That flute also sounded incredible. For most of the time that's where my stuff lacked original sounding instruments. You prove its possible, which leaves me once again amazed. Ahhh thanks man. I gotta say I don't think there is much new essential stuff in NI Komplete 12. I think they could give better deals for upgrading if there is something new you want. I just felt when I got Komplete 11 it would sort me out with loads of stuff in one foul swoop. I also got it when half price which helped greatly. Thing is you need the full kontakt to play most sample libraries so they kind of have you over a barrel lol. Enjoy the MCM lol

    What I like to do is create this sort of fake vintage material- drum breaks, horn stabs, flutes and strings over Rhodes, etc., and then record them off to cassette tape. Then I’ll sample them off of tape into an old, low quality sampler and chop them as if they had come off of real vintage records.

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 года назад

      Yea man, Plugins are great but you cant beat some actual analogue tape. Plus its nice to then be able to chop stuff like it is a sample off a record rather than copying chunks of midi

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 года назад +2

      Thanks man! I would actually say if you can try and get ableton 10 as the drum buss midi effect is really useful. I used to be in a production unit called the Creators and we worked with some pretty big artists, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples, etc. Also did a remix for Dilated on the flip of the worst comes to worst single. Oh and our first ever release was the European remix to aint hard to tell by Nas. It got featured on the last illmatic anniversary release. Its called the laidback remix. All this stuff can be found on youtube.

      Damn I pulled the Creators record off my shelf just other day! Some great beats on that one! Great videos too. I’ll need to check if I have that rickenbacker bass, I only have the standard Komplete, can’t remember if it’s included.

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 года назад

      @@rorymackenzie5230 Hey Rory, No i'm afraid the rickenbacker only comes in the ultimate package. The main advantage to upgrading to the ultimate is the Ricky bass and the vintage, 50s, and 70s abbey road drums. Thing is by the time you buy them separately you might as well pay for the ultimate upgrade. You just gotta wait till its on a sale.

    "emulated breaks" or "break emulations"
    "virtual breaks" "programmed breaks" anything to get away from using the word fake lol. also, if you program a drum break and you processed it such that it sounds like one that was sampled from a song all you've done is taken a break and made it sound vintage so yeah, they're real breaks. just my 2 cents though of course. very interested in this topic. one technique I use is to program at BPM ranges that old school funk breaks were recorded in and then pitch those up into drum and bass range and downtempo trip-hop range to make sure it's sounding good. thought process behind it is: "if it's true for the amen break and the think break etc...then it should be for whatever I'm creating"

    • @Sispex
      @Sispex  4 года назад +1

      Ha yea Fake Breaks is pretty wack lol. I quite like virtual breaks. Pitching drums up and down is a good idea for sure but do remember that most people started sampling the Amen brother drums from the ultimate breaks and beats album which had slowed them down to 33rpm so when people sped them up to 130ish they actually weren't that far off pitch wise from where they started lol!

    • @LdotSdot210

      @@Sispex don't know why youtube never notified me of your reply but that's definitely a crucial bit of information I would've never have been privy to on my own so thanks for that. that definitely had something to do with the frequency response then but what I'm looking for (and admittedly should've specified in my earlier comment) is to I guess approximate the relationship between the pitches of the individual sounds. Like kick to hi hat and kick to snare, etc. It's subjective obviously but I think there's definitely something to it.
