And it's very insulting to see PCT as a utility Caster without raise, and so damned easy to play as I've leveled PCT to compare, is doing more damage than a pure selfish and everyone seems to agree is one of thee hardest job to master. That Devs and Yoshida didn't buff it 10% but 5% like the most skilled BLM players I know have said from their calculations, is pretty annoying to see. And they've not touched what all have said is needed to make it more fun and less clunky. OGCD Thunder Despair or Paradox also add a Astral Soul. Increase Thunder dot duration and Enochian timer by 3+ seconds etc No they sorted lower lvl MP issues and out of combat stuff I do not like any other jobs, I've loved the fantasy of the BLM for so many decades in all FF games and been main BLM since 1.0 and this time is the first time I genuinely dislike the changes they brought in a expansion I'm dreading what they will rework BLM in 8.0 :/
I feel that. I don't main tank, but I do play DRK as my primary tank role. And I, too, am still doing so out of stubbornness. Hopefully, we get some more buffs or at the very least some extra MP recovery tools.
hey cole, great video. thought id give my 2 cents since i beat the tier last night. the reason you see blm and picto at the top of the meter for M3 is because the fight is SUPER friendly to casters and rather rough on melee, there's alot of forced down time for melee (towers, bombs, spreads) and non ranged can go multiple gcds without hitting the boss but casters can keep 100% uptime. i can see this maybe changing alittle bit with a few more days of prog and people start min/maxing the strats. but as of now. if you go look at the clear rates you can see "uptime %" and most melees being around 85% while most ranged are around 93%+ thats a solid 7% of the entire fight that melee's are losing to the casters. but other than that great video! (also side note, m4s finally got a blm clear this morning, jp, so every job has cleared all fights, albeit that blm has exactly 1 clear of m4s)

The only outlier to the utility tax argument that complicates it is MCH which just doesn't bring utility. I wish they would move them up at least half a damage tier, by which I mean the clear downstep between all the dps classes from the "utility tier" to the "pure dps tier." There are four clear levels to the dps chart and I just think MCH stick out like a sore thumb where it is. Surrounded by utility but bringing none of its own. Sure its not massive but it is still very noticable
They do have dismantle to be fair, but I'd Def feel better if it was around the ninja/dragoon range or at least a decent step above the utility casters

If they didn't have dismantle I then they should Def be higher - and to be clear dismantle has its weaknesses - but it's a pretty decent mitigation to stack onto other mits. Unlike Magick barrier it doesn't increase healing done, but magic barrier also only affects magic damage, which is something we never have to worry about. Like I said I think they should be around the buff melee personally. Highest I'd dare go is balancing MCH around monk but I think they would be pretty op around that point. That said, I gotta say that I do think part of the MCH job fantasy is doing a lot of damage. They want you to feel like every big tool you bring out is absolutely obliterating the target, but them all being 600 potency kinda deflates that a bit lol. Like Reaper's 3rd combo hit is literally 600 potency
@@nevarinai6120 I picked addle and feint because those are almost exactly the same as dismantle, they reduce damage more of either physical or magic damage but they last longer so it evens out. Their only other utility abilities are the grazes which are nigh useless and tactician, which every other ranged DPS also has. I also forgot reprisal which is just aoe dismantle but it lasts longer and has a shorter cooldown
I'm honestly kind of surprised this hasn't happened. Even with the "Oops, all WARs!" thing that Tanks have had happen to them, DRK is somehow STILL an outlier. The sustain difference is whatever, but it's like, what IS its thing at this point? Other than the aesthetic.

This is just the way my mind works, but I think it's important to take the best from across the game. Like WHM now is WAY better than it was in SB, but SCH was pretty amazing in SB (granted, SCH is pretty amazing now, but...) Bow Mage in HW kinda sucked, but MCH was designed to work that way, so could have stayed with cast times. (Honestly, I always thought that was odd since guns are point and shoot while bows take time to actually nock the arrow and draw the string...) The important thing is figuring out when the individual Jobs were at their best and striving towards that, not trying to take ALL Jobs back to a specific time, since any given time, some were good and others were bad. Like HW DRK might be nice, but HW WAR was...uh...interesting, and HW PLD was...uh...also interesting.

i love this expansion. Really made Bard give more love. It wasnt that of an big addition but having that extra GCD shiny button made it signifact in terms of damage boost.

