    The sound of disappointment when it came up 0.000 2" out of square was clear. You are a true perfectionist. The precision of your tools would be truly wasted on me at the moment. I'd be pleased holding 0.001" though I love all the attention to detail you and Robin, Stefan put into fixturing, measuring etc. to accomplish the work you do.

      The first time using fixtures always come with a learning curve. I already figured out a few things I need to watch for that will make a difference for the better.

    Beautiful work and a joy to watch, as always. CDT is a great company, they've been a customer of ours for years. They made us a CBN profile wheel to finish the o.d. of some very small carbide rolls we made for a wire mill, considering the different surface footages across the profile, everything held up well and did a beautiful job. Nick, the son of the man that started the company in his garage, has taken it to the next level. He's purchased diamond tooling companies from all over the world and brought the work to New Haven, In. The new facility is world class and all the guys are great to deal with. Glad to see a true craftsman using their tooling!!

      Once you learn a few tricks and a little practice it's not so bad. Your machine has to be good and your mag chuck has to be very flat.

    Hello Steve,
    Thanks for another great video on setups and grinding. BTW do you still have that Jig Grinder and what did you say was wrong with it?

    • @SolidRockMachineShopInc
      @SolidRockMachineShopInc  4 года назад

      Yes I do! It grinds a about .0002 per inch in the Y axis. It would need a rescraping job. It still comes in handy if you map the table points there are a few spots it seems to be good.

      @@SolidRockMachineShopInc So is it the table or the spindle that is out by .0002"?

    • @SolidRockMachineShopInc

      My guess is the part moved with the tightening of hold down screws. I will do a few minor tweaks to improve it next run.

      @@SolidRockMachineShopInc Hi Steve, About your jig grinder, if it is the table surface I could lightly grind it on my surface grinder to within .0002" if you ship it out to me.

    • @SolidRockMachineShopInc
      @SolidRockMachineShopInc  4 года назад

      Hi Eric,
      I answered the last question from the thumb nail icon of the video and did not realize this was in relation to the Jig Grinder. The table on the Jig grinder is good. There is something else going on with it. A friend thinks it is in the taper adjustment and needs to be tweaked. I haven't tried messing with that yet. Thank for the generous offer though. What size grinder do you have?
