@sorta_stock It definitely will. I put crossover steering from Off Road Design on my 89 with swapped in Dana 60 axles. I did a little video on it. ruclips.net/video/7wR1Bjc-Cm8/видео.html
440 or supercharge the 360 for extra umph Red with a white top and lake pipes. And absolutely put the spare on the back where it should've been. I dig it! Can't wait to see it done.
Cool truck & looking forward to see what you do with it. We bought a ‘75 Trailduster with a 440 sight unseen in So Cal, had it lifted, bigger wheels & tyres and had the previous owner pick us up at the rental car depot after flying from New Zealand and driving from LAX. We drove across to Albuquerque, up to Denver, across to Kansas then on up to Detroit before entering the Mopar Nats in Columbus Ohio with the only pop top Trailduster there then we stayed with friends in Cleveland and Pittsburg before driving down to Baltimore where we put it on a ship to come home to NZ, trip of a lifetime. 👍😎
That sounds like an absolute blast. I sold my Trailduster in 2021 after finishing it and regretted it immediately. Not repeating that mistake. How did the 440 handle the road trip? Relatively decent (double digit) mpg?
@@sorta_stock mpg was crap but back in 2018 the gas was only $3 gallon while ours is almost that for a litre here in NZ but I guess our $ is crap compared to the U.S.$. The old motor home 440 pulled great up the grapevine hill and the Baker incline at 120F, we had lots of problems with melted spark plug wires as the Hooker headers cross too close to the plugs, the Supercomp bid tube headers I have on my Road Runner have much better clearance. When picked the truck up it had 90 degree Accel ceramic ends but they didn’t last any longer than the others. I’ll make a jig to dimple the headers neatly and pick the best angle boots for clearance. The other problem wast the brand new Edelbrock 1406 carb was not jetted within a mile of close & with a very bust itinerary it took most of the trip before I managed to get some needles and jets to sort it out. We had a hell of a lot of fun and met some wonderful people that possibly wouldn’t have happened without that old truck & a PR guy from Summit even did a write up about us on their page.
Very cool build! But then again , I'm a little bias to 77-78 Ramchargers . Since I have a Cummins Swapped RC, I would say to only go that route if you plan a lot of Off roading. A daily driver / Weekend offroader, would be a lot more fun with a rowdy Small Block. Cummins may be cool, but they are expensive, heavy, and slow.
I had a stock-ish 360 in a ‘78 Trailduster that I daily drove from 2019-2021. I had a blast with it but, always wished it was faster. The smog 360 had barely anything to offer and would struggle up hill. I do have a warmed over 318 magnum that I could drop in
For a daily driver I think you should go modern Hemi. Motor, tranny and transfer casse. The whole nine yards. And take it back to stock hight. I have a 77 W200 in the same kinda color. Do you know what it is? As far as I can tell it's called Russet Sunfire. Looking forward to your build!
If the budget allows a Cummins if its cheap and functional 5.9 magnum and a Chineseim intake would drop in no problem a late hemi would be fairly easy as well so quite a few options.
360 sounds good! Just through a 4 barrel with new manifold on it. I have a 360 Custom Ramcharger myself that I bought new in 1977. Love um!!
Nice! I have a 79!
Looks like a great project! You will love the cross over steering!
All the 70’s dodge pickups I’ve owned have always had subpar steering. Hoping this crossover conversion tightens it up.

That's sweet 👍 Definitely needs a 12 valve swap...
That would be awesome

Cool project, I have an 84 myself that I am working on.
I am with u. As a daily driver
Awesome rig! A simple 408 stroker would be good. Lots of torque.
Cool truck & looking forward to see what you do with it.

I cant wait to see how u fix drip rails?,
4 BT CUMMINS!!!
Just gotta find an old bread truck chillin in a field to get one at a good price lol. That would offer everything I’m after though.

Get some body work done to the Ramcharger
Already swapped out those cut up and rusty fenders. The top will be next. Not sure which color combo I’m gravitating to
