I almost cried watching this. It was like you were answering my questions as I was asking them! Thank you for making it so simple for beginners like me. I have been downloading other people's templates, getting so frustrated because they did not do the basics the way I wanted them to. Now I have the ability to create a budget the way I want to. Thank you so much!
I started using Notion when all the productivity vlogs started talking about it and stopped using it because whatever I thought was possible to do in it, I was doing in dedicated apps in a better and much more streamlined way. Seeing your channel and listening to you explain how to do all this has made me go back and now, there is a page for everything that I used to do in a dedicated app thanks to you and your fabulous tutorials.
The secret is out. Some of the bigger productivity channel content creators are talking about you. Personally, I’m thrilled you’re well on your way to having a great career with this. I stumbled across your site about 2 weeks ago, look forward to more Notion tips, tricks and advanced applications. In the meantime, studying your techniques with Notion and binge watching you past work. All the best , Aloha from Maui.
@@RedGregory where can I send some ideas to you for content creation? Not presuming you’d do it. It’s very obvious your an expert in this and I’d also consider a class if you do one.
@@RedGregorymam thank you 😊 for ur efforts. I have one doubt in this above video. I wish to add year to my budget and how am I supposed to do it. It’s little bit tricky. I added in income and expenses cut when I come to total budget table year is a big issue to me. Kindly make a video of possible for that - guide me…
This is really similar to what I created! I would also suggest creating a "Categories" DB so that you know how much your spending by category. Also, a property defining what year "Income" and "Expense" apply to would lessen any confusion once December rolls around. Love your content Sarah!
I would love to know how to do that! How do you make a linked database that shows the total per category for each month seperatly? This is my first experience on Notion and I want to get used to it. :3
Add a new column by clicking + icon on the right side of the In Budget column (3. Expenses) then name it Categories and type categories like Gadget, Tech, Transportation, Subscription, etc. You can then change the property type from Text to Select. If you want to add Year column, click + icon on the upper right side of each table (2. Income and 3. Expenses) then name it Year and type the year then change the property to type from Text to Select. Hope this helps!
@@mosesfebrian Wow thank you so much! This was very helpful because my only concern was "how do I use this for multiple years and organize those years" since I'm in highschool and want to organize how I spend each year throughout my schooling.
Building along with you helps me to udnerstand what I am doing and why I am doing it, but it is a real comfort to know the template is available if I totally mess it up. Thanks!
This is great! I've also added new pages to the Balance Calculator for certain months and followed through as what you did and it works to see the budget for every month. Thank you so much!
I know your comment is half a year old, but any chance you could tell me how you linked the monthly expenses to the monthly balance? 🙈 I have created views in the balance and set a filter per month. as I set this up in April, my current one that I set up using this video is the month April. now I tried to enter something into the income and expense for month may but nothing changes in the may balance :(
Hey Sarah, I can't say how thankful I am that you are sharing your template for free and making a comprehensive video on it too! Loving your blog and content so much!
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!! quick question about the balance calculator. When i start budgeting for the next month the calculator is still including the previous months balances. How do i get the balance calculator to calculate income / expenses and total balance for each month - rather than a yearly calculator. Thank you so much for all the help with notion, seriously impacted my productivity for the better!
Thanks for the video, all good with a very detailed explanation @Red Gregory. Similar concern here, how do i get the balance calculator to calculate income / expenses and total balance for each month - rather than a yearly calculator. Looking forward!
I just spent days trying to figure all this out before finding this video. Great job. One adjustment I made (vs yours) was to create a “Paycheck” database vs just income to account for our taxes, benefits, pre/post tax, etc. and then created views and rollups on that data. We also get paid every 2 weeks vs monthly which we need to account for.
you're very good at introducing processes without it being overwhelming or over inflating the worth. very easy to learn and apply to other processes. love your site too. thanks.
you´re amazing!!! the way you organize and use notion helps so many of us who also want to get organized and your templates are the best!! thanks a lot for making these types of videos and for providing the template for us!
To be honest, at first I didn't watch the video but I liked the way it looked and after a few easy adjusts I was able to get the template I was looking for so long, thanks a lot for all the work. In the end, I came again to finally watch the video and it was very helpful. Thanks a lot for the great work
OMG! I've been searching for a good template for money expenses for over an hour, and I jumped into your Chanel; you have a lot of resources! I'm digging into it! It's fantastic, thank you so much! You definitely gain a new subscriber.
shits. i spent 2 hrs making this template by watching this video side by side and at last. she said, i am linking this template to the description. omgggg man
I love the tutorial and how simple this is, but is there a way for the "Balance Calculator" to show total balance, expenses and income for a specific month? I noticed that it's adding everything you entered under income database. Thank you so much!
I believe you would have to create diferent Relations to each month. On the "Total Balance Data Base" create a Line for each monthly balance: "Jan Balance", "Feb Balance"... Then on the Expenses and Income Data Bases, go on the Relation Columm "ToCalculate" and Add a Link to the respective mounth. Make sure you adjust the filter for each tab só the "To calculate" Collum has both "Total Balance" and the "Month Balance" In the end you can have filter to show the Yearly Balance (Total Balance) or the Monthly Balance
This is so helpful in many ways! I am already doing my own Cash Flow page on my Notion and the way you present the formulas are remarkably sensible. Thank you so much for the great help, you saved me a lot of time browsing the internet for sensible answers, yet here I found you. Again, Thank you, might link you to my blog and recommend you to my friends. Have a good one!
Thank you so much for this! Finally I have a financial tracker that works! Now I'm trying to make a view that shows my expenses by category for every month, so I can visualize how much I'm spending on each thing. Any tips are welcome.
hey, if you ever figure it out, can you make a video on it? I am lost on how to make the Balance calculator work for every month as opposed sum of all months!
To make this whole system even smaller you can put expenses and incomes together and to make the balance work properly you could put the expenses values in negative and the incomes positive. This way when you make a rollup on the Balance database if you just select sum, it'll work just like this both databases in one
Yes! You can do this as well for a minimal approach. Maybe even create a formula that takes “expenses” tag and converts number to negative then roll up that formula.:)
