This is awesome, Families need real homes and security for the children...plus they have real ownership having actually worked to build their new home, imagine the pride and happiness moving in to live there
Expenses affect HOAs too. Insurance costs, utilities, services all cost more today than yesterday. It’s unfortunate, but a new needs based resident will move in.
Take anyone with building experience and start rehabbing the Slums . These large old houses rotting away changed into apts .for the builders and their families . Teach the building trade . Rehabbing old delapitated areas .
Yeah this location is not a bad neighborhood/“slum” also like 5minute walk to the police training center… the property was an eyesore before. Dragging out volunteers to manage mismanagement. Habitat for humanity? Idk visit Americorp for volunteer adventures of y not to fund a good idea.
If I could not afford to live in the city that I want because it is too expensive, I would move to another. Affordable housing is not possible in SF. The elected democrats in California want to eliminate proposition 13; that limits property tax yearly reassessments. Meaning those people who worked very hard and paid their taxes for decades will have to sell their house because they can no longer pay their property tax, when their property is reassessed. They are going to put seniors out on the street.
60 000 empty uinits in san ferancisco. sf dont need more housing necessarily. they need the real estate industry to be regulated more. tax the rental properties corporations til it s not profitable, have the banks help renters buy the buildings they are renting. they're paying the mortgages anyway.
Let me guess, African Americans will get 90% of the units….like always. Always be needing the most government assistance. Always needing the most hand outs.
Yes, you give food to people who are hungry and clothes to the clothesless...if more African American families need housing then it's obvious they would get that opportunity

@@Adrian-op5ni you know that white people are on welfare too? It is true that 37% of welfare recipients are black compared to 29% white but look at some of the states with the highest poverty, it's not because of black people, it's because the states don't do enough to attract business and job opportunities. They also have the lowest minimum wages. Nobody is getting rich on minimum wage, unemployment benefits or Meager welfare checks. I'm not defending the people who are truly lazy and feel entitled, I am defending people who are never given any opportunities in life despite working as hard as everyone else...many times harder than the more fortunate of us
@@Adrian-op5ni and, for the love...black people were slaves up until 1863, they have only been free for 160 years! The slaves didn't have money or property. Alot of black people have prospered and been successful over the 160 years but as I said, if they lived in a poverty ridden state, the odds were against them. I don't consider slavery an excuse for not succeeding but it definitely wasn't an asset starting out for people
The need is great for more homes through Habitat for Humanity! So happy for these families, and appreciate all those who made their dream a reality.❤️

Displaced from their homes in the 60 s and 70 s...these are not THOSE folks that you are showing here.
they could have been kids then...
In Denver, homes built by Habitat had their HOA fees go up by hundreds of dollars, and the residents could no longer afford to stay there.

Yeh, see my message above. You have to stay in the home for 5 years in order to outright own it.
Well, it's a start bless there heart 😢
Its a start 🙏🏾

They have people flipping homes like that on at least 10 shows on T.V....if they can do it, the city and state can do it too

At least there is some positive news coming from SF.

First of all, he is not locking any doors in his parents' house. Door is left open.
Whatever their family decided, not you.
My understanding is that the owners have to stay in the home for 5 years. And if the house goes into default, it reverts back to Habitat.
not gonna lie those are sweet

The powerful labor union of San Francisco is not happy about this.
Good stuff

You can pick your nose, but not your neighbors.
Give it two years.....
Just wondering how much the government stole from that project and who chose the families that got one of those units?????
You could probably Google habitat for humanity and find out who qualifies for the program, it's a non profit organization
Tell the family's to stop having kids 🤦
