My friends and I went here about 2 years ago, very nice hotel, and nice room too...the beds at first felt hard, but ended up being VERY comfy and my friends and I were very pleased. pool area was nice and fun too, loved the lazy river!
Great Review as always. Diamond level on Royal Caribbean has Gold reward privileges at M rewards unless the rewards changed since the ownership restructuring. Another tip: House Seats offers free tickets to shows as a member. They are currently running a deal if you are interested. We bought the membership after we moved to Vegas and actually saw up to 50 free shows over the 3 years as members. Some shows are not worth the trouble while others were fantastic. The seats are also placed well in the theater. First row at several shows. Fifth row at Michael McDonald Concert. Cirque Shows included. As far as I know, you do not need to be a local to join. We actually still have a membership and moved across the country. Just a suggestion if you have the time when in town.
Spot on review of MGM. Could not have said it better. I don't remember a time that it wasn't crowded. I know eventually we will be back because we didn't scratch the surface. Thanks you two.
The Avis Car Rental at Bellagio is great too. The Avis cars have their own parking spaces in the garage next to the valet area, so parking is always free and close by.
We loved our last stay at MGM. Our room was in the StayWell wing of the hotel. Yes, lots of walking, but we do that on the strip anyway. With an MGM Rewards card, you can check in at the Gold Lounge. Going back in July. 🎰😊
Love the MGM. We have been to Vegas more than a dozen times. Mostly business. We like to extend our stays. We usually jump back to the MGM Grand for our personal time. Went the week before F1. Had to be out of the other resort by 11a.m went to the MGM desk about 10a.m. They were really awesome. Took my name said self check in was about noon. But if they had something they would text. They weren’t kidding 30 minutes later I was in my room. No extra charge. This has maybe second best pool in Vegas… They need to keep the party river and add a sports screen section.. Rooms are still clean and nice. Buffet was good.
I have not stayed at MGM Grand since 2008, and I remember the buffet back then not being overly great. My dad loved it, he would keep getting the buffet comped. One time was way more then enough. My father would have probably gone back a 3rd time, but after the 2nd I had to put an end to it. They had steak that was nothing to write home about. The best place was Wolfgang Pucks with their amazing calzones.
Great review guys! I first stayed at MGM Grand when I was 20 back in '97. Fond memories of those days. I might be staying there again soon because I have a pretty good discounted weekend rate there. It's actually cheaper than Luxor and Excalibur! Thanks for all the details.
Wow that is surprising that it is cheaper than Luxor and Excalibur, you definitely have plenty of options at MGM. If only they made some shortcuts to the strip from the Hotel elevator Bank - thanks Matt
Pool Complex opened March 3, 2023. Most Vegas pools open in March, even if it's cold. I haven't stayed at MGM Grand since Shaq had a comedy after party at _Studio 54_ , so I need to make a return visit!
We had heard that part of MGM stays open year around (heated) but not the full complex - we were able to see people but it seemed closed for a private function
I haven’t stayed at MGM Grand in several years, but am staying there April 2-6. It’s time to go back. Regarding the walking, I’m game as I’m recovering from open heart surgery! I’m also happy to get limo, as I’m solo and turning 77 on April 1st! Also, I’m treating myself to Joel Robuchon degustation menu! Luckily I am going with a girl I previously met in Vegas! O I wast just watching your recent video of visiting all the bars on the Icon - hilarious!!!
I enjoy mgm grand… even with the huge size. The Uber and monorail is not to bad of a walk. When I stayed there, I utilize the monorail a lot. I want to stay at their new renovated studio rooms that used to be the west wing. Great review. And don’t forget the ledge of deep thoughts in your room lol.
I agree that MGM Grand is so far from the Strip. I had a junior suite which I really enjoyed staying in. The monorail does give you the access you need to Center Strip. My main complaint is that it’s just so far from the action and walking everywhere gets annoying.
