Great series! I never knew that this service lasted just past A Day. Also, a channel named Big Mood Energy made three videos about passenger services post Amtrak in a series called "the Last Train in America". These videos covered the Southern with the Crescent, the Georgia Railroad's mixed trains, and the Rio Grande's Rio Grande Zephyr. I feel they may come in handy since they're in a similar nature as this series.

The trains you mentioned here are actually being covered soon on my channel as one big video! I'll check out that channel! 👀

4:30. Paul Weyrich exposed that slide on his last day charter of “trackless trolley” 388 in Milwaukee on June 20th, 1965. His slides from that trip are presently in my collection and will be donated to the Illinois Railway Museum’s library.

I remember a derailment in 1971. A cement mixer hit the North Avenue bridge in Elm Grove. As I recall, nobody bothered to notify the railroad of this incident. The bridge had been knocked out of alignment and the Cannonball, being the next train to cross, derailed as a result.

Interesting Video! I never knew Milwaukee Road had a passenger called the Cannonball. It's really the Wabash when I think about it lol

Olympian Hiawatha was discontinued as a thru train between Chicago and Seattle-Tacoma in 1961, not 1951.