Provides nothing to anyone but themselves, Pictomancer? Provides and AOE damage buff (not sure what else at present but that one works just fine) yet is still ahead of BLM, which provides utility once again, for noone but themselves, Ninja provides utility as well. i could keep listing all of this but you know it already. I just don't understand their justification for saying things like "Oh, Summoner has a rez, that's why it does less damage!" when as i've said, plenty of jobs that provide utility are obliterating everyone right now. How does their balancing even work anymore? lol
Pictomancer also has an AoE %HP Barrier (though they forgo personal mit for using it). That being said, utility is not about raidbuffs, but stuff other than that, rezzes, mitigation, etc. which is why pictomancer is an outlier, imo, because of the AoE barrier.
I think its crazy that Sage's damage is so much lower than I thought especially when you consider just how much of our toolkit is about doing damage. I am not surprised that it has such a strong HPS though; Sage is commonly called a shield healer but really its just an HPS healer that is very mobile with E.Diag and Holos. However we have way more HPS oriented abilities. The guns and shield are mostly for show. But from a design perspective, I wouldn't mind SGE's damage increasing at a slight HPS loss - I mean we're fighting with lazers here so why don't they hurt lol
The top players in organized groups are going to always play BRD/DNC over MCH when they are able to have the best boost to their group. BRD is in a GREAT place right now
I play DRK mostly due to its looks at this point to be honest, it deserves some sort of rework like the one they did to PLD in Endwalker, although I still enjoy it (it`s a confort pick for me) a lot of DRK stuff is straight up weird in a bad way
Blm has serious issues you're telling me, I saw patch notes, casted dispair, transpose, pictomancer. If they're going to make picto on par with blm in terms of damage while giving them a raid buff, why would I ever play blm when a picto is easier to play and more valuable in savage.

I've personally been going with a double caster with either summoner or red mage mainly for the res utility, but once everyone learns the fight, I'm probably going to swap to double melee with picto preferred over blm due to it being easier to play and providing utility. I'm saying that as a blm main as well. I love blm but it needs some serious love because it's not worth playing right now.
As a mch main, it appears to me that the developers just really hate mch players. MCH was at the low end of dps in endwalker for MANY MONTHS before getting fixed, and now the same thing seems to be happening again.
devs are genuinely incompetent with mch and kind of ruined it when they transitioned into shadowbringers because stormblood machinist was a wee bit too hard for people (sound familiar?). they have no idea what to do with mch at all and it shows with how they removed all of its utility (but gave it back dismantle lmao)
Mch is just a failed design,it has too many problems, queen need to rework if not give them splash dmg then need specific turret like in sb where rook is single target and bishop is aoe, wildfire need to be can crit&dh, flamethrower need to throw out of the window and give auto crossbow refresh ricochet and the other ogcd like the single target counter part and remove the range tax
I'd take that 200 pot... if it was just applied to the tools across the board, as well as lesser buffs to all the rest of my damage. I'm not asking to get VPR/SAM levels of damage, but it'd be nice to crawl out of the basement to actually keep up with the lowest tier of melees since the only unique support option is Dismantle. 😑
A 10% difference in DPS also means a 10% difference in total damage. It doesn't get worse over time because it's damage per second. That's not how maths work. Just wanted to say.

They can just give all jobs utility, there is really no reason to pick a pure dps over other jobs at this point. As a raid leader would you pick SAM + BLM + MCH in your team or MNK + RDM + BRD?
VPR and SAM are pretty fantastic choices. Too good, even. Buff jobs should be higher in an ideal comp with equally skilled players tbh. Only PCT is really out of control compared to its role atm.