I stayed at MGM in November. It is huge. Food options are many and good. I'm not one to really go and get a really good breakfast, so far that I did do the buffet. Its ok, nothing special but definitely worked for me, since I really just want to get some coffee and some decent food in me. And it opens before some other places and I don't sleep in very late. MGM is definitely going to be my choice again when I go back later this year
MGM Grand holds a special place for me because it's the very first hotel I stayed on my first Vegas trip. Now that I have been so many times to other Vegas properties, really agree on the review... but for me, this place is/was the epitome of Vegas... BIG, Flashy, big pool area, great restaurants - just screams Las Vegas. I went first during the 'family' years... where the The Signature towers were an amusement park. Man, what a trip to think of that now. Man, even the slot change ladies wheeling their carts in that casino. But at this point, not sure I would go back. Just have done it so much. Car rental - we used to do it all the time... .when parking, and even Valet was free (besides tip). It was great to go from hotel to hotel just to check it out, and not pay for parking and if we didn't want to stay, didn't feel obligated because we paid for parking. Now, not worth it to us unless you want to to a more off strip things.
Forgot to mention the Lion Exhibit they used to have, where you could walk under the lions habitat. Many people were upset thinking that the lion's lived there. But it wasn't until they closed it that I found out the lions were brought in from a lion sanctuary outside the city. They took in lions that people thought they could have as pets, from zoos, wherever. So the sanctuary would bring a few lions in for an hour or two, rotate the lions, let people see them... but they weren't living at MGM. And when they closed the exhibit it actually hurt the sanctuary because that was their main revenue source. As far as I know they still exist, found new funding and I think people can go visit there now. Sorry so long winded... but wanted to share some of that Vegas history, if people were unaware.
So cool when you have fond memories of a place. Totally agree that a car is only worth it for off strip stuff now. We have been trying to get better at getting off the strip so it was fun to try out
Park MGM also has a dedicated check in line for Gold and above. I always thought MGM was huge until I learned all the shortcuts, and now can get around and outside pretty quickly. Took me 20 years though......
@@JoshRachael There used to be, but I honestly am not sure its still there. I am going in May and will check it out. Used to be you could go down the hallway to the West Wing and follow it to a back entrance that would but you out on the strip between MGM and the area where all the stores are. There used to be a cool bar called the West Wing Bar, but I think that is long gone. I'll let you know what I find out!
I would be hesitant to go off on my own on that gigantic casino floor and get separated from my family. I wouldn’t even be able to describe where I was to them! I thought the suite was lovely!
Who new there was so much to do at MGM. My only stay there was in the westwing. So the trip wasn't off to a good start. On top of that they refused to give me a medical fridge. Might have to give it another shot.
I just stayed at MGM Grand for 4 nights at the end of March. First time there. Loved it. A few takeaways from my trip, if I may... (TL:DR MGM Grand has it all, from good to excellent, none of it bad, excellent value at the right price point.) -I stayed in the Studio Tower (the former West Wing Tower). It's a LOT closer to the Strip. There's a side entrance to the elevators right in between Level Up and Bonanno's Pizza. The other entrance is by Crush. From there, it's really not that long of a walk to the pool, or to the lobby. The studio rooms have been renovated recently to a Palm Springs type decor. It's a small room, but nice, and the location/quick access to everything was a game changer. If you're doing Vegas solo, and/or don't need a lot of frills/space, I highly recommend the Studio Tower. -I have the MGM Mastercard, and that also gets you access to the Gold Lounge. The regular line when I was there was at least 300 people. The gold lounge line was 3 people. I had early check in, and I only had to wait 5 minutes to get a room. -The pool is really nice. The side pools were closed, but the Main Pool was open, as well as the popular Lazy River. There are a lot of chairs, so even if it's busy, you should be able to get a chair. There were a lot of kids. I look forward to checking out the Private Reserve area next time I go. -I had the buffet more than once. It was $25 after tax ($27.99 minus $4.50 with my Pearl discount), before a tip. It's good for the price, given your expectations are tempered. There are less food sections than there used to be (the salad bar has been greatly reduced), but there is more seating to make up for the buffets that have closed. And it's always busy. Packed...so it can't be that bad. If you just get a standard breakfast with a pop/juice at a casino cafe, it's $25 (at least), and you get more at the buffet (though it is a smaller buffet), so there's value there. It's not that different than my local casino's buffet, for the same price. It's not as good as the old Feast Buffets in the Station Casinos. It's adequate, if you're on a budget and aren't a big foodie that needs the best that Vegas has to offer. If you can afford the Wynn or Caesars buffet, and like fine cuisine, obviously you should go there. This is not that. You get 2 hours at the MGM Buffet. -I saw live entertainment nightly at multiple venues during my stay, including at Level Up. -MGM Grand is very busy. That Starbucks line at 8am by the front lobby was at least 50 people deep, easy. The lobby is already packed by then. By 11am, it's chaos. Now, the other casinos do get pretty busy too, but it's nothing like MGM Grand. The slot players do not waste any time there, and by 11 there are already more people playing than not. The conventions draw a crowd, and they start early. At night, there are people literally everywhere you turn. MGM Grand really does have everything, and the location of it is very underrated. It's a little bit of all of the MGM casinos in one. Whatever they don't have, there is a CVS and a Target nearby, another food court, and more. You have the two trams within walking distance that will take you to all of the MGM casinos. If you want to go further north, you have the monorail. I often took a cab from say, Bellagio to NYNY for less than $10 (plus a tip) and the taxi stand is right by the escalator right back up to the bridge to MGM Grand. You're also close to T-Mobile Arena, Dolby Live, Allegiant Stadium, and of course, the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Every casino has Dragon Link slots. Might as well save the time hopping around and play right where you're at. Thanks for all the cool videos and the helpful advice! Sorry for the long read! Cheers.
