On one hand this is a phenomenal display of skill and mastery of the weapon in Rise. On the other hand, I dislike that this is what Charge Blade has become.
@@chongcao2088 All playstyles of the weapon are viable and will end a hunt. But then so is just attacking with your kinsect with insect glaive. CSS is the superior efficient playstyle for any monster that allows it.
@@leonfrancis3418 That's your opinion and I respect that, but having played both SAED spam and savage axe I think both would work and have their own unique strengths and weaknesses with no obvious superior choice. Switch skills made every weapon super customizable and it's great to see axe hopper SAED spam work just as well as CPP counter-based playstle. Cases like longsword where helm breaker supremely outmatches sakura slash definitely shows imbalance in switch skills, but I don't think switch axe is such a case.

The only deciding factor is will the fight allow you to do that. That's not a matter of preference or opinion. Capcom's balancing is great, even with Longsword's Switch skills. Sakura Slash serves its purpose. I'm not talking about any of that. I'm simply displeased the most effective way to play Charge Blade for the majority of fights is to alternate between holding X and A. It's a minor gripe, because this gripe only exists at the highest levels of play, and Capcom doesn't balance (exclusively) for this level of play. Pay attention to what I'm saying. I'm not saying you can't SAED spam, Axe Hop, or AED counter play. You can, and have all the fun in the world. But there is a reason why the majority of rubs are chainsaw.

Savage Axe mode fills your phials instead of draining them in this game. Every two hits fills one phial, and the double hits from the dual side swing each count. The silkbind parry move also completely fills your phials.
High rank is generally a stun fest for players of this caliber. With that said, the average AM hunt is nothing like this, and I'd wager yours aren't consistently like this either.

The dogs put in so much work with the stuns, exhaust flinch and paralysis. Using two dogs is creative.
