Imagine being an adventurer, and you and your party are exploring your first cave and gaining experience, and then all of sudden you are all wiped out by some carless and lazy archer firing off ricochet arrows aimlessly into the cave you’re in. 😭
If I remember right from the first game, magick archer attacks count as casting a spell so you can use augments and rings to quicken casting speed to get your shots off faster
In my testing and what I've seen on Reddit, cast speed does not apply to MA in 2 unfortunately. Weirdly, silence does seem to apply, though, and afaik neither silence nor cast speed affect Mystic Spearhand.
Something that I found really helpful about Blazefang Arrow is that if you press the sheath button at any point after firing, it'll take you out of guiding the arrow and it will continue straight from where it was going. Really useful for repositioning in a fight, or readying another attack without having to wait until the arrow explodes to regain control of your character.
That is pretty cool if you want to position it in a certain way. Cause you can fire it off straight from wherever you are without guiding it but that is pretty cool if you want to put it up in the air and then aim it down and then get out!
Nice guide with actual demo play. If you guys think MA is OP/easy mode, thief will blow your mind. Played through the game twice and it’s a blast. Only downfall is mega bosses(end game) CAN get annoying but not always. Comparing my fights with the headless horseman to yours, I just pop formless feint(has augment for lower stam useage), hack away with zero concern for damage, a few helm splitters…done. Literally seconds. Give it a try guys! BTW, I never play rogue/stealth builds I’m usually front line tank, but thief is great!
I just got the magic archer. About 75 hrs in the game now. I think this is gonna be a long playthrough for me as I wanna go through all the caves and upgrade all vocations before I hit new game+ Appreciate the video great info and I love this vocation.
Ricochet Hunter, cheeseing Bitterblack Isle since 2014 baby! Glad to see it's still just as busted. Btw, you can throw Pawns off of cliff-faces, use Recovery Arrow to revive them, then drop down on them to have them catch you and avoid fatal fall damage. Great for getting places!
Uuuuuuuhh, archer is amazing. I, as a meele player, thought it would be "boring" but BOY WAS I WRONG. I kill drakes faster than with fighter or warrior. Can't wait to upgrade the Magick archer.
Archer was really fun. I honestly kind of miss it as OP as magick archer is. Genuinely thinking of turning my main pawn into an archer instead of a fighter at this point just to have an archer on my team at all times. Plus, I think the archer armors look really cool. I was quite sad about the magick archer armors in comparison. They just don't look as good.

I do something similar on NG+ Wayfarer with mage staff and trickster weapon running 1) Aromatic resurgence 2) High Celerity 3) High Paladium and (obviously) rearmament so I can buff my thief pawn and watch her kill everything by herself lol. People sleep on Frosthunter, but it’s a “Matyr Bolt over time” attack. The frost arrows chase down enemies and hit them repeatedly for about 20 seconds or so, you just have to lock on all five arrows. For example, if you use it three times, you have 15 arrows hitting an enemy- BUT the arrows will hit about 5-8 times each with magick AND elemental damage. Plus it slows enemies down so pawns can attack it. When I fight a drake, the first two health bars melt at a moderate pace. However, those last health bars melt FAST! The reason being is that the number of arrows cause the elemental damage numbers to multiply to huge amounts. So don’t sleep on it, I was killing drakes by myself at level 20 because I went for this vocation first.
@@FightinCowboy when I run Warfarer, I start with two Frosthunter Bolts and run in there with melee while the bolts keep circling around to hit it. Since I’ve used up two skills slots already, the added challenge is fun because I’m switching from Thief to Mystic Spearhand. It’s like having an extra pawn hitting while I’m in melee mode. Since the bolts are generally the last hit, I don’t have to worry about pawns stealing my XP credit. 😏
The Frosthunter bolt is indeed extremely powerful. With the freezing bow from elven arbor, you can pretty much permafreeze almost the entire game with it.
Seeing that support role makes me think about how good this game would be with dungeons, and i mean legit dungeons with bosses you would see in most MMO's, not the caves and stuff that we currently have. Imagine playing a support MA with a group of friends in a place like that, it would be great. But if they did that then theres certain a abilities that would have to be nerfed. Things like ricochet hunter and that ability that sacrifices health would take all the fun away, along with some of the other vocation abilities.
The sleep bolt specifically makes warfarer super fun. Earlier tonight i put a griffin to sleep with one arrow, and then just indomitable lashed it in the head twice for a ridiculously easy kill. The sleep bolt is no pun intended slept on because it just lets you do whatever you want to big enemies.
after i unlocked MA i thought i unlocked easy mode of the game. very funny but makes the game very easy. and i dont use that oneshot Martyr's Bolt. my favorite spell is sagittate avalanche. it kills everything. it melts dragons.
Definitely. I was scared of drakes until I finally got sagittate avalache. Now, drakes fear me 😂 I only discovered how op I had become after a drake landed in the middle of the capital last night and I had no choice but to take it on. I was really nervous until I discovered I was actually doing A LOT of damage FAST. Sadly, it flew away when it had one health bar left. Now, I have the urge to go hunt all the drakes I've avoided thus far
Try Lifetaking Arrow again, use it as a damage ability this time. It deals those ticks of damage every second of its flight, if it locks onto a pawn or npc it ends as soon as it reaches the target. Otherwise just keeps flying in a straight line going THROUGH terrain and dealing holy damage and massive stagger (for something this fast) to everything in its AoE. Shooting 2 of those at a golem results in an immediate stagger. Also, about that terrain peirce... Why bother coming to the enterance of the cave to clear it? Just shoot some Lifetaking Arrows in the direction of a cave, that'll do the trick!
Confidant’s Hood has knockdown Res of 150, compared to Ancient Galea of 132. Difference between other resistances is negligible, plus it goes with rest of outfit better.
You may know this, but if you take you're all heal elixir to the counterfeit gyu at the checkpoint rest town he'll copy them. These are real and work I've tested them it will cost I don't remember how much it cost of hand it at least 10000. IDK if you can make these yourself or not not that far in the game I've just been exploring and just smuggled myself across the border. I hope this helps take care everyone.
Sparklechain works better if you swap to Rivet Shot, can only target 1 "point" per stake, so the larget Reticle and the "seek multiple points" tendency works well. also seems better with FrostHunter for freezing targets, hitting more different body parts (may just be my mind playing tricks on me)
@@FightinCowboy I was saying that for FrostHunter Bolt, Rivet Shot prioritizes multiple target points over the single target that Pinpoint Volley goes for. Sorry if I wasn't clear that I was making a point about Rivet vs Pinpoint
Frosthunter bolt is a must have, you would kill this enemys much faster with that ability plus it gets them frozen. Blazefang arrow is totally unnecesary

@ainzoalgownz1570 having to rest after every single fight sounds tedious AF. If you wanna play like that, all the power to ya. In post-game you're going to have stretches of multiple big boys before you see a campfire. If you're relying on Martyr, you'll be boned. You'll also be burning your limited time in post-game. Flare + rivet shots kills just as fast without killing yourself in the process. Or frankly just a few Frosthunter Bolts and Avalanches to the heart is enough for drakes specifically.