Hi Josh & Rachael Awesome info provided!! Josh, your reasoning about MGM is the same reason why I have not booked a room there yet. I love to visit & play, but its just to big & spread out for me to stay....lol
Had a bad experience with Mgm Grand years ago and haven't been back since. It's definitely too big, but it does offer a lot of things to do, so in that aspect, it's good.
The size of the place is what I like about MGM Grand. The amount of walking keeps me from feeling constantly bloated. I’ve stayed there over 15x. FYI you have to walk through the District to get to the pool and the MGM Signature. The CBS Experience now seems to be the Showtime Experience.
On our last trip, we rented some scooters for the night. To this day, I have no idea how we managed to find the exit to the bridge after having some awesome gummies! I agree, that property is massive!
Loved mgm I just stayed there 3 nights. Yes its massive property but it is laid out well. Lots to see and do. Used the monorail and uber to from airport. No luck on slots unfortunately. Would stay there again
MGM Buffet isn't fantastic by any means for sure. BUT, comparing price for many of the other nicer buffets I think it's a fair price. Like your videos, keep up the great work.
I doubt it. The monorail is never very busy. The walk to the monorail is too long. The 3 stations it can make sense to take the monorail are - the convention center (but the capacity of the monorail is not enough in case of large event, which still not make it a good choice). - Westgate - sahara The last 2 are not the most attractive places to visit!
Did you use the kiosk to check in or did you use a real person? I’m curious about why you got the upgrade when you checked in early. You should have filled the jacuzzi tub just to say you did.😅
haha the hot water took ages so it would have just been a pool haha - We checked in at the Gold Desk with a real person - always try to do that to get any upgrade we can
Happy Wednesday peeps ! I agree MGM Grand is over the top big. Last time I stayed there it was so far to walk to my room I swear I saw a sign that said next exit Key West lol. Seriously though it’s a great property but a tad chaotic for me . Restaurants are excellent such as Emerils as well as the ones you mentioned. The pool area is one of the best . For me I still prefer Bellagio Aria or Mandalay Bay. Speaking of the lounges …at Aria if you stay in a suite there is the VIP lounge and check in . This is separate from the Sky Suites lounge and check in. Excellent video 😎😎😎
Thanks so much Anthony, I can’t believe we forgot to even mention Emerils and Nellies which we have eaten at both, very underrated restaurant selection for sure. Just too big
I (Josh) have seen Ka a couple of times, Rachael has not. 80% of the show is pretty slow, but it has a couple of the coolest Cirque scenes you will find in the last 20 minutes. I would say if you enjoy the other shows check it out, but if you haven't like the more classic Cirque show pass on it.
Hey Josh and Rachel... great video... loved the room... actually, the buffet before Covid was actually pretty good.... It offered many varieties including Indian food, which we loved as well as you guys. We went there a couple of months ago, even they offered it to us free, we would never eat there. Save your time save your video for something else. We know you guys are not even real buffet people. So do not eat there 👍👍👍👍thanks for sharing your videos with us..
@@JoshRachael Not meaning to be harsh, honestly, but it was terrible. People hate on Luxor's buffet but we liked it better than MGM. And the selection is bigger.
First time I stayed at MGM they put me in the very last room if the hallway of the west wing. The strip was on the other side of the wall and it was close to a 20 min. walk from the self park to the room. It put me off the MGM for a few years. Last time I stayed there I got a Stay Well room and was surprised it had it's own check in as soon as you walked in from the self park and the room was a lot closer. Still, I'm with you, the MGM is way too big unless you plan on not leaving the property.
