Why do I have to Laugth that hard imagining this Party in front of this super serious Captain sourrounded by his 6 super buff soldiers sending them out to... basically do his Job? Makes me wonder, what is the most funny party you cold build to make this moment of "You have been drafted by the Flaming Fist and now are THE LAW" most surreal XD
In the Elfsong Tavern with Tarina, I made her a lvl 3 Rogue to even her out with Dead-Eye's stat block. I should note that I had a group of two in there, a Ranger and a Monk. This allowed the group to focus on taking out the other bandits and Tarina to survive long enough for them to come back her up. She was low on health, but she was able to survive the multi-attack from Dead-Eye.
When I ran this adventure, as soon as the module was out, we had 6 players and all of them almost died to the Bandit Captain. They only won because the rogue scored a Nat 20 to convince Tarina to come downstairs and the Captain immediately killed her. Afterwards, he paid a round of ale for the party.
Well ... no one said "Go down there RIGHT NOW!" ... It's still super difficult don't get me wrong but a long rest and getting spells back after the pirate fight would have done wonders. In our campaign and a podcast I watched we did all this "basement delving" over multiple days.
This post is for those who speak Greek and want to find party members in these days. We made a discord server ( discord.gg/xbsVPSuw8X ), that will help you find party member or run a campaign during quarantine! There are some cool stuff you can find also such as: Memes, battlemaps, New rpg tabletops games (not the popular ones), ideas for npcs, tips and tricks to be better at these games and of course meet and talk to new people!
As far as that goes, the general thing is that some of the encounters are unbalanced. If you think an encounter is too hard, don't do it. If you don't say it's there, the players don't know :)
@@spencernoble6824 that's what I thought, i got a short level 1 quest involving the cult and depending on their dark secret the guild. Then scaling down elf song and the bathhouse. Got that dm's guild pdf Jacob talked about in is vid and that really helped balance some stuff
I think his advice on his main channel was to just cut the baldur's gate content and jump straight into the avernus stuff, starting with level 5 (or whatever) characters who are present in elturel when it falls into hell
One of the things that really drives me towards Paizo's pathfinder is that they just have better written adventure books. There are some real gems in 5e but so many meh ones too.
@@BlackTearDrop incredibly difficult? Let me guess you watched Puffin's video or Taking 20? PF2 math is super easy, unless you make it difficult for yourself. The only part that can get confusing tracking is the dying/wounded conditions and how they convert back and forth. Now Pathfinder 1, sure that's because it's built on the back of D&D 3.5 which had lots of bonuses due to decades of development. And 3 action is so much easier then trying to remember what classes can do what on a bonus action, can they dash or not or maybe take a second attack. 3 action everyone can do exactly the same things with actions and it makes standing there trading blows counterproductive.
Why track separate initiative for every enemy creature, but roll the saving throws just once? 38:55 (never mind 1:00:55) I doubt that was the reason the encounter was as impossible as you described in the in video, but it still made 6 creatures take half damage when 5 of them could have taken full damage. Also the initiative for every creature separately bothers me a lot in your other games, so please reconsider. It just makes the initiative unnecessary complex and makes encounters slower.
I seem to be getting an awful lot of ads, like 1 every minute sort of frequency, and it is really getting on my nerves. I know it probably isn't the fault of those uploading but it is annoying hearing "do you want a youtube experience free of ads?" every other minute.
To me personally, I just wanna stop getting Genshin Impact ads or whatever. They're long as shit and I'm so sick of them and keep getting them despite saying I dun wanna see them anymore. I have enough friends telling me to play as it is. RUclips ads blow chuncks but I like supporting the stream..
What I do is turn autoplay off and then go to the end of the video, and I mean last second. Then if you hit the replay button all the ads die and I can watch happy. It works about 95% of the time for me
Yeah unfortunately youtube frontloads all the ads on the videos, and it takes a bit of messing around to get ads to not be so frontloaded in post. Some of the videos we've managed to get set properly, but others are still like this -Colton
back in the day, this was advertised as the prequel to the Baldur's Gate 3 game by Larian... that might have something to do with the forced storyline?
@Peters6221 To be alittle fair Zodge goes out of his way to tell you that the informant can be brought to him dead and Deadeye makes it clear he is only there to kill her so the module expects you to fight and if you are overwhelmed and Tarina dies then you let him amd his pirates leave and drag her body to Zodge. Its dumb storytelling sure 100% but the module doesn't expect a lvl1 party to have to kill 7 bandits and 1 bandit capt.
I watched another group playing with 5 players get TPKed in the next room. It's just simply poorly designed in general, regardless of number of players.
That's not how this works. I've played D&D with 2/3 PCs often, without TPKs. Maybe the number of enemies here shoulda been reduced, but they were too strong to begin with.
@@RoNPlayer Your right. You shouldn't punish the players for not having more people, making it 'so stupid' they did the quest, otheriwse a lot of people never would have played. Not Another Dnd Podcast and Dnd is for Nerds don't have more than 3 people
Jacob wanted to run this "as intended" which means what the book says to run to show how terribly it is designed. Hence the TPK at the end....its poorly designed. Enemies are way too difficult at such a low level. You could probably run 8 players and at level 1 they'd still TPK
I just noticed Spencer decorated the door behind her with tarot cards. That's pretty cool.
def looking more and more like a witch...next year she'll have a broom
i LOVE that

"an astrologer?, he's a witch!"
The time I played this, our party TPK'd to the animated armor in the house... I wonder how many parties DON'T tpk lol.
Also, the game was designed for a party of 4-6. Doing it with 3 is a challenge as it is.
Agreed
Maybe having a 5-6 man team yeah you had a shot. But there's so much to take down and fight thru
Having three members instead of four or six could've helped. Very gauntlet style dungeon.
Definitely you guys should have taken a rest. In fact, I might have taken a short one after that Tavern battle.
I love this book
Really? Why? I think it's one of the worst from Wizards.

great videos, keep up the amazing work
Tiny party hype!
Is the city is full of crime or is the flaming fist evil?

I strongly recomend that you use Foundry VTT! It will improve a lot your sessions.
I played using Foundry VTT and it was a nightmare for the DM and the players. I found it a confusing mess of data.
Jake Anslow That actually sounds impossible. It’s incredibly easy to use.
46:50 these are the most pbskids Villain moment ever
This was fun all things considered. But I think I'm biased towards parties with Kobolds haha. I'd definitely watch more of these three.
Can I just say, Bane, Ball and MERKEL??!?! MERKEL?!??!
