- Stef Van Campenhout breaks a 16 YEAR drought in medals for the Belgium Men's Foil team at the 2023 European Games in Krakow!
To accomplish this huge result he had to come back from a 12 - 8 deficit against Tokyo 2021 Olympic Bronze Medalist, Alexander Choupenitch 🔥 🔥 🔥
Enjoy this match, which goes all the way to the 14 - 14 match point in an absolute thriller 😎

I think this is hilarious in many ways. When I visited Confrérie Saint-Michel in Ghent, Belgium in 2016 (the world's oldest fencing club,, also where FIE got started, it was really cool, you need to visit if you can), they explained to me that they had no foil in the club because "foil is for kids starting up fencing". They made fun of me because I didn't drag my fencing stuff from US to Belgium for a work conference (you are not a real fencer are you) and that I fenced mainly foil.
Interesting 😂 I guess the foil team must be training in some other club
To be fair, a lot of the top fencers weren't there as the individual event was not worth any points for the FIE ranking and the Olympic qualification, however a fantastic achievement nontheless. (Also, I shouldn't be complaining given that Tristan Tulen won the Netherland's first gold medal in an epee competition, and I'm from the Netherlands so that made me really excited)
Beating Choupenitch is beating Choupenitch 😁
First to comment?????? Also can't forget to add about the nice broken-time fleches by Campenhout. 🔥🔥
The attacks are crazyyy 🔥 I can never tell when it's going to be the real attack and when it's not, great stuff
