    Can you make a video of how to use an x32 rack that’s connected with a s16 to and x32/m32 full size at front of house. And how to return the master buses to stage onto the x32 rack?

    I have on many many many many occasions used unshielded CAT6 on long throws of 100+ ft (sometimes 200+ ft) on multiple consoles and stageboxes

    Could you make another video talking about how to make Talkbacks betwenn these 3 mixers? Or a text here, whatever is easier for you.

    Hi Drew, we are using the X32 rack + S32 for rehearsing and gigs. Now we just set up the whole thing with backing tracks in Mainstage and in ears for all band members. From April on we're gonna do some live sessions / mini festivals with other bands at some different venues. The question is if we can bring our own rig and send all the outputs to FOH, even if they don't use Behringer but another digital console, like for example Allen & Heath, PreSonus or Soundcraft. Just so we can have our own in ear mix and backing track settings as we are used to and don't have to start from scratch each gig. Thank you for the great tutorial videos. You helped a lot :)

    • @AdrianEitzenAMSE
      @AdrianEitzenAMSE Год назад +1

      You'll probably want a splitter snake so you can have all your inputs to your monitor rig and provide each channel to FOH. You can either get an analog splitter snake (Seismic has a bunch of rack mount options) or a couple rack units like the ART S8. With these you can even omit tracks (like click) that aren't necessary for FOH

    This video was great but it stopped me from one thing. I used this video to help setup a monitor and FOH setup. I figured out how to get the x32 rack to send sound, but no matter how I set the routing up it will not allow the second console to send sound out. All meters work but no sound comes out of the second console. Any advice on how to get both units to send sound out of the s32 outputs?

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler  Год назад

      You would need to route the audio from that second console to the first console via AES50, and then use the first console to route the audio to the S32. You would need to utilize the User Routing for this.

    A few problems I’ve found with this setup is you can’t send an Aux input signal to the Aux input of another console. Also the talkback input becomes completely useless. Also I find the gain splits very clunky eg. At several shows I’ve done recently the gain control wouldn’t show up on either of my 2 consoles, only trim. Then once I restarted the gain showed up but it didn’t affect the input level at all. Very odd problems but nothing I can’t work around.

    Nice video, thanks a lot. I have a question: I'm looking for the best way how to use waves plugins running on SuperRack native or SoundGrid server. Could you please test several cases:
    1. Waves card connected to X32 and run SuperRack native and Soundgrid server.
    2. Dante card and SuperRack native via virtual sound card and dante PCI card and dante RME card.
    3. Connect X32 via AES50 to DN9630 or Lynx AES16e-50 card.
    I'm looking for routing and round trip latency in all cases. Thank you a lot for the info.

    Hi Drew, I have a question, that I hope you can answer. I have an X32 Compact for FOH, and an M32R for monitors then an S32 and SD16 rack units. I would like to use all 16 outputs from the S32 for in ears (large group doing stereo in ears). Then I would like to use some of the outputs from the SD16 for my main speakers (and possibly a couple monitors for the choir director etc). Watching your video I was able to get my units sharing inputs, but I'm confused on how to route my main outs to the SD16. The switch on the SD16 is set to 17-24. Currently I'm running the cables like: X32(FOH A) to S32(A) - S32B to SD16A - SD16B to M32A. I see all devices connected in the X32. Just don't know how to make the main outputs from the X32 go to the SD16.

Also send them to AES50-B at Monitor console?

    Great video Drew. Our church in Puerto Rico, Casa del Padre, uses an X-32 for FOH, an S32 on stage, 6 P-16 for band members , 2 wedges for our vocalist team and a Midas DP-48 for our broadcast mix. On regards to the broascast mix, i was going to get an X-32 rack but my sales rep suggested the DP-48 (less expensive and more channels) and we are getting a very decent sound with it. Can you please give me your opinion on the broadcast mix gear decision?

    Drew, I need help! I am using a x32 rack as my main mixer for my band, but I also bring it to venues that have an audio engineer mixing from their own x32 to keep our in ear monitoring mixes the same at all shows. I currently use a split snake and just drop them a copy of all my inputs but I wonder if it would be easier for them, and us, if I were to bring a shielded cat5 and use aes50 to give them a copy of all our inputs. I would want to retain our input gains so I would want our x32 rack to be the main source for everything. How can we complete this setup? or would it be easier to just continue using the split snake?

  • @pauljohnson4590
    @pauljohnson4590 2 года назад +1

    I've noted your comments on screened data cables, but it worries me. One of the real advantages of the cat5 or above was that the grounds of the connected equipment are NOT bonded together. As an example, with bigger venues, the ground potential between stage and front of house grounds, in things like theatres, can be a few volts - so old analogue systems hummed when the grounds were connected and worse, potential fault currents could use the common ground in some circumstances. With digital, this went away - but I'm not comfy with re-introducing a common ground system, with all the issues it can/could cause. Maybe a screened cable grounded at the stage end, but floating at the front of house end would be fine - for the screening, but no actual current carrying path? It sounds a backwards step to me, and so far with 50m runs, I've never done it or had an issue - but I didn't know grounding via the data cable was a recommendation? Hmmmmmmm

      When I connected an S16 to an X32 Rack using an un-shielded cable it did cause big problems like loss of sync that were resolved when I used a shielded one, so I'm sure Drew is right on this one, but I take your point on the potential between 2 distant locations being a possible issue.

    • @pauljohnson4590
      @pauljohnson4590 2 года назад

      @@Weirdbloke1 very strange - I've got some tough data cable on reels plus a number of oridinary cat 6 unscreened and never had any issues linking my two X32s and an M32. It never even occurred to me there was a problem till I read these topics - now I'm thinking?

    • @DustySeven7
      @DustySeven7 2 года назад +1

      The shielded cable is the manufacture spec. Its to help prevent static build up in the cable and RF rejection. Also only cat5e stp should be used. AES 50 was designed for that. Its not a IP signal where higher grad category cable makes a difference

      I just checked the X32 schematics. The shield of the RJ45 connectors is directly connected to digital ground. I thought they might be capacitively or otherwise coupled to avoid the commoning of the grounds between interconnected consoles, but I didn't see that.

    I would like to have an FOH then run a Ethercon to the stage and connect to a Stage box, and Hub 4. Currently I have x32 A-AES going to Stage box for drum split and local inputs on x32 used for additional inputs at stage right. I have another SD16 so I would like to have x32 out front (no ipad) and one Ethercon coming from FOH position to stage box SD16 and SD8 (at drum location) and Hub 4 on AES B I have another x32 that can be utilized if needed. I can't find much info on Hub 4 but we are running 3 DP48 with POE power to stage positions.

    Wrong on the cable again. Shielded Cat5e ONLY. That is in the manual and the tag that comes covering the AES ports on new consoles. AES was designed for the twist rate of cat5e

    • @DrewBrashler
      @DrewBrashler  2 года назад +2

      The category number of ethernet cable is actually the cable rating of the highest MHz of data and the speed rating of the cable. As long as it is shielded and a minimum of CAT5e spec, the cable will work.
      When you are comparing a CAT6 cable vs a CAT5e cable, the CAT6 cable will have less crosstalk and interference, therefore is a more robust connection. Additionally, you will find that a higher category rating of network cable is backwards compatible with a lower category of data transfer.
