My band are learning this at the moment. Having learnt it from the record I wanted to take a walk through the way someone else plays it and pick up some tips. It's been really useful, especially the harmony on the end of the solo. I wouldn't have thought to do that. Oh and the little lick you show at the end there - that's the sort of daft little detail that I'm not good enough to pick up on. Thanks. If I get a live recording of us playing it I might come back so you can see how well it works out.

try bending the g into the a on the first note instead of sliding it in the beginning of the song,,,it might not be the written way but it sounds a lot better and more to the recording
Great lesson but when you plays the E Octave he does another slid up to the 7th fret on the A string to create the E octave and it gives a kind of rip sound!

Carl, here is a question for you. When you are doing a lesson, I see you looking down at something to remember what part of the song comes next. What are you looking at? Tabs, or do you have your own system for remembering what comes next in the song?
Yeah just a sheet that usually says verse, chorus , solo rhythm, harmony 1 and stuff like that so that I don’t skip anything. No TAB since I couldn’t read that from so far away anyway.

great lesson Carl. however you missed out the one tiny bit I wanted to see you play . at the end of the solo immediately after the 2 repeated "pre-bent start" bits. there is a repeated bend/choke, bendy bit... :(

NewbKiller 1966 open E twice then 4th fret twice, 5th fret twice, 7th fret then a Emaj7 chord twice, basically the whole tune, then do the same on the A string. At the end of that hit an A chord instead of an Emaj7.