I feel like this just straight up came out days too early. The Savage raids have been out for 24 hours which means only the favorite classes of the most extreme parties are going to have solid numbers especially on classes that require any amount of setup because until you learn the fight it's going to be hard to know the best spots to stand.
i would love for you to do a video that was BLM centric. I know you're not a BLM main, but you have a good handle on the big picture. There is obviously a weird thing happening with blm, where it seems like not many people are playing the class (for many reasons), but i really think that you could lay this weird thing out. just an idea for future content.
When the Drk rework happens, I hope.... Salted Earth would change to function like it’s PvP counterpart somewhat where it mitigates dmg (with still dealing dmg) while the Dark Knight is standing in it and it’s follow up (Salt and Darkness) giving a potent regen/flat heal to Drk once executed. Abyssal Drain reverted back to being a global and made part of the aoe combo TBN should ALWAYS give you Dark Arts up front along with giving you the shield Dark Arts should be buffed to having a 3rd/4th option of being able to enhance Abyssal Drain and/or reducing recast of Carve and Spit if it’s on cooldown (that’s to go along with Abyssal Drain being back on the gcd-like old times). Along with already giving a free use of Edge/Flood. All of the TBN shield breaking....additional effect changed from ‘granting Dark Arts’ to either reset a charge of Oblation or reduce its cooldown by 30 secs Shadowstride getting a 3rd charge and made to function like Mnk's Thunderclap. So, you can target either a target or party member. Enhanced Unmend trait either deleted or effect changed to reset one charge of Shadowstride or reduce its cooldown by 30 secs. Delirium combo…should be extended to a 5 hitter like Drg. Come up with 2 additional hits or re-introduce some older animations for the job that it had in earlier xpacs. Also...maybe halving the recast to 30 secs to be used as frequent like the gun combo on GNB. Soul Eater combo for a min straight, every min, for any non pvp content....is old. Dark Mind…either revamped to having additional effect of either being a temporary self-buff. Or the additional effect of being able to self-cleanse the Walking Dead debuff if it’s triggered when using their invuln. With the bonus of restoring significant hp if a cleanse of Walking Dead is registered.
This is by far ONLY game i have played that is ... pretty balanced between classes (jobs) which makes you be like "i wanna play the bottom cos i like it YET still be viable in raids" unlike other MMOS which you want to play a certain class and then the raid is like "no you cant clear this content" and you get left behind.
The reality is in EVREY mmo I've played ALL CLASSES ARE VIABLE. People simply lock others out because the balance margins are far wider in other games between top and bottom specs....also other MMOs are a lot more hardcore then 14.
@DillonBranford It's certain phases like Pantokrater in O11S, where you may need to keep moving for multiple GCDs in a row. The new changes to Acceleration do help a ton, along with Manafic changes this expansion too. Black Mage can hold Triplecast, Xenoglossy, etc. Picto can hold their Holy stacks, their Hammer Time stacks. I'd say BLM and RDM are very comparable for mobility

In not saying Vipers damage isn’t good but I feel like it should be the highest out of all melee. Viper has not raid utility and no defensive utility at all
DRK needs a rework and ive been shouting this on multiple places since dawntrail dropped, MCH should be just below the melee dps if not above as BRD and DNC, WHM could use with that damage increase and a heal increase as i have had times in the EX's where i ran out of stuff to heal with on EX1 at the wings and since im moving i have 1 swift and yes i know its cause im not as good at whm but still, i press a button and it heals maybe 20%. BLM i think will see more playtime in reclears i think as i did see some groups take double caster where it was the other 3 mostly in that spot but needs maybe a 2% buff or something to try match the picto.
BLM gameplay is just archaic , they can buff by 666 % people will still play it Even in his peak in endwalker people still played rdm and smn. Just rework it and modernize it.
DRK doesn't need a rework, its perfectly fine. Its damage is balanced right now. However you have to play the job correctly and feed buffs to get the full use out of it. Plus the data your pulling with damage is before anyone has bis so its faulty anyway. The only thing DRK needs is some QOL changes for dungeons.
As a drk main, big disagree, it's just not satisfying or damaging, it's been losing it's uses slowly for a long time and could really benefit from a hard look
@@anarcnamedjustin3451 It feeds more then any other tank right now. It feeds buffs more then most DPS. The meta for tanks in savage will once again be Dark Knight & Gunbreaker again. Warrior and Paladin will still be the kings of prog tho. Each Tank has there identity and Dark Knights identity is being squishy, feeding buffs for max damage. If your not playing it properly or don't have buffs in group, it will not feel very fun. Even with the small sample size & lack of bis gear, sort FF logs by aDPS + 99 percentile (people who play the job properly) and tell me what tank you see at the top there.

Honestly I miss how majority of jobs were in HW. Especially DRK. Bring that back with some tweaks and QoL and it’d be fine.

Rpr does not have aoe shield. It has personal shield that when it pop, gives aoe regen but it heals by so little it's practically useless.

A 10% difference in DPS also means a 10% difference in total damage. It doesn't get worse over time because it's damage per second. That's not how maths work. Just wanted to say.

They can just give all jobs utility, there is really no reason to pick a pure dps over other jobs at this point. As a raid leader would you pick SAM + BLM + MCH in your team or MNK + RDM + BRD?
VPR and SAM are pretty fantastic choices. Too good, even.
Buff jobs should be higher in an ideal comp with equally skilled players tbh.
Only PCT is really out of control compared to its role atm.

I feel like this just straight up came out days too early. The Savage raids have been out for 24 hours which means only the favorite classes of the most extreme parties are going to have solid numbers especially on classes that require any amount of setup because until you learn the fight it's going to be hard to know the best spots to stand.

pct may have a weaker mit but its aoe heal is very strong for a caster since its a raid wide
i would love for you to do a video that was BLM centric. I know you're not a BLM main, but you have a good handle on the big picture. There is obviously a weird thing happening with blm, where it seems like not many people are playing the class (for many reasons), but i really think that you could lay this weird thing out. just an idea for future content.

