    I'm new to quilting. You're work is stunning! Thank you for your videos. I'm inspired to learn how to imitate your art. This is jaw droppingly beautiful! You turn quilts into heirloom pieces. Utter raw genius!

    Love your quilting, but with so much in each block, isn't the finished quilt extremely heavy? Thank you for sharing your work.

      Yes. Most of the quilting I do is pretty heavy - but sometimes my intention is to create loft in the applique and push back the backgrounds.

    Stunning! Do you use your stitch regulator? And you number setting? Thank you

    • @KarenMcTavish
      @KarenMcTavish  Год назад +1

      Not often am I using the SR when I’m doing free motion. You don’t need the “number setting” - just don’t go too fast or way to slow. Find the flow that’s right for you!!

    I love this and it looks perfect. How do you know when it is "enough" and is it ever too much?

    • @KarenMcTavish
      @KarenMcTavish  2 года назад

      That is the question!!! Sometimes we have to remember this is a quilt after all. For beauty or warmth. It’s entirely up you!!

    I admit it's gorgeous, But doesn't such close quilting make the item rather stiff, like a matteress pad?

    • @KarenMcTavish
      @KarenMcTavish  Год назад +1

      Very stiff. Yes. Sometimes there is a line between comfort/utility vs. art/making art. I can make quilts that are soft and warm. I’m quilting with the intention of making art. In modern quilting- you quilt from your gut and your interpretation of what is right or wrong. Modern quilters often reject what we are supposed to quilt and do the opposite. (The quilt police are non-existent).
