We have this law in NY State since the day marijuana was legalized. It's awesome the law has helped many recreational marijuana users get jobs without the fear of rejected. The only thing is in NY State the law states you can't smoke marijuana while on the job only afterwards.
I hope that's how California will be. Life isn't easy and there isn't much harm done smoking after work. The fridge might take some damage because of the munchies lol. Hopefully Cali takes note
@@xlBomlxyea many employers already don't care or take drug testing serious here, I've applied to so many jobs forklift jobs and have done oral swab test, urine, in clinics and just some cheap drug tests, if its only weed like in my case I always get the job because I guess the employers understand.
Legalize cannabis federally within each and every state. This way, irrational prohibitionist politicians can't obstruct and prevent legalization against the will of the vast majority of Americans whom support full federal cannabis legalization nationwide. Treat cannabis exactly like we treat far more dangerous and deadly yet perfectly legal alcohol. Legal in all states.
Im from San Diego and got the fuck outta state because of how fucked up the state government is. Cali's movement with weed is the only good thing the state has going for itself. Im embarrassed to tell people im from there otherwise.
When I drove ride share in San Diego, I dropped a guy off in Spring Valley at a dispensary. He said things were quiet overnight until early morning when the construction workers came in to get their supplies.
How do you mean? I know that the law doesn't go into effect until 2024. But do you know if they will still require a drug screen for other drugs, but still be able to tell if you are positive for THC? I am worried about them using drug testing for other drugs as an excuse to give people a drug test, but still discriminate against people who are positive for cannabis.
@@D1amondeyes I was hoping that isn't the case. But I don't trust them at all. I'm sick of having to deal with this crap, I'm currently 37 and have had to stay clean lots of different times in my life due to looking for a job. This gets really freaking old. Sometimes I don't smoke for long periods of time up to 2 years simply because I get bored of it and need a break, but I don't like having to be FORCED to quit because of some employer's "requirements". And it's pretty much a violation of our 4th amendment rights, being under the category of "unreasonable searches and seizures".
Yes we still have to wait another YEAR and 3 months. I'm so tired of having to stay clean when looking for a new job, I've had to do it many times over the last 20 years.
@@theelizardqueen Yeah I hear ya things are hard, especially right now. I have a good paying job but the commute is killing me, need to find something closer to home. Been staying clean because I see alot of jobs that still drug test for weed. So stupid that they ever tested for drugs in the first place, total violation of the 4th amendment!
@@jacobkorban476 I feel ya man...over the last nearly 20 years I've stayed clean many different times for jobs that I wound up not getting. Long extended periods of time staying clean only to not even get a job at all. (particularly around 2007-2010) I'm so tired of this nonsense, it's legal in CA but we still have to deal with this crap in 2022. I do routinely quit for my own personal reasons for periods of half a year or more, for tolerance breaks and I just get tired of it after a while. But I don't like having to stay clean due to being forced into it for reasons other than my own personal decision.
