I love watching you go through the process. It is not magic. Quilting takes a lot of planning and practice. You have been such an inspiration. Thank you
Thanks so much for sharing your quilting videos. I have learned much from you through the last decade plus, taking your classes and studying your books. Such inspiration. I love watching these videos!!
Thank you so very much for sharing your process. You've given me the gift of me to be brave about marking.... I have all the tools.. dropping my fear and going for it. Thank you.
First..... loved the music! Second.... I'm kinda new at FMQ so I'm constantly having AH HAA moments. The big one in your video was when you backtracked on the piano keys. Duh! I have struggled so much with that. So easy and really lays that thread down for some beautiful definition by backtracking. Also loved the braided sashing. My big question is how did you get your own design drawn onto the border area? Did u put the light box under the quilt sandwich while it was mounted on the frame? Love the whole concept of putting in your own design. Your work is truly inspirational. Thank you for sharing!
Yes! I have a large lightbox in my studio which I use to transfer the designs directly on the quilt top before it gets quilted. Dont sandwich the quilt until the designs are pre-marked on the quilt first. Once it is sandwiched - you wont be able to trace the designs through all those layers. Thanks so much for watching!!!
@@KarenMcTavish EXCELLENT! I have noticed more and more how professional longarmers actually mark their quilts with many designs before quilting. For some reason I got the impression early on that that "wasn't allowed!" Kind of like breaking thread is a no no. I have finally decided that if the quilt police show up I'll just have to deal with it! And watching free spirits like yourself help me step out the crazy boundaries I've set for myself. Thank you for sharing. Your tutes are a wonderful breath of fresh air! Have a Blessed holiday!🙄
I know that you tested the water soluble blue marking pen, but did you have your doubts on it being wiped off, and how damp eas your cloth when you did it? Thank you. Sorry, I commented before I saw the end of the video. I saw you using a brush.
My confidence with blue water soluble pens are low until you submerge it in water to really get that product out. Purple air erasable pens are the best bet but the marks fade - you’ll have to work fast!
The LED lights come standard on all newer APQS machines since 2012. As of 2019 - they added even more lighting to the machines. The LED give me tons of light.
Sweet I may have to stop at lowes or home depot and look for something that would work, i love your work, i have been longarm quilting for a while I'm going to incorporate what you have shown to my quilts thanks so much