I think my first time staying there was also in that ridiculous hall of the West Wing and the room was so small, took me ten years to go back, it was such a bad first impression
Says alot that you don't/ didn't have to ask for an upgrade being Gold, status upgrades should be inherent on check in. MGM for the most part is pretty good about taking care of status members as well as AMEX FHR..
Respectfully, I have to disagree as a Platinum, I always asked, give the $20-$50 and I’m lucky to get a non stained rug and enough water pressure to wash my hair. I guess it’s hit or miss.
Great Clip Josh and Rachel. Unfortunately MGM Grand has left a bad taste due to my personal experience of poor service , to the point of dissing me as a small time Chef, when in fact I have tons of past Culinary Awards. I am a professional Banquet Chef , serving up to 3000 guest at one time, but also competed in many world standing Culinary Shows, in my time. Anyway, because of their rude intentions towards me, I will never stay at MGM Grand. The management needs a serious overhaul. There are too many great Vegas Resorts, that will go out of their way to treat you right ; The Wynn and The Venetian, for example. That being said, thank you guys for your review. Maybe David Copperfield will make MGM Grand disappear ( kidding ). Cheers ! Chef Bari
If we can ask, where are you a chef? Is it a place we need to try out sometime? We do love the Wynn! And hoping to try out Venetian eventually! Thanks so much for watching!
Stay away from the buffet what has this place come to the worst food I’ve ever had eat in Vegas seriously people go to McDonald’s buy a burger or something
that’s unfair. it’s way above average in terms of the average hotel in america, it’s about average in terms of casinos in america. is it below average for the strip? probably, but it’s the best of all it’s neighbors (NYNY, excalibur, Trop, planet hollywood/polo towers, oyo, park mgm. maybe mandalay bay is better but that’s pretty far.)
My friends and I went here about 2 years ago, very nice hotel, and nice room too...the beds at first felt hard, but ended up being VERY comfy and my friends and I were very pleased. pool area was nice and fun too, loved the lazy river!

The size of the place is what I like about MGM Grand. The amount of walking keeps me from feeling constantly bloated. I’ve stayed there over 15x. FYI you have to walk through the District to get to the pool and the MGM Signature. The CBS Experience now seems to be the Showtime Experience.
Thanks for sharing, the CBS experience seemed to be dead when we were there
On our last trip, we rented some scooters for the night. To this day, I have no idea how we managed to find the exit to the bridge after having some awesome gummies! I agree, that property is massive!
Haha that would have made a funny video right there
Loved mgm I just stayed there 3 nights. Yes its massive property but it is laid out well. Lots to see and do. Used the monorail and uber to from airport. No luck on slots unfortunately. Would stay there again
Awesome thanks Gary
Only problem I had a mgm in the 5 different occasions I’ve stayed there was that closet of a room in the west wing (formerly the marina tower)
That was might first experience and I hated it so much. I’ve had bigger rooms on a cruise ship
I don’t care for the dated bathrooms but I would visit the restaurants and casino area
The restaurant selection is on point!
Thanks for watching!
MGM Buffet isn't fantastic by any means for sure. BUT, comparing price for many of the other nicer buffets I think it's a fair price. Like your videos, keep up the great work.
Fair enough! We haven’t tried it so can’t say much, thanks for the tip!
I got lost on the casino floor and couldn't find my way out to the strip. I had to ask a security guard to point me in the right direction.
And that is the biggest problem we have with it as well
Nice review of the place. Planning to visit but everybody has their opinion but I need to find out for myself.
Definitely worth trying at least once
Did the rooms tell you about what time hotel stands for.who are the casino tables.who is the food,is there a lot of food places
We didn't end up playing the tables but there definitely is a great food selection at MGM Grand
Does the gold lounge check in also work for MGM credit card holders like other resorts?
Not that I could tell unfortunately
I would imagine a lot of the flow through the casino is to the tram at the back of the property.
Maybe, it's just so constant it's too much for us sometimes
I doubt it. The monorail is never very busy. The walk to the monorail is too long. The 3 stations it can make sense to take the monorail are
- the convention center (but the capacity of the monorail is not enough in case of large event, which still not make it a good choice).