Thats only because their healing is part of their burst, they dont have to stop dpsing like rdm in order to heal.

I don't think a tier list 24hrs after a raid comes out, is statistically accurate anyway. All of this means nothibg until about a week has gone by.
When the Drk rework happens, I hope....
Salted Earth would change to function like it’s PvP counterpart somewhat where it mitigates dmg (with still dealing dmg) while the Dark Knight is standing in it and it’s follow up (Salt and Darkness) giving a potent regen/flat heal to Drk once executed.
Abyssal Drain reverted back to being a global and made part of the aoe combo
TBN should ALWAYS give you Dark Arts up front along with giving you the shield
Dark Arts should be buffed to having a 3rd/4th option of being able to enhance Abyssal Drain and/or reducing recast of Carve and Spit if it’s on cooldown (that’s to go along with Abyssal Drain being back on the gcd-like old times). Along with already giving a free use of Edge/Flood.
All of the TBN shield breaking....additional effect changed from ‘granting Dark Arts’ to either reset a charge of Oblation or reduce its cooldown by 30 secs
Shadowstride getting a 3rd charge and made to function like Mnk's Thunderclap. So, you can target either a target or party member.
Enhanced Unmend trait either deleted or effect changed to reset one charge of Shadowstride or reduce its cooldown by 30 secs.
Delirium combo…should be extended to a 5 hitter like Drg. Come up with 2 additional hits or re-introduce some older animations for the job that it had in earlier xpacs. Also...maybe halving the recast to 30 secs to be used as frequent like the gun combo on GNB. Soul Eater combo for a min straight, every min, for any non pvp content....is old.
Dark Mind…either revamped to having additional effect of either being a temporary self-buff.
Or the additional effect of being able to self-cleanse the Walking Dead debuff if it’s triggered when using their invuln. With the bonus of restoring significant hp if a cleanse of Walking Dead is registered.

This is by far ONLY game i have played that is ... pretty balanced between classes (jobs) which makes you be like "i wanna play the bottom cos i like it YET still be viable in raids" unlike other MMOS which you want to play a certain class and then the raid is like "no you cant clear this content" and you get left behind.
The reality is in EVREY mmo I've played ALL CLASSES ARE VIABLE. People simply lock others out because the balance margins are far wider in other games between top and bottom specs....also other MMOs are a lot more hardcore then 14.

@DillonBranford It's certain phases like Pantokrater in O11S, where you may need to keep moving for multiple GCDs in a row. The new changes to Acceleration do help a ton, along with Manafic changes this expansion too.
Black Mage can hold Triplecast, Xenoglossy, etc. Picto can hold their Holy stacks, their Hammer Time stacks. I'd say BLM and RDM are very comparable for mobility
@@AbyssArray You're right in that regard, but O11s was a time when it was a dps loss for blm to hold those things. Non-standard BLM being dead makes this a good point, and going forward I can see it when you put it like that.

In not saying Vipers damage isn’t good but I feel like it should be the highest out of all melee. Viper has not raid utility and no defensive utility at all

DRK needs a rework and ive been shouting this on multiple places since dawntrail dropped, MCH should be just below the melee dps if not above as BRD and DNC, WHM could use with that damage increase and a heal increase as i have had times in the EX's where i ran out of stuff to heal with on EX1 at the wings and since im moving i have 1 swift and yes i know its cause im not as good at whm but still, i press a button and it heals maybe 20%. BLM i think will see more playtime in reclears i think as i did see some groups take double caster where it was the other 3 mostly in that spot but needs maybe a 2% buff or something to try match the picto.
I wish Yoshi P would have an open forum with BLM players and discuss why he made the decision's he did. And I hope we will care enough to change it.

Just rework it and modernize it.
DRK doesn't need a rework, its perfectly fine. Its damage is balanced right now. However you have to play the job correctly and feed buffs to get the full use out of it. Plus the data your pulling with damage is before anyone has bis so its faulty anyway. The only thing DRK needs is some QOL changes for dungeons.
As a drk main, big disagree, it's just not satisfying or damaging, it's been losing it's uses slowly for a long time and could really benefit from a hard look
@@anarcnamedjustin3451 It feeds more then any other tank right now. It feeds buffs more then most DPS. The meta for tanks in savage will once again be Dark Knight & Gunbreaker again. Warrior and Paladin will still be the kings of prog tho. Each Tank has there identity and Dark Knights identity is being squishy, feeding buffs for max damage. If your not playing it properly or don't have buffs in group, it will not feel very fun. Even with the small sample size & lack of bis gear, sort FF logs by aDPS + 99 percentile (people who play the job properly) and tell me what tank you see at the top there.
