Is Erling Haaland destined for Real Madrid?

- Tuesday night saw Manchester City move a step closer to another potential treble, as Erling Haaland left Kenilworth Road with five goals against Luton Town as Pep Guardiola’s side progressed to the FA Cup quarter finals.
There’s always been a suspicion that Haaland will one day join Real Madrid. But could this move be less likely with the probable arrival of Kylian Mbappe? Where could Haaland end up after Man City?
Ayo Akinwolere is joined by The Athletic’s Man City correspondent Sam Lee, data writer Thom Harris, plus La Liga correspondent Dermot Corrigan to discuss.

It would he kind of funny if Haaland ends up transferring to Real Madrid as the team moves on from the endless drama of Mbappe to a player who fits the team better as a true #9
If this was Manchester City trying to buy Haaland from Real Madrid I'm pretty sure they'd be claiming greed & there's no point. Just remembered Haaland is a genuine City fan from when he was a child, his dad played for them he went to games even after his dad retired. Also watch how he celebrates, he didn't act with nowhere near as much love at Dortmund etc.
Manchester City is genuinely his home, Mbappe on the other hand time will tell if RM is truly his home
K.D.B is 33 in a few months , so far this season he has played in 12 games , scoring two goals & assisting 12 goals...... last season he played 49 games, scoring 10 goals & assisting 31 goals.
Look at KDB's number of assists have sky rocketed after Haaland came
All I know is if it does happen, then Madrid's claims that the super league is needed due to the PL's greed and money ruining football will be the most hollow imaginable.
I am not sure if the title of this video is clickbait or not because it is not the only video which has just recently dealt with this matter. I think it maybe and City supporters are fed up with what is pure speculation. Why would Haaland quit the European and world champions in the near future, particularly after the demolition of Madrid last season? Where do Real get the money to pay for both Mbappe and Haaland without offending the FFP rules given both the huge transfer fee and very high wages they will have to pay?

@@aarondhillon25 Yes. They had completely slipped my mind.
This is where city fans don’t understand, it’s Real Madrid. For a lot of players it doesn’t matter the situation the club is in but when you get the opportunity to play at the Bernabeau and put on that jersey it has been described as a different weight and aura on you. The whole world watches you at that point. You represent the past legends of not only the club but the game has ever seen. As for the money if you want to look up their finances they can easily afford it unlike city making up their numbers.

Only few of these players will pick Real Madrid when they can have more money from the oil clubs.... Bellingham said he had better money offers, Mbappe wil earn less than this year. these guys just said that Vinicius and Brahim Diaz rejected more money to stay in Madrid. Tchouameni probably got the same offer from Liverpool when he picked Real Madrid (when he was watching the Real Madrid-Chelsea or City game he texted his manager that he wants to play for Real Madrid). I think players should sacrifice some money to play for Real Madrid. Well Ithink it will come back in reputation. Bellingham would not be the same world star playing for any PL side.
@@gyozonagy2189 let's not ignore that Real Madrid gave Mbappe £100m+ signing fee 😂
The narrative that RM doesn't give big contracts or spends on transfers is insane propaganda, does Hazard £100m flop ring a 🔔
What about Bale who was on £600k a week for many years didn't play football because he fell out with the manager.
Bellingham just wanted to go to RM over City & that's fine besides it's not like he accepted the pennies Barcelona would have offered, he's still on €400k = £342k a week salary which would have placed him 3rd highest in salary at Manchester City with KDB being the highest at £400k, he's earned it through loyalty & persistent performances as he's been at City for approach 9 years now. Jude wouldn't have been paid equal or more as that would have been disrespectful & would have ruined City's salary hierarchy.
Liverpool werent serious about bellingham, they were just gaslighting the fans @Emperor-Inker
@@Emperor-Inker the richest of the EPL are already using the Real Madrid as their B team. Casemiro, Varane, Odegaard, Kovacic all left Real Madrid for the EPL dollars. Even Ronaldo left for more money in Italy and in Manchester...
City could have paid a lot to the Bellingham parents via their owners. (The owners did pay directly to Mancini but they are smarter now and probably paid Haaland's father instead). Haaland is probaly earning 850k/week with bonuses. That is disrespectful. Jude probably means that by calling them plastic club. In Madrid even Vinicius is called the poor man's Jack Grealish.
Meanwhile the best English palyers did not want to sign for the EPL even for more money.
I think something is not cool in the EPL when both Musiala and Bellingham played half of their lives together in England U national teams (usually years younger than their teammates) and ended up playing abroad against the money. In the time when EPL is on the top of the world.
I totally get it and I think the James and the Hazard deals made Perez to turn to other policies. Of course the Isco, Kroos, Modric and Casemiro transfers helped him a lot. So he is targeting only young players with the promise of being world class at some point. And that is gamble of course (Reinier Jesus) but usually pays off.
Is thom harris a city fan?
No, he is not. Håland might stay at City for the remainder of his career which I personally hate the thought of because of “oil ball” but also on a personal note, I worship the lad. I’m Brazilian and watching Håland fulfill his potential is like watching Adriano all over again with the exception of his career collapse though in Adriano’s case unlike many other fellow Brazilians, it wasn’t his fault, the death of his father and the ensuing depression was frankly more than any person could honestly deal with. So no. Håland is NOT fated for Madrid though Madrid is likely already scheming his purchase. If he does complete the move to Madrid, I foresee it being an end of contract free transfer on the highest ever European wages at the end of this contract or his next contract but with City and Pep firing on all cylinders as they have been, I think he will stay at the club, they’ll win about 3 or 5 European crowns on the bounce which frankly makes me want to puke, Håland winning the Ballón D’Or for each European crown coming up. He might also make the jump to United before Madrid is Sir Jim wants to make a statement on commitment to the league and put United at the top of the food chain all in one swoop.
In regards to Adriano, i wish Haaland would do more long shots!, i think he has the power & physics to do it
@@khole15 he does but he plays in a different era, dribbling and the long shot are out of the top level of the game. Most managers think they’re wasteful, high risk, high reward, and not every footballer has the accuracy and tempo to really deliver the return on investment. It’s a shame, really. Goals scored from long shots are beautiful. Note that feel dead ball opportunities are generating shots on goal, too.
@@athosgomesfonseca True, but it really is a shame indeed, nothing beats a good long shot, Grimaldo has some good ones!
If Pep had allowed it, he would probably have scored some bangers from distance. He is the greatest striker I have witnessed since Ronaldo N. What a player. Shame he is in City, but I absolutely love the man!
@@thacrypt223 Pep is probably one of the few managers at the highest level who isn’t against distance shooting, the reality is that players these days are educated to play smart and reduce behaviors which cause turnovers from open play, you still see the occasional shot from distance at City from de Bruyne. Håland is just a really smart forward, observe his off the ball behavior, the guy spends much of his time studying his markers and defenders to pick his runs, with providers like he has at City, that translates into obscene numbers. He has that C. Ronaldo mentality to be a monster and his natural gifts only make him that much more menacing. R9 was a beast and Håland may yet eclipse his feats but the difference is R9 came from a Futsal vintage, and I’m afraid we won’t ever see another dribbler like him. Them own half runs across the pitch with the ball at feet is a lost art. Football is becoming a passing game with most of the running now happening off the ball, and this is where Håland excels. If City can find a successor to de Bruyne to supply Håland, he will just keep on delivering 50+ goal seasons until he simply doesn’t have the legs to run anymore around 35-years of age but between now and then? He may beat every scoring record we know and set a few new ones we didn’t even have before. He’s probably on track to be the youngest ever to 500 goals and more.
Is it me or the cut out doing most of the talking is eerie?