- Westgate
- sahara
The last 2 are not the most attractive places to visit!
im just tring to figure out what hotel i wanna build status with before going this hotel seems insane i wanna go but are their any better
That is a super hard thing to decide, so many great choices
@JoshRachael it is buy I think I almost figured it out lol
How much does it cost to stay a week or two in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Hotel?
Not sure - guess it would depend on the time of year and what activities were happening in Vegas!
Did you use the kiosk to check in or did you use a real person? I’m curious about why you got the upgrade when you checked in early. You should have filled the jacuzzi tub just to say you did.😅
haha the hot water took ages so it would have just been a pool haha - We checked in at the Gold Desk with a real person - always try to do that to get any upgrade we can
@@JoshRachael GREAT videos and Vlogs that you guys produce……Thanks!❤️
Have you guys seen KA? If so, what was your opinion.
The largest hotel in the world by number of rooms is The Venetian in Macau, China.
We read it was the largest single hotel in the world but others are larger when including additional buildings, like Venetian/Palazzo combined
@@JoshRachael The Venetian and Palazzo in Vegas are two separate properties.
Love the pool, the hotel itself was decent but overwhelmingly huge! Dont waste your time or money on their buffet 😂
Agree with ya there for sure
Hey Josh and Rachel... great video... loved the room... actually, the buffet before Covid was actually pretty good.... It offered many varieties including Indian food, which we loved as well as you guys. We went there a couple of months ago, even they offered it to us free, we would never eat there. Save your time save your video for something else. We know you guys are not even real buffet people. So do not eat there 👍👍👍👍thanks for sharing your videos with us..
Thanks for the tip! Bummer how some things just haven't returned to Pre-COVID Levels still - such a shame
@@JoshRachaeland it's a new norm everywhere USA...so many things have been scaled back in Vegas..the little perks and touches have vanished🥺
27 second mark. OMG Rachael
👀
Looks like the bathroom has been updated based on the fixtures, so the hideous green is staying 😅
🤮🤮🤮
My second home! 😂
Awrsome, what’s your favorite part?
ARE YOU RELATED TO SIMEON????
We did not have a Football team in the room .....that's what she said 😊
Glad we clarified that one...
You said it's your least hotel, but then you keep saying good things about it!!!!
Going into staying there I hated it but we do our best to look at the good and the bad of places and MGM grand surprised us so we wanted to share that
Thanks for your honesty, please accept my apologies if I missed the true meaning of your review! Have a great day.
@@javieraleman8150 No Worries, thanks for watching!
Need to rent a scooter to get around MGM Grand
No doubt!
We have tried the buffet at MGM Grand and it's terrible. You're not missing anything. Probably the worst buffet I've ever had in Vegas.
Dang those are some harsh words - Glad we didn't try it.
We were so shocked and excited by it. That was such a good way to start off a trip for sure!
Respectfully, I have to disagree as a Platinum, I always asked, give the $20-$50 and I’m lucky to get a non stained rug and enough water pressure to wash my hair. I guess it’s hit or miss.
I tried the buffet last July and was severely disappointed. I was hungry so I ate, but I expected better.
That’s disappointing to hear. Definitely sounds like it’s mid to low tier cureently
Y'all look like brother and sister!😏
Interesting take
The MGM is nice overall and a one stop shot. The buffet is terrible. Same price basically as the wicked spoon at cosmo but way worse.
Yeah we haven't heard the best of stuff about the buffet but so true about it having literally everything you need.
@@JoshRachael I am retired now - 35 yrs in the hospitality business
Stay away from the buffet what has this place come to the worst food I’ve ever had eat in Vegas seriously people go to McDonald’s buy a burger or something
Oh Dang that sounds bad
It’s a dump , let’s have an honest review next time please 😮
I did hate it before this stay without a doubt.
Orrrr it’s all up to opinion bitch
that’s unfair. it’s way above average in terms of the average hotel in america, it’s about average in terms of casinos in america.
is it below average for the strip? probably, but it’s the best of all it’s neighbors (NYNY, excalibur, Trop, planet hollywood/polo towers, oyo, park mgm. maybe mandalay bay is better but that’s pretty far.)
Drab Hotel Casino...old way out dated, in particular those lousy green marble sinks, etc. 1960s look, NO THANKS!
Definitely not comparable to Aria, Wynn Venetian or Cosmo but it’s twiggy there with the rest of the mid tiers older places
@@JoshRachael Right!
