Ultimately the best way to get a legendary pet is to convert 3 aberrant familiars to gain at least one legendary trait using conversion stones then use a yellow familiar with at least 1 attribute above 170 and exchange that 170 onto that aberrant familiar with that legendary trait to guarantee a legendary pet. I've just done this today for the first time.
I hate Blizzard for making this way more complicated than it needs to be. So much so i wouldnt recommend game anymore. Since you are part of the partner program, can you just make a video about how ridiculously annoying and conplex this system is and maybe some of your thoughts on why it has to be this way. Maybe it'll get Blizzard's attention to make inprovements.
Thanks for the information! Someone else also asked about retaining leg passive skill (savior) while converting and I'm wondering the same. Will that specific leg passive be retained when converting provided i use conversion stones? Also assuming i won't use a pet in conversion with more yellows than the main with savior of which i want to upgrade.

In the last 3 days I’ve won bids at either had the platinum taken but immediately given back and lost the familiars. it can be blue or yellow to have 170+ attributes. you can search on the market under all familiars/ 'select' at the bottom/ attributes/ then search the 4 options one at a time with 170+. Most are legendary expensive but now and then you can get one for 4 to 16k on timers counting down to when they'll sell.. you have to click fast, many others are too. if you get one, then you just exchange those attributes onto an aberrant with at least one lego skill, same type of pet only, at the pet lady, Nisza next to the table where you draw them, and it comes out a full size legendary pet. But ideally the aberrant should have good skills before you do that because exchanging doesn't change the skills, only the attributes (170+). you're stuck with the skills on the aberrant. the pet you just took the 170 attributes off is now a reg pet with all the skills it had, they don't transfer, only the attributes do. you can get more skills on your new lego pet but it's risky, you can loose it, and it takes a lot of stones.
Just a heads up, rarity of the familiar is only preserved using conversion stones. The rarity re-rolls every time on all conversions that do not use conversion stones. At least this is the language in the familiar information. So rolling a rare ordinary skill with 2 other familiars will not guarantee a rare familiar because ordinary familiars cannot be rolled with conversion stones.
if i want to lets say my bond familiar have utility traits but low attributes and want to upgrade them to get more traits. what would u suggest to do to upgrade but not lose the utility traits?

I got a blue/magic Aberrant pet, with the legendary Saviour passive skill, and also a legendary trait (plus two other traits). None of the traits are active as the pet is just blue/magic and doesn't have enough attributes to activate them. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can turn my Aberrant blue pet into a yellow pet without losing the Saviour passive skill. Or if I need to keep my little kitten as a blue main companion and have all bonded/secondary pets as yellow with active traits.

i was wrong, it has to be a yellow pet to have the 170+ attributes. It can't be a blue one.
We only get 3 contracts per week right? Unless you get some as drop (I never did)?

Correct, I've done it. I converted 3 rare pets and ended up with a normal blue with no skills. It's a random pet with random skills, if any.

your main pet only the passive skills matter and your bonded pets only the traits matter. they have to be yellow to make the traits active.
