouths or water moccasins
YIKES... I think I fear those cotton mouths more than the gators. They're much more stealthy. I've probably only seen one or two. They're so aggressive too.
Ooooh LaLa what a close call I was expecting a gator or something and here I was thinkin we on the west coast only got unexpected oversized visitors like that while fishing! I thought that was a baby walrus! 😂
hahaha. Thank God it wasn't a gator! They don't sneak up like that. They're skeered! I'm planning to take the yak into the springs soon. There will be hundreds of manatee there. Now THAT's fun!
@@OldLadyAngler I can't wait to see that one. that Berlypro Roader got you turning on a dime that'll make it easier on those long runs when your trying to Maneuver through different channels! I don't subscribe to either of the boxes right now. I was getting too many duplicate lures, so I decided to take a break from LTB and MTB. It's fun to get the boxes though. Makes you try new lures that you might not otherwise use.
@@OldLadyAngler yeah that's why I was thinkin about changing, but if MTB does the same. I think it's smart to take a break as well I have way to much tackle, but on delivery days it feels like my Birthday or Christmas! Well have a great day thanks for the early morning chat! 😁👍🏾
Another great video! They got me one time too! I had about three of them come play with me and they always get you because they come up and blow that air hah
that is so awesome...an encounter with a manatee and you filmed it..freekin awesome. There is a lake I go to and there's a couple of loons. I swear, when they go underwater to hunt and they do it around your boat, that is a spectical to see. I'm gonna try to film it next summer....only next summer cuz guess what? That was a SUPER cool encounter. I just re-watched the video. I hadn't seen it in a long time. Thank you for reminding me. That manatee was SO cute!!! And that scream I did. LOL. I'd love to see the loons!! When your ice / snow melts!!! Stay warm, friend!!!
It's a fun area to fish in the fall..not so much in summer ..very rude boaters flying at high speeds...I had manatees actually get under my yak and tow me out to the lake...fun and scary at the same time... I think maybe they thought I was a distant cousin because my yak is a gray muddy kind of color😂 Be very very careful launching as water moccasins I have found a few in the lilly pads and at the dock where the ferry goes to transport people to island...great video as always!
Yeah there were a few huge boats that just flew by me. Got me rocking and rolling. I would avoid this lake in the summer / weekends. Might be ok mid week. I'm always on the lookout for moccasins. Hate those snakes! Nasty mean! I saw SO many manatee early when I got there. I guess they hide out when it gets busy.
Few things T. 1st, I'm jealous; looks like it was a beautiful day for you on the water. I went sledding today with my little one and there is ice already forming on shallower waters. 2nd, that was freaking awesome! What was that? A sea lion? And it wasn't a high pitched ear piercing scream from you. A nice subdued yell of surprise lol. 3rd, the BerleyPro Rudder. I need to know your thoughts on this because I've been eyeballing one for 6 or more months now. I like it better than the Boondox because I don't think it puts too much torque on the rudder cables like the Boondox does. And I just saw there's been a price drop on it at the Berley website. Let me know if you think it's worth the price. Thanks!
It was actually HOT again today! I know I shouldn't complain.... It beats ice fishing! That was a manatee. They're pretty harmless, but I would hate to spook one and have it roll me! I actually only did the BerlyPro steering upgrade. Not the rudder. I wish I had done this long ago. I can turn on a dime now. I actually see no need for a new rudder. Maybe you could try just the steering upgrade first. I think you'll be pleased! Thanks for watching
Thanks T for the info. Yeah I've seen the steering upgrade from Berley also. Which looks sweet but I was thinking the rudder would keep you a little straighter without having to make constant hand adjustments. Lol and as I was looking around I found a trolling motor mount at ACK for the Slayer Propel series. Now I like paddle or peddle power but that would be interesting for fishing bigger bodies of water without the Torqueedo price tag.
A lot of people that have the Boondox says it makes a big improvement on tracking when going long distances. Did you check out that Native Transom Motor Mount? Drops in the same place the propel drive goes. Not sure if you're interested in electric power on your Slayer but if you are it's something to look at. Drop a cheap 30lb thrust trolling motor in there and you've motorized power.
Maybe the rudder would help my tracking! Might be worth a look. The transom motor mount sounds cool but I'd have to add a battery to my kayak and I'm trying to keep from adding more bulk. That's part of the reason I don't have a fish finder. Don't want another piece of equipment to maintain.
haha. Yeah they're super cute and gentle. It just startled mebecause I'm on HIGH alert for gators. I was talking to the camera and I heard a loud breath on the right. That's why I looked over. And BAM! A huge chubby face staring right at me. haha.
