A great film and well done men, fantastic craic with your dad, he just keeps on walking, brilliant. I followed your short films but I’m looking forward to each longer episode. Well done men. 🍻👍👍👍
Hi , great video and fantastic adventure I stumbled across your video as it came up as I was scrolli g through my home page. Scary thing is as me and my wife where watching, it suddenly dawned on us both we passed you in a grey vw camper inbetween New Dungeon Ghyll and Great Langdale campsite. We slowed down give you loads of room and you give us a lovely wave and smile. Then we watched as you pithed your tents and I said to my wife wonder how fair they are going and where they have been brave lads in this weather. As we watched more of your video sure enough you can just make our van out next to reception. Wish I had spoke to you both but did not get a chance. I am a subscriber now and cant wait to your next video.
Haha what are the chances of that! Soooo nice that site especially no one being there… and that dry room 🙏 hope you had a nice time! Langdale is a beautiful place
Really enjoyed watching part 1. Can't wait to see part 2. Its got me thinking about planning something myself!! 🤔 I loved the idea with the pillow and I might have to get a pair of waterproof socks. Thanks for the tips.👍
I live in Cumbria on the doorstep of the Lake District. I think it got down to minus 12. We got a couple of inches snow on the outskirts. I'm lucky to live by the sea and fells. Gods country 🏞
I would have loved to do this with my dad before he passed, your are blessed such a bond and memories to cherish ❤️ followed. You on Facebook too stay safe
Another amazing video Sam. The solo stuff is great but I love seeing yours and your dads adventures. Can't wait for the next vid. When are we going to see a North Coast 500 one? 😂😂
Absolutely brilliant. Me and my dad did this at the end of October (we’re similar ages to you and your dad) and I thought it was a bit late in the season to be doing it then. But this is next level 😂 👏 👏
Great video! Could you make a video about what's in your bag for these trups? I always over pack. It would great to know your setup! Keep up the amazing videos man!
Hey Sam, I’m watching this in Canada. And I love seeing the Hills where I used to walk as a young man (from the UK originally) as you can imagine the winters here are brutal and we do winter camp in unheated tents when we are hiking. To combat moisture I use a candle lantern. UCO brand. The candles last about 12 hours so they will stay lit all night. I use a single skin tent and without the candle lantern moisture is terrible, with the lantern light I have no moisture problems at all, and we are regularly sleeping out in temperatures of -15 or even lower.. check them out -UCO candle lanterns. They are a game changer. Hope this helps!
Great vid, live watching your stuff and your west highland way vids confirmed my desire to do it myself next year. Did the cape wrath last year staying in bothies would love to see you get on that mate we went kinlochbervie to durness via kearvaig bothy - you’d love it i reckon 👍🏻
@Samrculley I have done it twice in summer conditions, and now plan to do it in February of this year. You will certainly enjoy it. Top tip - take your time or you will miss so much 👍
Really enjoyed watching this, thank you! The route looked relatively flat or is that just the video giving the wrong impression? As someone who wants to get into doing longer walks, can you recommend something (not super steep) that I could do over a couple days with a stop in-between? Ideally a little stopover in a town as I'm not as hardcore as you yet and want comfort after a days walk 😂 I'm Shropshire based.
I have been waiting for this video :D didn’t disappoint! May I ask what watch are you wearing? I am looking for a new walking watch with maps etc. Lucy
Happy to report that "cumbria", the 1970s administrative dog's breakfast was abolished in 2023. It will soon disappear from maps as legally only admin areas can be shown. Ulverston is not in the Lake District, thankfully.
It’s definitely the comfiest mat you’ll ever find! But for that it’s quite heavy at 1KG and bulky in your pack, if you want comfort go for it, if you want lightweight have a look at others 👍👍
It’s the sea 2 summit ether lite extreme got it online and then the folding one underneath is the EZ sleeper from alpkit, handy little extra insulation and lightweight 👍
After watching your WHW adventure, it is great too see you two out again, brilliant to watch and great commentary.
Thanks Patrick!
Great video Sam, i know many will say it but great effort by your Dad as well, inspirational
Great videos! Really refreshing to watch someone down to earth with the right approach to kit. 👍

Another amazing video Sam. The solo stuff is great but I love seeing yours and your dads adventures. Can't wait for the next vid. When are we going to see a North Coast 500 one? 😂😂
Thanks matey ! You want me to hike the NC500 or drive it? Haha
@Samrculley Hike it of course, I know it'll take weeks probably but from a purely selfish point of view it'll be amazing and give me loads to watch 🤣🤣
Great video, learning a lot from you and your dad!
I really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.
Great watch. I'm planning on doing the CW in March so I'm eagerly watching for some tips
Absolutely brilliant. Me and my dad did this at the end of October (we’re similar ages to you and your dad) and I thought it was a bit late in the season to be doing it then. But this is next level 😂 👏 👏

Another great video mate. Would love a watch review!
Trees triangles 😂😂

West Highland Way, now Cumbria Way. Your dad is a machine. Perhaps you might have to get him on the Cape Wrath Trail 👍
Well well well… funny you should say that!
Not a winter edition though but it’s happening
@Samrculley I have done it twice in summer conditions, and now plan to do it in February of this year. You will certainly enjoy it. Top tip - take your time or you will miss so much 👍
Loving these videos your both doing, I shudder to think how long it takes to edit a video this length 😂
Hahahaha I’ve managed to get it down to about 8 hours now 😂
Another amazing scenic hike. Love the gear updates too. What foam mat is your dad using, looks like it packs down nice and small :)
Same as mine mate EZ sleeper from alpkit
Awesome video. Been looking forward to watching this as I'm doing this walk next month
That’s brilliant mate enjoy it! Hope you get good weather for it 👍👍
Really enjoyed watching this, thank you! The route looked relatively flat or is that just the video giving the wrong impression?

Thanks a lot matey! Hmmm trying to decide… I am considering hiking the length of Scotland in spring though… any ideas?
I have been waiting for this video :D didn’t disappoint! May I ask what watch are you wearing? I am looking for a new walking watch with maps etc. Lucy
Hi Lucy it’s a garmin Fenix 8! And thanks for watching 🙏😂
@ Ace thank you. I walked Mam Tor area last Friday…. The views felt like I was in the Alps! Amazing day ❄️ less miles than the Cumbria way like 😂
Awesome video as usual. Any plans to do the South West Coast Path?
I’ve done mine head to lands end! Might have to go do the rest!
super effort
Hi Sam awesome video, was wandering what camera or phone you use to film this?? :)
Thanks Chris! It’s a DJI action 5 pro mate! Like a go pro type thing 👍
@@Samrculleycheers Sam! Also what sort of stand do you use for the go pro? A tripod or a stick? :)
Do you record your steps? Would be good to know what you end up doing? Especially WHW in Scotland.
I think it was about 220,000 steps! And more like 300,000 for the WHW
Great video! What watch/navigation app do you use?
Thanks! I use OS maps app and the Hiiker app, hiiker is best for long distance hikes 👍
@ thanks what make was the watch? The map display looked great.
Come to Meltham Church always open
Which watch are you wearing Sam?
Garmin Fenix 8 mate

what’s the watch that you showed at 7:16 ?
Where did you say the mat was from? / would you recommend?
It’s definitely the comfiest mat you’ll ever find! But for that it’s quite heavy at 1KG and bulky in your pack, if you want comfort go for it, if you want lightweight have a look at others 👍👍
